Ordered these through a delivery service and got two cookies of six different flavors and WOW! I have no idea why I haven't eaten cookies from here before because they were so good. I will definitely be back! read more

JD's Chippery - a box of cookies - Bakeries Near Me - Dallas, Texas

These are definitely the best cookies in Dallas! Never disappoints!, a favorite for my whole family!

I really enjoy their muffins, but their staff isn't very pleasant. It's too bad I think they would have more business. If their staff would at least smile and be engaging. It feels like it's an inconvenience when you go into order anything from them. read more

If I could put .5 stars I would. I have been coming here for almost 30 years and today was my last. COVID-19 gets another busy that doesn't realize, that we as customers, pay to keep their lights on. read more

Not what I expected, definitely was ok but not great. I like a soft chewy cookie. They have a good reputation and my husband did think they were good. read more

A true Dallas staple!!! If you're looking for the *best* cookies you can find, look no further! I happily throw my money at these fabulous people nearly every weekend. You can't go wrong with any of their cookies, but I'm a huge fan of the peanut butter and sugar cookies. The muffins are also GREAT. You can't mess up no matter what you get. Don't forget to get yourself a refreshing soda, they must ship their water in from the French alps or something because their fountain drinks SLAP read more

The best cookies in Texas! There's a reason when you mention JD's people just start smiling and talking about their favorite cookie or muffin. Excellent just doesn't convey how Julie and her staff have made a simple treat into a must have for so many people for a long time. read more

JD's Chippery is a bakery in the University Parks area that specializes in cookies, muffins, and....cherry limeade. Yes, I love ordering a big cherry limeade along with my cookies. It's what makes a visit to JD's Chippery so unique. Oh, their cookies are pretty darn good too. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - JD's Chippery is pretty small with hardly enough room for more than 10 people. Inside you'll find rows of cookies/muffins lined up and ready to be taken home. It smells like a bakery (good) and makes you want to buy the store. Beware though, parking can be quite limited along with the tight spaces. But other than that it has the makings of a great, local bakery. 1/2 Star. Service - The staff is great and helpful. You may need to jockey for position against some of the local high school kids that like to show up after school for a snack. But once you are helped, your order is promptly boxed and you are rung up. They used to be cash only but accept CC's over a certain amount. 1/2 Star. Food - The cookies here are fantastic. They are about 3 inches in diameter, nice and soft in the middle, and best when served warm. I think JD's Chippery has the best snicker doodle cookies in all of Dallas, and their chocolate chip cookies are a close second. But it's also hard to ignore their muffins. They are also very big, are nice and soft in the middle as well, and they carry seasonal flavors. If you're lucky enough to visit in the fall, you must get some pumpkin muffin which is made to be eaten with a nice, hot cup of coffee. Finally, I know this sounds strange but I love ordering a cherry limeade every time I come here. I don't order to drink with my cookies, I ordered because I can and JD's Chippery uses "Sonic ice". It comes in a Styrofoam cup, which may be bad for the environment, but it's great for keeping your drink cool. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. As long as JD's Chippery continues to make the best snicker doodle in town, I will continue to visit. And like I said, for whatever reason it helps that I can order must cherry limeade drink too. Yes it's weird and yes, I'll be back. 1 Star. My Yelp Rating Scale (Sum of all parts): 1 Star - Atmosphere - Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I'll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star - Service - You can have a great meal with bad service. But that's also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It's important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars - Food - I'll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it's really all about the food. 1 Star - Will I come back? - If I know for a fact I'll return, I'll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food (2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Yelp score. read more

This and TCBY are my fave dessert places. Especially together. One of these cookies broken into pieces in some frozen yogurt? DELICIOUS. JD's has the best cookies I've ever tasted/smelled/been in the presence of. They are to die for and totally cheap. WAYY better than Mrs. Fields or Great American Cookie. The bakery chefs are behind the counter, baking these delicious treats with a smile. It's great service and you can get 3 cookies for about $2. Also, they have really delicious cherry limeades. I don't even eat other cookies anymore because they are fake-tasting and not buttery/lardy enough for my taste. Please have a cookie at JD's. It will change your life. read more

Holy butter, Batman! These cookies are super buttery. I was gagging on the butter aftertaste for the next hour, even with milk to wash it down. Wait, I'm getting ahead of myself. Wifey and I stopped by on a Saturday and decided to try a cookie or two before committing to a dozen (or two). We got one milk chocolate chip and one oatmeal chocolate chip, along with a small milk. These cookies have an under-baked look and taste to them, which was sort of off-putting for me. And the aforementioned buttery-ness. After trying these, we realized we prefer cookies from Tiff's Treats, which are baked a little more and not as buttery. That being said, I'm sure if somebody gave us some JD's cookies in the future, we'd still eat every crumb, because that's what cookie monsters do! read more

Unfortunately addicted! These cookies are exactly what I've been looking for. Warm, chewy, delicious! The peanut butter chocolate chip is absolutely delicious! I can never make it to my car before stuffing my face with this one. The semi sweet with nut, delicious! Snickerdoodle, delicious! I've only been here a few times but every single time the customer service is wonderful. read more

How many of you know what Heaven tastes like? Am I talking about Tiff Treats? NO! Am I talking about Creme De La Cookie? Not even close! Ladies and Gentlemen, if you want the best cookies that Dallas has to offer, you MUST make your way to JD's Chippery. Oh my goodness, the best cookies I have ever had in my 26 years of being on planet Earth. I couldn't help but notice that a gentleman below me stated that the "cookies were undercooked." -_- Basically, if you like hard, throw-on-the-ground-doesn't-break type cookies then this place IS NOT the place for you. However for all my people that like a little crunch on the outside and gooey ooey goodness on the inside ---yes I'm still talking about the cookies--- then go ahead and stop on by. The line is generally pretty long but it's worth it. Try the cherry lemonade as well. Cash only! read more

I am on a hunt to find the best cookies in DFW. So ofcourse I had to try this place. Well, I think the customer service is really nice and they ladies at the counter were sweet..... BUT, the cookie was just okay to good. It was good but nothing that made it outstanding. I tried the chocolate chip semi sweet, the chocolate chip with oatmeal, the chocolate peanut butter and they were all good enough. The cookies were soft but not chewy and they were kind of small. I like BIG cookies. A cookie that just makes you smile when you look at it. These were not it. So, I would not turn down these cookies but I would not make a special trip for them either. read more

I'm from Fort Worth. Read online about this cookie establishment. First, was expecting a larger cookie. Purchased 1 dozen of various flavors. For me, if your snickerdoodle and white chocolate macadamia cookies pass the test, you get 5 stars. Good taste and texture. Only downer is the store is hard to get to, minimal parking. read more

JD's has some of the best muffins available! Love the Oatbranana!!! Yep, you can guess the ingredients!! AND it's good for you.

Made from scratch and some were still warm. The only thing missing was a glass of milk and they probably sold that but I didn't know I wouldn't even make it to the car before digging in. My party of five left with a dozen cookies. Every single one was delicious. Milk chocolate, M&M, snickerdoodle, sugar, semi sweet, white chocolate and white chocolate with nuts...some duplicates, in case you're counting. Every single cookie was soft and fresh. You're favorite cookie may or may not be mine but I don't think there are any wrong choices here. Delicious! No line on a weekday afternoon and three friendly, helpful people were waiting to serve us. read more

I ordered two birthday cookie cakes for a double birthday party and JDs didn't disappoint. We were going for a Texas Rangers baseball theme and they did a wonderful job customizing the cookie cakes. I like to support local and wasn't disappointed! read more

Yum...these cookies taste like they're slightly under-baked, which is just how I like 'em. Slightly crisp on the outside, buttery/doughy on the inside. I'd bet there's a half-stick of butter in each cookie, in fact. You can taste it...and it tastes GOOOOOD. Side Note: It's a bakery. What did you expect, health food? Just embrace these cookies as an occasional diet splurge or a reward for a big accomplishment. Or lunch. (What?? Don't give me that look.) I'll just say that driving around doing errands while eating these cookies made me not care about traffic. I felt slightly smug to be sitting at a red light eating that deliciousness while the people in the cars next to me looked on enviously. (At least, that's how I imagined it.) I tried the semisweet chocolate chip, the snickerdoodle, the white chocolate chip, and the oatmeal raisin. Well, technically I haven't tried the oatmeal raisin yet...I managed to scrounge up enough self-control to not eat ALL of them in one day. I think the white chocolate chip might have been my favorite, but the semisweet chocolate chip was a close second. The snickerdoodle...well, it was amazing, too, but there's not much to distinguish it from other snickerdoodles in terms of flavor (since they're all so buttery to begin with). I'll let you know how I like the oatmeal raisin. It'll be interesting to see how it tastes after about a half day in my car running around doing errands. The cost isn't too bad, I guess. I got 4 cookies for $3.25 (yeah, making them yourself is cheaper, but when you're out running errands and the craving hits...). And then I had to hold up the entire line because I had to write a check. I never have cash, and they don't take credit cards. Don't take credit cards?!? Shocker. That's something good to know before you go. Apparently I don't pay attention to the fine print at the top of each Yelp listing, because who doesn't take credit cards these days?!? read more

I was very skeptical at first from all the images, the cookies didn't look soft (I like chewy, soft cookies) but TODAY, I walked in and ordered FOUR cookies and mmmmmmm they are beyond gooood! I'm a first timer but not a last timer, LMBO! Real good cookies, not overly sweet! read more

Holy cow, these cookies are amazing! I am quite the cookie connoisseur, and these cookies get 5+ stars! All the flavors are fantastic, but the classic semi-sweet chocolate chip is wonderful. These cookies don't look that impressive but don't let looks deceive you--they are INCREDIBLE! (I'm running out of laudatory words to describe how good these cookies are.) In comparison with Tiff's Treats, JD's are great freshly baked AND a day later. Tiff's Treats are delicious, but they are a little blah a day later. read more

The Milk Chocolate and Snickerdoodle cookies are amazing here! JD's Chippery is a small little shop with a lot of charm. Tiff who? These cookies are delicious. All of them. They're crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Pure, warm yumminess. I had snickerdoodle, semi-sweet milk chocolate, oatmeal raisin, and white chocolate. All phenomenal. I honestly can't say that I liked one more than the others. And the ladies that worked there were super sweet and helpful. Not to mention, they were extremely reasonable - I bought a dozen cookies for less than 10 bucks. Such an awesome find! I can't wait to go back. read more

Peanut butter chocolate chip cookies are delicious! I will definitely be back. Staff are very friendly.

Tasted these for the first time when someone brought them to work for a birthday. It's hard to screw up chocolate chip cookies but JD's manages to do this. This was the worst chocolate chip cookie I've ever had in my life. Kroger makes better cookies. Don't bother, get Tiff's or make your own. I make incredible cookies just using the tollhouse recipe and a few tricks of my own and I wish I had my own today. What a waste of calories, especially in the new year. I would have spit it out/thrown it out, had I not been with a group of people. read more

I actually probably like these more after they've cooled for a few hours? These are great either way, but you really get all the flavors after they've had a chance to sit. Great cookies and great location. read more

I've been coming here for at least 30 years and these cookies are nothing short of magical. I swear they must sprinkle pixie dust and rainbows in their batter to make their treats so tasty! Tiff's Treats is dead to me now that I've had these. Although they don't have as many flavor options as Insomnia, the cookies are that perfect combo of crispy-crunchy outside with that juuust barely cooked and soft center. The cookies were thick and not overwhelmingly sweet, and shockingly inexpensive (~$12 for 13 cookies). read more

Best cookies in Dallas, hands down! Price is excellent, friendly service, fresh warm cookies every visit.

JD's is classic Dallas like Reunion Tower or not using your turn signal on 75. I have been hitting up JD's since it was a special after school treat for getting good grades on a report card. The only thing that has changed is they now accept credit cards and got rid of the atm in the corner. My lifelong favorites are semi sweet and white chocolate. The chocolate peanut butter are also a crowd favorite but alas I have never tried cause I am allergic. If you are a first timer and don't know what to try, ask the ladies (or the one man) cause I swear the average tenure here is about 15 years. read more

A full stick of butter helps the cookie go down.. the cookie go down...The cookies are good, but for that reason--they could not be worse for you. Every bite is full of butter and sugar, so if you are counting calories stay FAR, FAR AWAY from this place, but if you are craving a good sugary cookie then this is the place for you. Always fresh, the cookies have been warm on every occasion that someone has brought them to my school or office as treats. read more

If my mother opened up a cookie shop, it would be JD's Chippery. You walk in and you feel like you are in your Mom's kitchen: tacky wall-paper, silly figurines and antique-mall decorations, a couple chubby ladies behind the counter with aprons on, some bad color combinations and curtains. I get it, this place is about the cookies and not the decor. Bravo! When I was a kid I got cavities for two reasons: gummy bears and snicker doodle cookies. (Side note: what is a snicker doodle, technically? I still haven't figured that out.) So when I walked in and saw a snicker doodle I had to hark back to the good ole days and grab me one. You pay the pound for your cookies and note: BRING CASH. This joint doesn't accept my all-plastic lifestyle. Luckily I had a dollar on me, good for one cookie. The snicker doodle is light, buttery, fluffy, just crispy enough, a good size and has all the punch you want for $0.77. I'm a fan. read more

Angela G. and I came here once after the dog park, because hey--White Rock is close to SMU...kinda...we had both been wanting to try this place so we decided to give it a go. I was a little disappointed that most all of the cases were empty, but they assured us they had more that just weren't on display...all except for the snickerdoodles unfortunately, which we both wanted to try. I got an oatmeal raisin and a peanut butter chocolate chip, and my guy got a white chocolate/macadamia I think. In addition, they had day old cookies (they were out) and day old muffins (they had cheese ones? interesting) for super cheap. I would definitely have been open to that option but I wasn't really in the mood for cheese muffins. The oatmeal raisin was disappointing. Sadly, I prefer the Grandma's oatmeal raisin cookies out of the vending machine at work. The white chocolate one was pretty dece but it's not really a variety I particularly enjoy. HOWEVER, the peanut butter chocolate chip was H-E-A-V-E-N!!! Heaven, I tell you! It was just the right amount of chocolatey, peanut buttery, rich, chewy goodness. I wished I had about a dozen to scarf down right then and there. I was really hoping Angela was going back in for freshly-baked snickerdoodles (they said it would be 10-15 minutes) so I could get more delicious peanut butter chocolate chip cookies, but she didn't, so I regretfully abstained. This cookie is a close second to my all time favorite of oatmeal chocolate chip at Tiff's Treats---but don't be jealous JD, I have room for lots of cookies in my tummy. Too bad you don't deliver. I see here two votes for accepting credit card, but I'm racking my brain and I could have sworn it was cash only when we went. You might wanna check before you go, because you certainly don't want to miss out! read more

Whoever figured out that if you grind the seeds of that grass that's all wavy and golden in the fall and you really pound em until they turn into powder and then you add some water and maybe some fat of some kind and then you let it sit out in the open for a while and for some reason it gets all puffy and full of air (and maybe smells a little funky but also really good) and then after all that you put it into the fire and then you EAT IT BECAUSE IT'S SO WARM AND DELICIOUS, whoever did that -- way to go, because that was a really neat trick! And at J.D.'s, they've perfected a beautiful little sub-genre of that trick: Perfect muffins. Go for breakfast and get the ham-and-cheese muffin, and you will be warm and full and endorphin-laced all the way til lunch. Or, if you want to fit into your current wardrobe for the long term, the low-fat blueberry and banana muffins are delicious too. The cookies also are yummy. But I dream about the muffins. read more

About a year and a half ago, my wife took me to J D's Chippery. She's been a huge fan of the place since she was in the second grade. So finally, after hearing her rave about the place for years, we finally go in. My initial thoughts were, "Wow, this is a really small place with really small cookies." I had assumed that these cookies would be the size-of-your head cookies of the sort you see at the mall. Nope, they're about the size of the average cookie you make at home. I decided upon the white chocolate macadamia nut cookie. We get back in the car and drive off. I take my usual bite, which is almost half the cookie and immediate realize I had made a terrible mistake. Apparently, as soon as that cookie hit my taste buds, they sent a signal to my brain to release massive amounts of Oxytocin and Dopamine; I bet my pupils dialated. I chewed and savored that bite for as long as I could. Even my wife took notice and said, "Are you still working on that bite?" To which I answered, "Yes, apparently I made a mistake." She answered back with a lot of laughter. Sometimes my customers will come by my shop and give me a gift of these fabulous cookies for doing a really good job on one of their orders. Let me tell you right now, if more customers did this sort of thing...epecially with these freakin' cookies...customer service problems would be the thing of the past. "Hello! How are you? Nice weather hey? You look marvelous! Did you lose weight? (Give Me A Cookie!!!)" If I have to tell you by now that J D's Chippery's cookies are the best cookies I've ever tasted, then go back and read again...this time slower. read more

A lot of folks are into this Highland Park staple, but to me they are just "ok", or by Yelp's rating system, "Meh, I've experienced better." I really have no complaints about any of my JD's Chippery experiences other than the lack of parking, but that is a Snider Plaza problem in general. The staff is is friendly and efficient, the prices are 'ok", the the smells coming out of this place are wonderful...all making for a setting that you feel like you are going to get a great cookie, and then it is just ok. My favorite, and what i will still come here for is the Snickerdoodle cookie. They are really good. I have tried others at many places that do not measure up, but I honestly believe most people will like these. What may not far as well on the comparison chart however is the standard Chocolate Chip cookie and Oatmeal cookies. Those were nothing to write home about. read more
