When we moved into a newly constructed home, we decided to opt out of the kitchen backsplash knowing that we would take care of it later. After two years, we were finally ready and decided to purchase the same glass tile make/model used in the model home. The search for a contractor began and we contacted several for quotes. There was a highly rated tile installer in Modesto but they were booked up for the rest of the year and that was far too long for us. After looking at pictures from each contractor to get a sense of their workmanship, we decided to go with Jcustom Stone because we had a good feeling about the quality of work they were producing. We contacted the business and received a quick reply from the owner Jonathan where we setup an appointment for him to come by and take a look. He stopped by at the end of the week and provided us with a quote for the installation which was competitive compared to the other quotes we received. We decided to give him a try and he stopped by the following week to start work. Throughout the installation, we would stop into the kitchen and watch him work. We knew that the outcome was going to be good because he took his time cutting and installing each piece. He was extremely meticulous making sure that the kitchen areas were properly masked before starting the installation. After each part of the installation, he would clean up the mess left behind. The job would take a total of 3 days to complete but because we didn't order enough material, he offered to come back and finish the job at another time. Approximately two years ago I had the pleasure of meeting Johnathan from Jcustom Stone and quickly decided to let him do a shower remodel for us. Although the shower was beautiful, I started to notice my shower door not closing properly and the left side of the shower sinking. When I originally had him install the shower I decided to go with a clear glass door because there was no way I was going to cover his amazing work with the likes of a rain glass door or something similar. Apparently, the type of shower door I installed isn't recommended for the size of my shower...information that was not provided to me by the shower installer. Side note, I'll be giving that company a negative review. Anyway, my shower was leaking so I called Johnathan to see what was going on. He quickly came and took a look and stated that we would have to tear up the first two rows of the shower to see what was going on. Johnathan scheduled me right away knowing that this was my only shower which I could no longer use. After the shower door was removed along with some tiles it was clear that the shower door was the cause of the leaking and not his work. Let me make it known that this is two years after he did the remodel and no company guarantees anything past a year..that I know of. Johnathan, knowing that this wasn't his fault didn't complain once and only cared about doing right by his customer. Not once did he mention he would need to charge me, his only concern was redoing the shower and making my wife happy. I should mention that the shower company did not admit fault and offered to only give me half off. Obviously, that didn't sit well with me when Johnathan spent countless hours removing the shower and redoing his work that was damaged by the shower door leak. The damage extended to the underneath of my bathroom floor which he also replaced at no charge!!! I can't say enough of how thankful I am for Johnathan. I wanted to write an update about the awesome job Jonathan did in our kitchen. It has been 3 years since Johnathan installed the countertops and tile in our kitchen. Today we switched out our appliances. Our old oven had a tall back and our new one does not. Jcustoms was a blessing to my father helping to upgrade his small, 1933 era second floor master bathroom with a fabulous tiled shower surround, walls, and floor. Having had a very negative experience with the Oakdale Bed and Bath folks, Jonathan restored our faith in detailed, high quality, professional workmanship that seems hard to find these days. The bathroom had been gutted to the studs around the tub and 4 feet all along the walls, and old layers of flooring removed down to the original tongue and groove subfloor, A new shower surround needed to be installed over the original 1993 refinished tub. Jonathan did a very thorough job installing multiple waterproofing layers on the walls to line up the new finished tile with the adjoining lathe and plaster walls. He also used the latest materials to waterproof the shower walls and suggested a grout that would not require annual re-sealing making it maintenance free. My father was very impressed with his punctuality and clean up each day, along with the perfection and pride he put into his tile work. He even came back and carefully installed the toilet paper holder, etc through the finished tile on the wall surround to ensure the tile would not be damaged.
