Stopped in to JC Penney at the Oaks Mall in Thousand Oaks. The store was well organized and the staff quite helpful. I was looking for a sport coat blazer and looked at quite a few. I happened to find a great deal on a Stafford blue sport coat priced at $200 on clearance for $59. They had several coats on special and I was looking for a 44 L and sure enough the blue one had my name on it. The blazer fit perfectly. The customer service at the JcPenny is beyond. My friend and I first stopped it at the JcPenny Beauty space which used to be Sephora. I guessed they've broken up their partnership but no worries. I was looking for the setting spray and so corrector but a less expensive brand. The associate was nice and recommended a few. I made my purchase and she invited me back for their grand opening in a few days. We then hit up the shoe department and noticed there were some sells. Went up to the register and asked if there were any coupons and the gentleman that was ringing me up said No. The cashier right next to him said they did have a 35% off coupon and stated I could go online to obtain it. Boom.. I got the $75 boots for 25 bucks after it being on sale and an additional 35% off. What great customer service. This JcPenny is clean. My only criticism is that they don't have enough checking out stations as they used to. I'm an old soul and I still like to shop in person, get my steps, interact with others but dislike super long lines. The line was pretty long, we walked around, came back and there were only 2 people in line. JCPenney is one of my favorite stores! My mom, Abuelita (grandma) and I spent many weekends shopping here. They used have even better deals but I still think you can still get great clothes for a reasonable price! read more

Don't get Levi Jeans at JC Penney. If you take the tag off they won't let you return them. Also they are way over priced at $75 each when everywhere else is $65 or less. I got a pair didn't have time to try them on in the store and they don't fit right so I tried to return them today and the lady said they can't return Levi's unless the tags are still on the jeans. I've never had this happen before and I've returned jeans many times. Terrible customer service and I'll never shop there again after this experience. read more

I love Raelene. She does amazing haircuts and color. She's always thinking of creative ways of doing my color so that I keep my blonde color but it looks fresh and new each time. She will add shades of blonde to give my hair dimension. Or sometimes she will change the type of highlights she does. I LOVE her razor cuts. I always get compliments on my hair. Let me start by saying the reason I like JC Penney is that they tend to have a good selection of clothes in a lot of different sizes. I've been a size 6 and a size 16 and I have always found cute clothes I liked at JC Penney. They also sometimes have Tall clothes in stock, though when they don't, I know the brands that they carry that offer Tall and I can try on the regular length one in the store and then order the Tall version from their website online. This JC Penney is in the Oaks Mall and is pretty decent-sized. It's clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. When I order online they make it easy to return things and don't give you a hard time. Last week I had to return a pair of pants that arrived in the wrong color and size. The woman at the customer service desk also re-ordered the correct color and size and gave me a discount on the price due to the inconvenience. Overall I am very happy shopping here. Oh, I also like their hair salon a lot and typically get my hair cut here at this location. I have also had it colored at least once here and was very pleased with the results. read more

Black Friday ad had several coupon giveaways $10 off $10 etc these people had one short lady hiding behind clothes rack pretending to give out these coupons supposedly the main entrance of the mall. If it's something nationwide why aren't they proactively handing out these coupons. Should have welcomed us into the store with the coupon instead of asking for them. This lady also was handing out these coupons to the Hispanics as if they were related to her. There are disabled citizens out there and you're ass expects them to walk around looking for a woman trying to hide. Ridiculous behavior not friendly or showed holiday spirit. read more

I am highly disappointed in JCP NEVER BUY A MATTRESS FROM JCPENNEY!!! I have been dealing with a defective mattress for almost a year I purchased a Queen Beauty Rest that was not satisfactory In 2021 I have painfully been dealing with JCP who made me pay in advance for a replacement promising to reimburse me when they picked up the original one. Months and months later after I paid $1100 on top of the original purchase I NEVER got my mattress JCP sent a damaged mattress to RYDER who delivers for them. Several dates were set to deliver to me through automated as well as calls. NEVER did I receive anything nor one call or email from any customer service representative from JCP. I feel it was a deliberate act in shipping a damaged mattress to stall. I feel this way because NOT ONE attempt has ever been made to make this order right its bad customer service and bad business. On top of that JCP kept my $1100 for MONTHS I sent several emails demanding resolution. Very stressed out. I eventually got a credit of $900 they KEPT $200!!!! Because I was forced to come up with the money to buy in advance for my warranty replacement I had to purchase a gift card for $200 to complete the purchase!!! If things were the other way around and I did not pay my bill I would be getting calls and late fees. But here jcpenny gets to steal from their customer and not honor a warranty I am so extremely disappointed THIS IS THE JCPENNY NEWS I HAVE THAT JCP MUST BE IN DIRE NEED TO KEEP CUSTOMERS MONEY AND NOT HONOR WARRANTIES. I was doing some Christmas shopping at JC Penney and I had a sales person "Barbara" help me with my purchase. She went above and beyond by using coupons that I didn't have to bring my total down tremendously. She went through all the resources that I didn't know I had to reduce my final total. The Optical department inside JC Penny was horrible. I already had a prescription so I went on November 17 and order glasses & sunglasses. When I went to pick them up I couldn't see out of them. Only to find out the prescription was wrong. Employee Nathan apparently wrote a + not - big mistake. Reordered and waited another 18 days. Still wrong!!! Went to the salon inside JCPenney for a wash and blow dry. I called ahead of time they said $32 and they had a African-American stylist to do my hair. Upon arrival my stylist wasn't African-American and also totally up charged me $80 and said my hair was more "complex" because I have tight curls n short hair. I would not recommend this place at all as a African-American women. I only paid it because I was in a rush. read more

I was downstairs in the men's department and found a necktie that should've been on sale next to the other one in the done section. this clerk cannot help me find a way to get a discounted price. I was referred to the department manager named Michelle. she refused to let me buy the necktie for $33.49. Michelle told me that the necktie is around $49.00. I got frustrated because the lack of customer service from the department manager Michelle. so I walked out. then I told her behind my back that; you have just lost a long time Customer! my message to all would be customers, don't shop here at JCPenney in Thousand Oaks. this department manager Michelle did a poor job on for filling my customer service needs. This JCP is just okay. Nothing special. I think it is rather small and does not have a very big selection. They took away a whole section of clothing to add a Sephora which I am not sure was necessary since there is a Sephora downstairs in the mall area. The registers are hard to find and so are the employees. The dressing rooms were a mess and clearly had not been attended to in a long while as the clothes were piling up in all of the rooms. We were able to find what we were looking for this trip and the sale prices were fairly good. read more

Ok, so I never even go into this store, but today I had to. I was shopping very out of the way where no one would know me. And, JC Penney was having quite a sale; I had to go in to find cheap shirts! The clothing selection, as you might expect, is pretty mediocre. But, I did walk out of there with a cute, cheap tank top. It's cheap like Old Navy cheap. It costs little and will wear out soon. I'm well aware of that fact. The store also carries some of the sportswear for girls that Alyssa Milano makes. I was going to get a Dodger shirt for my upcoming game. Apparently in Alyssa Milano's world, XL is different than it is in mine. No shirt for me. I did get some USC shirts for the hubby for super cheap. Customer service was nice, although the lines were too long. The other customers were also very nice. Lots of fun costume jewelry too. Perhaps when no one is looking, I'll sneak back in! read more

I love love love Jcpenny. First because it is so convenient with shopping for everything in one store without having inside the mall! They have Disney collection so a TON of disney clothes, toys (it really feels like the disney store!) , they have the cutest disney toddler clothes and even non disney clothing and the best part is they are always having sales! I also love that they have a Sephora of course inside the store and I love they have the photo department for photos of your little one! I usually do not go to a mall or a salon that's inside of a department store for my haircuts. However, today I was in a bind and with the holiday season coming up, I needed my eyebrows touched up and a MAJOR haircut. It was an enlightening experience as when I walked in, I was greeted immediately by staff and signed in. I didn't have to wait long, and the hairstylist Ava was wonderful! I've had horrible experiences at hair salons (I'm eyeballing you Fantastic Sams), and with the holiday rush coming about. I was both fearful and anxious, but Ava was attentive and listened to my thoughts. Since there wasn't any reception down there I couldn't show her a picture of the style I wanted. So I had to walk her through how I would want my hair, and she got it perfect! Kudos to this salon, and the service that was provided. Will definitely be coming back again! read more

I would also like to thank the manager who was there yesterday as they closed down for the covid-19 quarantine. She tried to help me get my glasses from Optical, rang up my purchase and kindly talked to all the employees who were readying for at least 2 weeks with no work. She should be commended. If I were to review this place I place a zero stars. I had a horrible experience at this place today 4/3/19 at 8:30pm. I went to check out and the associate on the register said that the prices on the shirts we got were not tagged properly cause that wasn't the price. She said that it was other customers and started peeling the tags off. Called The manager on duty Tamara. I told her the situation and told her that she had to honor the price and she said no. I told her it wasn't out fault. It was a mistake either my her crew most likely. Cause the stickers were sticked on well. I have manager experience and price has to be sold according to what it says customers are always right. She was a real mean felt discriminated by her cause I felt like I was the one that changed it. I have not been here in a while and I don't like that the check out registers are now only on one side of the store. It's not convenient. What I did like is they seemed to have a lot to choose from. The retail staff at JC are awesome! I want to get the attention of the JC Penny Management. I had a bad experience with the JC Penny portrait department. I wrote a 1 star review.I read everyone's 1 Star reviews. Larane is the common issue. She tells people to come in. And she's not even at the mall. Then the other departments are nice and say you can wait here. You can wait over there. The point of appointments is so people will be there when you arrive. Read the reviews. Larane is the evil villain of multiple peoples day. All she had to say to people is "no we are not available at that time". But instead she would like you to wait for her. Once again the retail workers and the neighboring departments are awesome very friendly and saw the fault in my situation I hope management fix this issue and post a now hiring sign soon read more

I was recently at J C Penney's in Thousand Oaks and was very impressed with the quality of merchandise and how nicely everything was displayed. There were also enough sales people to assist shoppers and I had a very nice experience in the jewelry Dept with a lovely lady (wish I could remember her name). Anyway there are many department stores now with very old merchandise that is thrown together and very difficult to even locate your size and style so this was a very nice shopping experience. read more

Tried to buy a suit for my husband today, could find any store employees to help out. When I asked a cashier if there was anyone working in the suit department, he answered with one word..."NO". He never offered to call someone over to help me. Their were literally 3 other customers in the entire store. I can see why JCPenny is suffering, worst customer service I have EVER encountered. NOTE: This review is for the JCPenny salon, and not the store. I do not like to shop at the store. Too expensive, slow, not good product. I have been coming to the salon for the past 2 years. My stylist is Eman, who is amazing. I knew her from a previous salon, and she has done my hair for 3 years. When Eman came to JCPenny, I followed, and glad I did. Not only are the prices affordable for a hair cut (I have long hair and even though I do get charged a long hair fee, it is less expensive than most salons), but they also have great deals on salon tools like Chi straighteners, Paul Mitchell Hair care, and other salon select brands. They sell the good stuff, and most of the deals are buy one get one free. If you are a JCPenny rewards member, you can input your phone number when purchasing products or a salon service to make sure you get points. The salon is always very quiet, and there only 2 or 3 stylists on site. I would make sure to make an appointment because there may be a wait. It is the mall's best kept secret. The salon is great but it isn't really advertised. I usually have Eman do a wash, cut, and blow dry, and it's close to 50. In addition, this time, for the first time, I did color! I have always had long brown hair, and I went with high lights. I love it. It looks amazing! She was very helpful throughout the process and walked me through each step! Thanks Eman!!! read more

We bought a mattress & foundation at an amazing price on Labor Day weekend but they ordered the wrong size foundation. We looked at our receipt when we got home but was all codes we don't understand, we couldn't even tell what mattress we bought. When the day came for delivery the driver called and asked if we ordered a king with 2 full size foundations and we cancelled delivery. We went into the store to figure out what to do and we wanted to order the right foundation but they couldn't tell us how they stored the mattress in the meantime, so we cancelled the order. We want to reorder but haven't got the refund yet. I had to pay the bill without having the merchandise. They said it can take up to 7 business days for it to be shipped back and refund processed. We bought it 2 months ago and have nothing but we paid for it. Never again. read more

When she finally did come back, with an attitude like she didn't want to be there, i asked her why she didn't help us that were waiting in line. Went to return two items we ordered for Christmas in the jewelry department yesterday. The gold ring I bought arrived scratched out of the box. Then a ring I was really excited about after one day of wearing one of the stones fell out. I went to the center of the department to find no one behind the any of the counters. So I had to hunt down someone and ask are you in the jewelry department? She said yes and acted like I inconvenienced her. Then when I came to give her the items she responded with that item isn't ours. This was before I even showed her the receipt on my phone. She was commenting about how it didn't have a tag on it still. She was extremely rude and almost acted like I was trying to pull a fast one. It didn't have a tag on it because I wasn't planning on returning it! She was saying how she didn't see a scratch on the gold ring I was returning either. Commenting how it must have been a small scratch. Does it matter? Never once did I hear sorry the item was defective and poor quality. What a huge disappointment. She had her manager come over and she explained it was an online order and then refunded my entire order. I just didn't appreciate how I was treated. I usually never shop here and now I know why. I want to like JCPennys but every time I shop there something isn't right. I made a purchase online and paid for upgraded two day shipping. I am now on the fourth day items have not arrived and tracking says estimated arrival tomorrow ( not confirmed, but estimated)! I placed a large order for window coverings. I ordered blinds and one curtain. I measured my windows. I was never given the option of having them come and measure. They gave me a pamphlet and told me to read it on how to measure. She told me that a deduction of 1/4 inch would be taken on each side of the blind and would be done at the factory. The curtain she said she would take off an inch so it could be adjusted when installed. It was a floor to ceiling window. We assumed she knew what she was talking about. Boy were we wrong. She did not take off the inch and the drapes could not be adjusted. We told her that we needed the rod, she never ordered it. So when the installer came out there was no rod to install the curtains. She said we never told her we needed a rod. I guess when we said we have nothing and we need everything it means different things to different people. She didn't order it, they told me that I should have ordered it. I don't even know how i was suposed to know which one to order. One blind was too small, the curtains were too long. We spend a lot of money on these window coverings. Their solution was for us to mail back the curtains and pay to have them fixed. They weigh about 40 pounds. They are in a huge box. The will not fix their mistake. We spoke to a manager, he was no help at all. Worst customer swerve ever. The did remake the smaller window, they made it sound like their were doing me a favor by not charging me for their mistake. It was made incorrectly. It had a plastic cab on the end that made it too big to fit my window. They should have paid for for it. The installer came out, he was here for 2 hours and installed one small window covering. He said they scheduled him too late to install all the blinds. This has been one of the biggest mistakes, I will never shop at JC Pennys again. I went the Ventura store to order blinds and there was one person on the whole floor, she was so overwhelmed. I didn't feel like she would give us the attention we needed to order our window coverings. The sent our one installer and the guy came and said it should have been 2 installers. He had no idea what window covering I had ordered. He said he got off at 4:30. My window of time for him to come was 12-4. He got her about 2. It makes me so sad that people don't do there job and take responsibility for their mistakes. read more

Actually the best place to shop for low prices. My favorite brand there is Arizona jeans, almost always having buy one get on free deals. They also have high end brands like Levi's and Nike for amazing deals. The shoe department lacks in popular shoes but sometimes you get lucky. The service there is also amazing they're all so nice, not a mean person there. Really recommend this place. read more
