I have to Yelp about the jewelry dept at Jcpenny's, I've been buying jewelry there for some years now & decided to Yelp about it. The jewelry is good quality and you can score nice pieces of jewelry at 50%-75% off. For example I bought a beautiful champagne diamond ring original cost $4,700, and I bought it at 75% off i paid little over $1 000 for it. I usually buy during & after Christmas, but they have sales throughout the year and they have a big clearance section for men, women, and teens. The sales personnel are great and at times when it's busy you'll have to wait your turn, not too long, but we'll worth the wait. The store is always clean and in order plus I found out this Jcpenney's store will not be closing it will remain open along wirh four other stores in Tucson. Argh! Great and terrible in equal measure. Beautifully laid out stock -- except in the area I want to shop in, which is a jumbled mess. Sales clerks who can't be bothered to stop gazing into each other's eyes, followed by clerks who go WAY out of their way to get you exactly what you want and need. We experienced the good, the bad, and the ugly, all in the same visit. And that's the sum of it. There are clerks on the floor I want to recommend to management -- if I could even find management -- and clerks I just wanted to shoot. Argh! And there's no way to tell who's who except to tackle one and ask for help. On the plus side, while waiting for someone -- anyone -- to wander near the area of interest, I sat down on an empty product table and searched Amazon for the things I wanted, and it was at Amazon that I ultimately purchased what I needed, despite the very helpful older saleswoman who graciously rooted through the jumbled mess of clothing racks to find things for me to try on. Later, a cashier, ringing up an order for my wife, asked her what she had not been able to find. "Oh! We have those! What size?" and off she went to some unknown part of the store and five minutes later returned with just the thing my wife had been looking for. Amazing service. So, for my review of the store...often it is unorganized and doesn't have a great selection. It's difficult to find help and I've had employees walk by without acknowledging me. I am reviewing only to give props to a manager whom I believed is named Heather. I was in the last weekend of June to purchase a microwave. It was the last one and it was already on sale but I was given additional discounts with coupons and because the box was missing. I got a great deal. Heather was responsive, informative and friendly. She had also recently moved so she gave me some tips on how to get discounts for various purchases. She's an asset to your company. read more

This is my first time back here in about two years since the fiasco with the former CEO who brought them down into the pits of retail sales and repulsing their customer base. It seems like nothing happened at all. Lots of sales clerks around, no tiered pricing signs, and sale signs posted everywhere. It's the same JC Penny's that I remember. I don't know if this store ever went the replace-valuable-employees-with-iPads route, but if they did, there is no indication that it ever existed. Same layout, same lighting, same feel. Nothing spectacular, but who cares, it gets the job done and there's nothing wrong with it. The reason why a JCP customer is a customer is because of good inventory, sales on that inventory, and service. This store has all three. After looking at their website for sales on my favorite jeans (Arizona Jeans) and seeing they were on sale, I also checked for an online coupon and found one for 15% off of total purchase. I printed it out and took it to the store and not only got sale prices on my jeans but I received an additional 15% off. I went there with a couple of hours to closing and the two clerks at the cash register commented that this was the first coupon they had seen all day and that I was a smart shopper. I'm going to go back online and see if there's a way to sign up to receive coupons in the mail like the old days. So that's a tip for you: check online for coupons. I'm glad they have a new CEO and that they went back to doing things the way we customers liked and that they don't have silly pricing tiers anymore and that they abandoned controversial and silly advertising. DON'T GO! I went in yesterday looking to get some color correction at the top of my head about an inch I originally have bright blonde hair and I just wanted my roots to match the website prices are nothing like what the actual prices are I was lucky to pay around $100 for two hours end up staying there for four hours and paying $300. When I left my hair was brown from top to bottom with red undertones the exact opposite of what I asked for. I didn't even have my hair styled or blow dried it was wet when I left so I couldn't even see the true color I also had to pay for my service before I was even done and could see the final result. Keep in mind this was a day and a half before Thanksgiving and so I had to get my hair fixed somehow and at least get the red tones out so I went to a salon early in the morning and got the red tones taken out but it would cost me another $200 to get my blonde back. Before I went to salon I called JCPenney at least three times and they never picked up their phone so I thought they were closed but after my hair appointment I shot over there to see if they were open and they were and I went in there and requested a refund and they told me they would have to investigate it and let me know if they could give me my money back. Which is ridiculous considering I've spent thousands of dollars and countless years trying to get my hair to a perfect blonde and it was ruined and one hair appointment with her hairstylist was rude and did not give me the color I want it at all quite actually the opposite!!! read more

(This review is for the salon!) - OMG, you HAVE to come here and ask for Leigh!!! Leigh is amazing! She's literally the first haircut and color I've truly been happy with in YEARS!! Even going to high-end, expensive and highly reviewed salons! The prices are so much better here at JC Penny, and Leigh is just the best! (When you ask for her, just fyi her name is pronounced "Lee") Ladies, trust me, if you have been looking for a reliable, attentive stylist who will actually listen to you and what you want done, and then DO IT RIGHT, then Leigh is your girl! She will really work hard to make sure she makes your vision for your hair into a reality -- she'll take the time to look at any inspo you bring in, and/or take the time to really listen to what you want and how you want it to look, and all throughout the cut she kept on checking with me if it was okay to cut certain lengths off on certain places. She really wanted to make sure I was going to be happy when she was done. At first when I saw her I was coming in for a cut (putting layers in my hair after years of all one length), and at the very last second I asked if we could maybe do a little color and add some blonde moneypieces framing my face. Even though it hadn't been scheduled in when I called/she wasn't planning on doing any color for me (and she was actually about to get off work after my appointment), she was kind enough to stay later past her shift so she could do that for me! What an angel! I loved my cut and blonde moneypieces so much that I actually ended up coming back in a month to get a blonde baylage done!! She did AMAZING, it looks SO good! I feel totally transformed after this last appointment with her! She is truly talented and knows what she's doing, and she has such a fun, great personality on top of it all! She's so easy to talk to! We had a great time talking about anything and everything, and also when I wanted to work on some stuff on my phone she was fine with letting me focus and just quietly doing her work. All-around, everything you want in a stylist. Whenever I am in Tucson, she is going to be my go-to for sure. Made an appointment for color & cut about two weeks prior. I show up and they tell me that the hairdresser won't make it in because of car trouble. I ask them why they didn't call me ahead of time, (my appointment was at 11) and they said they had just found out. So I leave disappointed and a couple hours later, the hairdresser who didn't show up to do my hair, calls me apologizing and says that she called the store at 10:30 so they would let me know. I experienced the worst customer service from employee Brianna of JC Penny's Home Decore dept. I also question her competence in being in this department after an order she placed for me arrived completely wrong. We went through at least 30 minutes of discussion where I answered all her questions in ordering just 1 custom blind. When I pointed out her error in detail via email in a calm and civil manner, she did not respond. With fair warning, I contacted her supervisor, Joey, who apologized but who was not her supervisor at the time the incident occurred. While I am due a refund, money is not the real issue as much as her complete lack of accountability, and stepping up to provide an explanation. An apology from her would have been appropriate as well but instead, she left that to her supervisor. It appeared as though she couldn't care less about the entire incident or that her supervisor had to apologize on her behalf. I would recommend staying clear of this department and maybe the entire store. It's my understanding the store manager is somewhat aware of this incident but has not contacted me for any details. read more

This review is for the salon. I know. When you think of penny's, you don't think of hair. You think of work clothes and Sephora. I get it. I thought the same thing. Then came Aubrey. She freaking rocks my Sox. She does a great job and makes every effort to accommodate my insane coloring ideas. (Not too insane lately as work doesn't let me have fun colors.) THIS IS NOT A SMART STYLE. it's not the same thing as going to a Walmart to get your hair done. I've made that horrible mistake before and ended up hating my life for three weeks during the akward grow out stage. The salon: clean, great variety of product for sale, usually with some specials and clearance items, and it's in the mall. Bonus for that. The only bad thing is the manager, but I won't dock points for that. She is super rude to her employees. Don't talk to people like that. Be a leader. Don't be a douche. Wish I could give them no stars. Their sales associates are too busy talking to each other instead of assisting customers, and when they do attempt to assist you, they're clueless. Don't even try to go through their sales racks unless you have a few days to look through them. Sizes are all over the place mixed together. Shirts, pants, dresses, skirts are all mixed in together, and so tightly hung next to each other, you can't even see what you're looking at. Do they actually want to sell anything? The store was a bit unorganized although they had a lot of great sells for the holidays. The seasonal selection was horrible it was this tiny little hallway and absolutely had no options. The service wasn't great at all and what bothers me over the entire experience was I was in line for 15 minutes and one of the cash register girls stops and chats with her friend for about 10 minutes while there's still a massive line. I went to JCP last weekend and found a top that I loved, only problem was it was in the wrong size. I spoke with a Sales Associate- Anna, who seemed very helpful. She looked on the computer to see if there were any other sizes, there weren't. Then she looked to see if any other JCP stores in Tucson carried the blouse, none did. So Anna offered to order one online for me. I agreed to have it shipped to the store because of free shipping and asked Anna if she could also put on hold the top I had tried on, so when the blouse arrived, I could try them both on. She did, and I saw her write multiple times on the tag "DO NOT PUT BACK. ON HOLD" Yesterday on my way to work I received a call that my blouse had arrived, I responded that I would come in Saturday around 6 pm to pick it up. They said that was fine. Today when I went in to pick up my top, none of the sales associates could find it. As a matter of fact, they brought me a pair of shoes they said were ordered for me, and I hadn't ordered any shoes. I asked if they could find the original top in the wrong size that I'd tried on, the one Anna was holding for me. They couldn't find that either. I asked if Anna was working, because I figured she would be more help. No one could confirm whether or not Anna was working. So, I walked a few laps around the store and couldn't find her. The store associates offered to order the top for me again, but I declined, because I just can't go through this again. It was maddening. When I got to my car, I went online to order the blouse myself and they don't have the top in the color I wanted, so I was glad I saved myself the aggravation of ordering it through the sales associates again. Wanted pictures of my grandchildren. The photographer was not prepared for dealing with infants as there weren't any props used to hold my smallest grand baby in place.. so the picture has her dads arm in it. Nothing to make the babies smile , no toys, squeaky, feather dusters. So i went to Tucson Mall just to go to the JC Penny salon. The ad says they are opem till 8pm and they take walkins. They in fact do not accomadate walkins till 8pm regardless of what the ad states. I arrived at 6:30 and they close at 8pm. I asked if i could get a cut as a walk in. The first person i encounter says no everyone is booked and will be for the remaining time. Then she goes and gets another women. ( a stylist at this point, i assume) She said about the excat same thing the receptionist had said. I then asked all 4 of your stylist are going to be busy the remaining 2 plus hours your open? The answer was yes. Bottom line is that they DO NOT ACCOMADATE walkins till close. This is for the Salon. I booked an appointment with Jennifer after texting her a picture of the color I wanted and then texting her a picture of my current hair. I get there and was told by the receptionist she's running behind. As I'm sitting there listening to the receptionist and another stylist make racial jokes she finally comes up. She then seats me and tells me she's going have to add more bleach than she thought but "not to worry it's the same price." She stated she didn't realize how dark part of my hair was. She then tells me she's going to mix the color. I let her know since she was running behind that I did have dinner plans and she assured me I'd be done quickly as "it won't take much." Well 45 minutes into my appointment she comes back with no color that she had been "mixing" instead a note pad stating that the price had changed from $80 to $195. I took off the cape and walked out. I drove from Vail to the Northwest for this. She completely wasted my time. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this salon. read more

Too bad I can't give zero star review. We went shopping for men's suits. Found some good deals. Three suits purchased. The employee who checked us out took the security tags off the three jackets, but not the pants. I called when we got home and realized it. I asked for the men's department, the person who answered did not identify himself, but by the voice I would say it was the kid who checked us out. I explained that we live 20+ miles away and don't want to drive all the way back, but I was told we had to come back to have the security tags removed, and he hung up. Note: no apology, no offer of anything for the inconvenience. I called back and explained the situation to the girl who answered the phone and asked for security. She transferred me three times to three different people who couldn't help. Finally an assistant manager got on the phone and told me that if it was too far to drive back, that I could go to like a WalMart an ask them to remove the security tags!! Again, note: No apology. This manager also didn't ask me who the sales associate was so that he could use this as a teaching moment... nothing, just said that WalMart "probably" has the ability to remove the tags. I cannot believe we have to drive 20+ miles BACK to the mall to get these tags removed so that my husband can wear the pants tomorrow. This is ridiculous!! I will not shop, nor recommend JC Penney. How far you have fallen. Not even an apology..... from anyone..... sad. read more

I wanted to buy a basic tennis shoe for work and there was not a single pair of shoes for less than $65, even the really ugly cheapo fabric ones were horribly over priced. They keep trying to rebrand themselves with so much competition out there. I personally don't shop here because I am a TJMAXX, Marshall's devotee. But my hubby does like their selection on men's shorts. He had cut out an add for shorts in our newspaper. Also there was a big sale going on. $13.99 for what he wanted. We saw every color but the one he wanted. A couple of the sales associates were so helpful. Checking inventory, making calls to other stores, just caring so much about satisfying us. Anyhow, tucked away on another counter I found the right color and size. We couldn't believe the service we received from these ladies. We went on November 15 to have holiday pictures of my son taken. We had no problem making an appointment (done online earlier in the week). We did have to wait about 15 minutes- not a problem since it was a Saturday. My son is 2 and wasn't really excited about having his picture taken that day. I wasn't sure what t expect having never been there before. The photographer did a great job! The pictures were amazing. We will definitely go back and I really hope the same photographer is working. She was great and worked really hard to get the great photos! When I picked up the pictures they had printed several others in the hopes we would buy more. The photos I ordered are great. I'm sure all the grandparents will love them! read more

Absolutely terrible experience today at JCPenney Portraits. I waited forever with my infant son. By the time I got seen, the man was very slow and didn't help much with props (I even had to remind him of the background color). I had to tell him every little detail for the props and background. I tried to put paper poms out, and he said there was enough out. He did not try to make my baby smile at all and blamed it on my baby. He was tall, dark, and heavy set and so my baby found him scary, and he didn't do anything to convince him otherwise. My son was fine with me, but not with him. He was a horrible photographer - when there was a good shot he was too slow to capture it. Then he said we should take a break to make my baby more comfortable. I waited for a long time after that to get seen again. By the time it came to cake smash my baby was very tired from all the waiting. The photographer did not try at all with the cake smash (he didn't even put the props back how they were before - just a blank background with no props and the cake) - I had to tell him to take at least one picture (there were a few good shots) - I think he just didn't want a mess to have to clean. So there was no cake smash. He kept telling the baby he had other appointments to get to. He was adamant about me rescheduling - I would have taken better pictures at home. It was a huge waste of time - terrible place for infant pictures. Do not go here for 1 year pictures - they take forever just to see you and put forth little effort then blame it on the baby. They rush you the whole time trying to get to the next client, and they don't put forth the necessary time and effort needed for infants. Afterwards he did not ask if I wanted to see what pictures he took. He just went on to the next client and assumed I didn't want to order anything - so I left. Nothing was emailed to me afterwards as well. He must've deleted all the pictures. All that time and effort for nothing. I didn't even get compensated for such a horrible experience. I cried all the way home. I've decided to take them at home - they will turn out better too. I can do 10 times better with my eyes closed. This was one of the worst experiences of my life! read more

I asked what about me paying early never late with you for 6 years they said it dose'nt matter. I have shopped at this JCP for many years b/c I usually loved the inventory & prices. However I would gladly pay more for clothing made in the USA with better quality & the upper management should take a section of Retail 101 & give better customer service! It appears the store is micromanaged (as many stores are these days). The lines to pay are long (even on the weekend & b4 holidays). I don't know their SOP but it appears there are employees standing or wandering around & cannot check you out until a line manager gives them notice. On Sat a manager sent ONE customer over to shoes after asking him on her walkie talkie if he was online. Then she yelled "sorry" to him. Why - was he too busy putting up shoes or what? Why not send 3 or 4? Oh wait, there's also penny stuff (junk) to sell while waiting by the main registers + I suppose the sales have to surpass the measly wages associates salaries so the current CEO can buy his 10th house or 5th car. Then if they mess up big time they still get the golden parachute Corporation upper management just does not get why they are failing in brick & mortar stores -- please give your customers better SERVICE & maybe we won't shop online as much. There are still people out there that want to look & try on clothing b4 purchasing. It would also make sense to have less "stuff" so we can move around the store more easily. Jcpenny portrait studio, no problem making a same day appointment for graduation pictures for my nephew especially since I was coming from Cali, photographer took her time, nice photos, friendly, was a little bother the photographer kept walking out in the middle of the photo session to answer the phone but understandable she was the only one working, a bit disappointed I couldn't use my membership from Cali because I couldn't access my membership number and I guess jcpenny doesn't keep membership info in there system.. Weird.. Tried looking online for my membership info but no luck.. Anyways nice pics.. Try looking up coupons online only thing is u can't add enhancements to photos to get the coupon deals..
