Fast and friendly service! These delicious cookies taste homemade. The last time I went they nice and warm like they just came out of the oven. Parking is the only con. I think there's only 2-3 parking spots in front of the bakery. It's located near a busy intersection so maneuvering around the bakery can be annoying. I guess the location mainly caters to SMU students as the bakery is located close to the college. read more

These type of cookies are more hard with soft insides. They are good cookies and seems like convenient location for university park residents. The place is busy every time I drive by so clearly other people like it a lot but I don't think these are my style cookies. I am giving it a 4 because I do think they are good quality and taste wise is still good, but I would rather go other places for cookies. read more

As many times as I've come here, I can't believe I've never written a review. I guess there's no better time than the present. Presently, I'm downing a delicious pair of peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. These are my absolute favorite cookies and JD's makes them the best in Dallas. If you're not a fan of peanut butter, they have other options as well. I think I've tried almost all of them. Their semi sweets are a fan favorite and I like the oatmeal chocolate chip as well. If you're looking for that good home style baked type of cookie, look no further. The ladies there are always so lovely and they get you taken care of quickly. Cookies were delicious. Parking like many others have pointed out can be tricky. Service like many others have mentioned, was non-existent. Walked in, no customers, no hello. Not even a smile. Ordered multiple boxes and throughout the entire transaction, barely any eye contact. Upon paying, no thank you. Seemed like I was a huge inconvenience and she couldn't be bothered. So much attitude. I am extremely disappointed and disgusted with my order. I sent a box of cookies to a grieving family that recently lost a loved one. The box said "for life's sweetest moments". There was no notification and no warning that this message would be imprinted on the box. I find this absolutely abhorrant. Given that, baked goods are a very common condolence package sent to a grieving family - I find it absolutely disgusting that this bakery would not consider that as an important notice to disclose to customers. I hoped that this would bring comfort and peace to a family in need of support - however, I was met with extreme disappointment and shame on behalf of this establishment. Please do better. read more

This is my favorite cookie place. I was introduced to JD's back in the 90s when I went to school there. The old owner was great, he always made you smile or laugh. Great cookies, muffins and I am a huge fan of the lime coke. Don't drink soda, but when I am in there I get one. Cannot go wrong with any flavor, but the oatmeal raisin and snickerdoodle are my favorites. read more

So thankful I found this place!! Ordered a cookie cake for a birthday and a dozen cookies for us non chocolate chip fans. Their cookies were delicious and perfectly flavored. You can tell it was homemade! The only downside was their cookies weren't the chewy types of cookies you would get at tiffs treats but they are a bit more hard and crumbly. A friend recommended this place to me so I was excited to try them. They recommend the chocolate chip and it did not disappoint. These were the best chocolate chip cookie I've tried in Dallas so far. I had a lot of trouble locating their shop until I called. Their located on the side of a strip. When I found them and walked in the stag was friendly and had me in and out with my order quick. Always ask my sister in law to pick some up for us since by the time we get there they're either closed or run out of our favorite snicker doodle cookie. Come here about 3x a week for a Diet Coke. Best diet cokes in Dallas, but the workers are unbelievably rude. Every time you walk in they act as if they the customers are a burden. I'm here to remind you that is their JOB. If filling up a cup with Diet Coke is a burden then I'm scared for their futures. I'm giving it 2 stars bc the cookies r also good. The store apparently has a 2 dozen maximum policy on days it decides it doesn't have enough employees. There was no signage stating this policy and the manager told me after I placed the order. She wasn't very nice about it either. Very disappointing. read more

First time customer. I went in to pick up cookie and there was no order for me. On my notes I put Saturday, 11/29 and pick up 11/19. Well 11/29 is on a Tuesday. I would of thought the employees would of notice the conflict on dates and would of call to confirm but they didn't. Now I have nto cake to celebrate my son's bday. No Empathy. WARM & DELICIOUS CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES- what's not to like?? After seeing their award for Best Chocolate Chip Cookies in Dallas (even though its from a while ago), I knew I had to stop by here at some point. I came in on a Saturday around 1pm, and the store wasn't busy at that time but had a steady stream of customers coming in and out. Although they were sold out of most of their muffins at that time, they still had almost all the cookie flavors available. I tried: -From L to R: M&M, Semi-Sweet Chocolate, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, Milk Chocolate, Peanut Butter ($9.80/dz, http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=8xLmnvZ43szvKvqoEKYZpQ&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): My favorite was the chocolate chip, then peanut butter, M&M, peanut butter chocolate chip, then semi-sweet chocolate. I had a few bites of the chocolate chip while it was still warm and it was SO GOOD. Soft and fluffy, with a tiny bit of chew to it, and not too sweet. Highly, highly recommended! The peanut butter was also good, and the M&M (although the hard candy shell kept throwing me off, so I probably wouldn't get this again). I didn't like the pb chocolate chip or the semi-sweet chocolate much, so I wouldn't get those again either. I really regret not trying the sugar or the white chocolate, so I'll definitely have to come back for those. And the muffins- I really regret not trying a muffin! The staff here are really sweet and friendly. Parking is difficult though- there are a few spots right in front if you're planning on being there for 15 minutes or less. There is also parking for the strip mall type area a little past the store, but that also looked pretty busy. read more

Though it brings them to another level they are the best croissants. The service is hit or miss for because its inside a cafe since its the cafe staff thats heat them up sometimes the croissants taste better but they are never a miss when evaluating them on taste and quality.

We went in the afternoon and they were fully stocked with pastries. We tried the blueberry financier, croissant, chai latte, and matcha. Unfortunately, nothing tasted particularly fresh. The croissant especially missed the mark for me--none of the flaky, buttery layers I expect from a good French-style croissant. The chai was watery, and the matcha tasted mostly like milk with a hint of green coloring. Honestly, the mint-green color told me everything before I even took a sip. The location is great, the décor has a cute Parisian feel, and the staff was helpful, but overall it just didn't do it for me. I probably won't return.

I…read morefound this place on GrubHub and ordered several things to get an idea of the quality of their food. The large vanilla latte was excellent, no problem there. The blueberry scone was fresh and although I only pinched a small bite from it, I could tell it was moister and more flavorful than most, well done! I wanted to try the Chocolate Kouign Amann, since I had no idea what it was, lol. It was packed with chocolate, but it wasn't fresh, the wonderful flaky pastry was rock hard. And now the quiche - I wanted SO much to love it - it was bursting with ham and the pastry looked lovely. But the pastry was SO hard that I couldn't even cut into it! I wanted to eat it with a fork but had to pick it up to bite the top part, since it was like wood. And the entire bottom of the quiche was drenched - when I bit into a bite from the lower part, all this water came squirting out - every bite that touched the bottom part of it was squirting water! I was so grossed out, why was this happening? Unlike my fave place La Madeleine, they only send you a slice, so sadly that was my one and only experience with Village Bakery quiche. Really wish it would have been better, the other reviews showed promise.

There was a huge assortment of danish, butterfly cookies, and a variety of other baked goods. We debated about which ones to buy and picked out our favorites. They were delicious and freshly made. Service was great and they were very patient as we tried to make up our mind on which pastries we were going to buy. Prices were average for what you would expect for a homemade pastry shop. The shop had a comfy feel with cute tables and posters on the wall. We would definitely go back for more baked goods.Yum!
