What a sad day. This was my favorite brunch spot but my experience today changed everything. I always come here and recommend it to everyone and was so excited to show my friend my favorite place. I love the ambiance and I usually love to get the tamale & egg but wanted to try something different this time. Our server, Kristina R was not good at all. I am not sure if she had an off day or something but her service was not there and it felt like she was ignoring us on purpose. She checked in on us once like 15 minutes after we received our food. I had to ask 3 different people (other than Kristina) for a new glass of water because there was black stuff floating at the bottom of my cup. My second glass had the same issue, after the third person I asked brought it to me so I didn't drink water at all. I asked a gentleman for a fan fly (since our server never came to check on us) and never got it. I ordered the machaca scramble and it literally was three eggs with two pieces of meat (I've had a better machaca scramble at goodys, so good you should try it there) with no flavor. I added salt but that didn't even help, luckily the salsa helped give it flavor. I'm so bummed cause I love JC's so much and it wasn't even busy today like it usually is so there's no excuse. Looks like I have to find a new brunch spot now. read more

My hardworking daughter took me to breakfast on Mother's Day, she had reservations for 12:00 we got there at 11:30, we were seated shortly after. Then things changed, we sat there for 45 min before we got served, I understand at first they were very busy, but as time went by they really slowed down. So I asked how much longer and rudely I was told, our ticket would be coming up, 20 mins later we were served I found hair in my food which I know happens, but not once did anyone come and attend to, plus the bill came quick and was fully charged. I'm not writing this review to receive anything, but this day was ruined after this. Never will I return! read more

I reluctantly tried this place again over the weekend with the same result. The owner is just very obnoxious. The food is average and the staff is terrible. read more

While visiting Palm Desert with my friend we stopped here for Breakfast. The place we ate the day before was good, but felt heavy and sat with us all day. The food here was not like that at all. My friend got the avocado toast and loved it. She repeated her order the next day when we came back again. I got the Denver scramble with fruit and sourdough toast. The eggs were light and fluffy and tasted very good. The OJ is freshly squeezed, or at the least taste like it is. I also enjoyed the same meal when we came back the next day. We are going back for a few days this week and I'm sure we'll visit here again. read more

Great little place. Good, friendly, quick service. A nice selection of meals and reasonable prices. Food was tasty and very homey. Atmosphere was quaint and colorful. I had a turkey club with avocado and a sunshine salad. The club was good and filled with a nice portion of turkey and vegetables. It was a little dry, so asking for a little extra mayo on the side is a good idea. The sunshine salad was simple, raisins, cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, shredded cheese, and chips. The lettuce was crisp and fresh. Mom had the scramble Denver and it was nice and fluffy, wasn't over cooked potatoes, and fruit or also tasty. This is a new go to if you're in the area. Located off of El Paseo in the shopping District. read more

We eat here occasionally because the food is always excellent and the atmosphere delightful We always eat out on the patio because it is roomy and you are not too close to other diners. The waitress is always friendly and very efficient. My favorite is the Reuben sandwich. Not many places offer this but this place does an excellent job making it. I definitely plan on going back. read more

Great breakfast spot on El Paseo. Outdoor patio seating makes JC's one of favorites for a quality meal. The Machaca is my go to, and our server, Esteban, has become our favorite. He also works at Fresh Agave for lunch, and LG's Steakhouse for dinner. Both great places, I don't know how he has the energy. read more

HOLY CRAP! The food was great. BUT THE DESSERT... holy crap. AMAZING. We got the Apple pie with ice cream and it came warm, and not overly sweet. You cannot leave this place without trying it. 10/10 recommend! read more

we haven't been to JC's for a couple of years and decided to go this mornin. we wanted to split a breakfast so we ordered a French Frittata which sounded delicious. what we got was a small slice of egg quiche. there was the smallest dab of sour cream on top with a smaller piece of avocado on top. so disappointing for $16.00. it was supposed to be to filled with all sorts of stuff but wasn't. Ambiance is fine and service was good. Food definitely didn't fill us up. will eat an early lunch. read more

I used to love it here, but the food quality has gone downhill. A lot of stuff is clearly microwaved. The management, I believe she is the owner, is typically rude and unprofessional. She's not pleasant to deal with. There are plenty of places on el Paseo with much better food and a less unpleasant hostess/owner. 2 stars because the servers are all really sweet and do a good job. read more

We really had a good meal and good experience here. The outdoor dining is nicely situated in a cute, quiet courtyard with heaters in El Paseo's high-end shopping district. I enjoyed the Cali breakfast burrito with scrambled eggs, avocado, blacks beans, and cheddar cheese, with refried beans on the side. Everything tasted fresh, and the portion was plentiful. My husband got scrambled eggs ,sausage, and marble toast. He liked everything. The Bloody Mary was nicely spiced and a bargain for only $8. All of the staff members were very friendly and set a congenial and welcoming vibe. The restaurant is dog-friendly outdoors and provides a fresh bowl of water to each dog whose owner is eating there. The prices are really reasonable and the quality of the food is good. The breakfast and lunch menus are varied. I look forward to returning. read more

Your typical breakfast/ brunch place. Heard a lot of nice things about this place so what better way then to actually try it out. Obviously everything covid, it was all outdoor dining. Nice cute little patio seating. The menu is your basic brunch menu. I opted for a club sandwich while the others went with the benedict. My sandwich was ok, nothing major to rave about. Typical ham, turkey and bacon served with chips. It was good. While the others had benedict, smoked salmon. Well, let's say you were looking for the salmon. It was basically literally a piece of smoked salmon. Other places were not skimpy of it. It seemed like they just used what was left and and try to cover it with the egg. There was basically none whatsoever. And the fact that both that ordered it said the same thing. Service was good which was nice. But what we ordered just seemed just ok. You get your hopes all up hearing about how good it is and then the disappointment. Overall, service was nice. Food could have been better but nice to actually try it out. read more

The service was great, very warm and friendly. The food was AWFUL. The avocado toast was a burnt piece of bread with two huge thick sliced pieces of tomato and sliced avocado with absolutely no seasoning or flavor. The plate was accented with wilted lettuce. The fruit looked and tasted like it had been sitting out for several days. Overripe and squishy cantaloupe, yellowed watermelon. The eggs on the egg dish were completely unseasoned and over cooked. It was supposed to be a scramble but nothing was scrambled into the eggs. None of the food had any flavor. Super disappointing and won't be back. read more

Love sitting outside JC's for a casual brunch. Good food, great reasonably priced drinks (all day happy hour!) and efficient service.

Amazing food! And outstanding service! I love the vibe it brings and how clean the environment was. 10/10 totally will go again. :)))

First off, great mom and pop restaurant. The owners are so kind and extremely hard working. Now the food. The menu is diverse but not so much the food is generic. I usually get the Florentine Benedict. Creamed spinach is delicious. Ramon cooks the poached eggs to perfection. I have also had the steak breakfast burrito. Everything is delicious. They have a full bar with tasty bloody Marys. Get in there, you won't regret it. Say hi to Casey and Michelle the owners. read more

This is a pleasant restaurant to sit outside when weather permits. They have umbrellas to block the sun. I have lived in Palm Desert 20 years and been going off and on after I discovered it. My out of town friends came for Stagecoach 2024. They loved it and thought prices were reasonable too. One drink was sent back. A shack that one person didn't care for. Great ambiance and I love the avocado toast. Must for visiting guests. It's hard to find unless you know it's there. Love it and will be back. read more

Delicious food and great service, love the drinks especially the prices are very reasonable for what you get

Pretty basic. Nice shady outdoor courtyard space with bubbling fountain. Cheerful staff. But they said they were short-handed on this Friday afternoon. The table next to us was dirty when we got there and hadn't been cleared when we left. The Naugahyde table topper, dessert list, and salt and pepper shakers on our table felt sticky (eeew). Service was slow. We waited for them to take our payment for quite awhile. Finally we took it inside ourselves as did another woman, and a couple left because they hadn't been acknowledged or had their order taken. Our food was fine; good flavors but nothing extraordinary and a modest size considering the price. They were kind to split it without a charge. I wish I could be more complimentary but our experience was lacking. read more

We were part of James P.'s party of 14, on Saturday October 8, 2022. We had just finished the PEPP, breast cancer walkathon and we're ready to relax, eat, and share the day's event. Terrific service and delicious food. Came during peak hour and still got our food within a reasonable time.

I'll start off this review to say we do not recommend and we will not be coming back here. We were in PS for the weekend and came here for a late breakfast/early lunch as a party of 4. We were told the wait would be 10-15 minutes. Wait ended up being more than 30 minutes. We did see the restaurant take precautions for COVID; however, the owner wore his mask without covering his nose (which defeats the purpose of wearing a mask) and he was walking around a lot. We were able to put in our orders once we were seated. However it continued to go downhill from there. We had a lot of time to observe what was happening around us. We noticed that several tables that were seated after us and therefore had put in orders after us would get their food served before us. We noticed that the owners and the wait staff would visit other tables and check in on them several times but they did not stop by our table at all. Our party was completely ignored. We noticed several other tables getting the same treatment as us. It seemed that the locals were the only ones that got service and special treatment as we noticed that the owner was very partial to them and would only visit their tables. If you weren't a local, he would ignore you (which I am partly glad since he wasn't wearing his mask properly). We waited for over 30 minutes for our food. We noted that the menu said to limit our dining to 1 hour. However the food took longer to get to our table than it took for us to eat it. Food was average and small for the prices that they were charging. Steak and egg burrito and tortilla burger were small. The salsa had more kick than the green chile in the tortilla burger. The tater tots were stale and not crispy at all. Our friends got the French dip and pastrami sandwiches. They were also really small and they messed up the sides. We do not recommend coming here if you are not a local. We can find better and more substantial food at lower prices. We will not be going back here. read more

For a small place, they do quite well. Servers: Very friendly, and were understanding that two of our group cancelled last minute so we four were taking up a table for 6. Food: Everyone at the table thought theirs was good! Drinks: Great Bloody Marys! New York (bagel & lox - She has it everywhere and said this was the best ever. Spinach frittata- She loved it. Chili/cheese scramble- Good, needed a bit more chili, and salt on potatoes. Atmosphere- Kinda crowded, but it had rained so everyone was inside. Reminded me of a small country restaurant. Friendly and they offer pillows for anyone with a back issue. Hard backed chairs, didn't seem to bother most. I'd love to see more GF options. read more

LOVED EVERY MINUTE! Can't believe its taken me so long. Easy to miss from the street. Food (Greek scramble + tasty potatoes), atmosphere, and a fabulous team knocking it out of the park.
