She RUINED a $900 Lehenga. Please think twice before going here. I hope our experience & this review serves as a caution for people seeking service here. We were referred to this place by the boutique where we purchased the lehenga, only for a simple length alteration. I deeply regret not trusting our instincts during the measurement process. My sister repeatedly asked the tailor to use a measuring tape, but she was extremely dismissive and insisted on "hand measurements." She didn't write anything down and brushed off our concerns. The result was disastrous. The lehenga was shortened far more than requested--so much so that my sister's legs were fully visible. Worse, the hemline was uneven and poorly cut, which is clearly visible and unacceptable. The result of it was a lehenga that has uneven length which looked improper and deemed the lehenga useless.(Photo of how it was cut on the top is attached for proof.) When confronted, she attempted to fix the damage but instead blamed the boutique for a "defective piece" (the same boutique whose owner recommended her). Unfortunately, the damage was already done and could not be properly salvaged. She also ignored a specific request to include lining inside while attaching the sleeves (lining that we provided). When we pointed this out, she dismissed our concern by saying what she did "looked better," without consulting us. This was an incredibly disappointing and stressful experience. I hope sharing this helps others avoid going through the same thing. read more

No stars. My husband bought a brand new suite and dropped it off to be altered. Came back 1 week later. First the lady tried to give the wrong item. Then she couldn't even find his item. My husband had to point it out to her just to find out it was never completed. Lady said give her 30 minutes and when she finished it the sleeves were all crooked. The pants were too short. Terrible service, not professional work. She ruined a perfectly good suite that cost alot of money. DO NOT GO HERE! You've been warned. read more

JD Tailors is excellent. they fixed my too large wedding dress so it fit perfectly. I have used them to hem and fix pants many times. My husband has used them to his satisfaction many times. He is very picky about his clothes and she always comes thru. read more

I've been coming here for several years now. I've had suits altered, countless pairs of pants and some shirts. I've always been happy with the quality of work, prices continue to be very reasonable and on the few occasions where I needed something altered last minute ahead of an event the owner has always been able to accommodate. read more

Very respectable lady. Very courteous and great work ! Dropped off several pairs of pants and where done within the week.

Worst tailor I've ever come in contact with! Dropped two shirts off with them on Friday and was told the tailor would have them done by Tuesday. When I came back Tuesday they told me they weren't done because they didn't remember what I wanted done to them. They apologized and told me to come back the next day. Came back and was told they still didn't have them done and asked me to wait 30 minutes and they'd take them in. Despite the tailor personally measuring me when I dropped them off, when I finally got them home I discovered they had taken them in way too much so now they're unwearable. Additionally, they neglected to add a button I had requested every single time we had talked. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! read more

I've been going to JD Tailors for a few years now - really I can't say enough about this shop. The seamstress is so incredibly nice and her prices are great - so great that I bring things for my sister in VA to get altered. Generally I'm not under any time constraint so I'll pick up my alterations after 5 days but she has practically remade a dress for me in one day. She tailors each item to fit my body the best and sews them so perfectly that I don't bother to try it on when I pick it up - I know it will fit perfectly. I'm always amazed how she can identify some small change that makes a huge difference in my appearance. She is flexible with your time needs too. She's fixed something for me the same day; she has stayed at her store late as I raced to pick up a dress -- but I suppose being a frequent customer for 3+ years allows me a few extra perks. She can knock out something as simple as hemming or as complicated as making a dress from scratch....really she does it all! This unassuming shop is tucked away in Cross Roads next to the Toys R Us and Party City but its right off the highway and easy to get in and out. Take that pile of clothes you been meaning to get fixed to JD Tailors - you will walk out with perfectly fitting clothes at a reasonable price. read more

I needed a pair of pants hemmed and was impressed with the quality of work. The seamstress is very friendly and she only charged $8.50. Turnaround time of one week seemed a bit long for a simple hemming but it wasn't urgent so this is a minor gripe. The only other complaint is cash only. read more

I had a huge meeting one day and woke up to realize that the only suit I had clean and pressed was in need of hemming. In a panic, I stapled them up at my desk then rushed off to the meeting. Luckily, I was able to avoid embarrassment until lunch and ran off to JD to see if they could rig something temporary (better than staples) for me. My pants were taken, permanently hemmed, and returned within a 5 minute window- I even had time to get lunch. Also, she charged me less than others would have even minus an emergency and did a bang-up job. They earned a customer for life that day. read more

Sloppy work. I'm disappointed. I took a shirt to be tailored and they must've been in a rush to get it done. When I got home and looked at the shirt, there were all kinds of loose thread still clinging to the shirt. You would think they could take a few minutes to get rid of the loose thread before returning it to a customer. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! This place is the epitome of bad business practices. After reading other rave reviews about this business, I decided to give it a try being close to my house. I dropped my dress of on Monday, and needed it by Saturday afternoon for a wedding. A pretty reasonable time frame if you ask me, considered it need only to be hemmed and taken in on the sides. I called JD Tailors on Friday to ask if it was by chance ready, and they said they would call back. No call back. So I went to the store. My dress (completely unaltered and with pins still in it from Monday) was hanging in the same spot I left it. I asked why it was not done, and the lady only replied that the seamstress left on Wednesday to go out of town and would not be back until the following Monday. No phone call, no common courtesy to call and give me time to arrange another alteration, and frankly she was not sorry about the inconvenience that she had caused me. I explained that I would NEVER be coming back to a business that did not respect their customers and how upsetting it was to not even be informed that it would not be ready. They offered no solution to fixing the problem or an apology. I suggest that you take your alterations to another place that will notify you if needed and respect you as a customer. AND she was going to overcharge me anyways. I ended up finding a MUCH better alterations place that helped me in one day and charged me half the price. Do not give these people your business. read more
