This is only the second time I have written a review on Yelp but I strongly believe the public needs to know what happened to me. I have had a credit card with JCPenney since the 1990's. It's not a store I frequent often but I have kept the card for credit reporting purposes. I made a large purchase about 8 months ago. The plan was to pay the card off quickly. Today I check my current balance and learned that my APR is now 39.99%, which is beyond ridiculous. I was never made aware of this giant leap. Upon calling to get a lower rate, I was informed that there is nothing that can be done. This is how they treat long term customers? I have had a stellar relationship with JCPenney and my credit score is in the mid 700's. How is the high APR justified? The answer I kept getting is that I agreed to that APR when I opened my account. If that is indeed true, I would like to have the interest rate from the 90's, PLEASE!! Guess my long-term loyalty is not as important as the ridiculously high APR. Who in their right mind would pay such a high interest rate?! The moral of this story is to check your current credit card statements/rates and don't get a card with JCPenney/Synchrony. My card is already cut up and in the garbage. read more

Came by to look for infant and men's clothing and surprised to see how busy it was! I don't know what I expected but I guess this is the PLACE now for shopping! We need to get more clothes for my infant and they had a lot of cute styles especially for the holiday season. The men's section was lacking, needed to get a white button down dress shirt but there were not a lot of options. I was surprised to see their beauty section, did they used to carry Sephora? The selection wasn't too bad but not a lot of product. read more

I don't usually shop at JCP but my son is a 2XLT and it is hard to find clothes for him that aren't super costly at a mens Big & Tall store. My friends husband is the same size and suggested JCP and Im so glad he did. They have a big selection of mens clothes for all age groups. I was able to get him some Pokémon, Scooby Doo and Spiderman T shirts, under shirts, a nice polo, and some T shirts from Puma, Champion, Shaq O'Neill and Levi's. They also have an excellent Clearance Section yes, I know its May but $10 for 2 Sweatshirt hoodies with pockets for $10 in a 2XLT...YES PLEASE!! Open aisles and quick checkout. I'm so sad! Today I cancelled a favorite shopping place credit card of mine over a $4.54 dispute. It's been coming for a while as I have watched the decline of this store. Today was the last straw. I had paid my bill in full from the previous statement. I asked if there were any extra charges and they said no, that they valued me being a loyal customer. Next thing I get a bill in the mail for a $2.54 charge with a $2.00 late fee???? I paid June 13th, no additional purchases and no statement until this one at the end of July. I called to get it fixed but no luck! They were willing to lose me as a customer instead of trying to work out a solution. I even offered to pay the $2.54 that they said was accrued interest from when I paid. (I paid over the phone, he had that on record). I paid the $4.54 and had my account closed. They asked for my email, but I said you don't need it once this call is over! JC Penney's will no longer be a place I shop. Good bye, I hope you can get your act together. read more

My dad always shopped at JC Penney's for years and I have followed suit with this. Penney's always has great sales throughout the year. This location also has a Sephora makeup store inside of it, so women can get their makeup, jewelry, & clothing all in one outing! Well-stocked store. Saw lots of staff helping customers while I was there, which is good. Clean, organized store. read more

We were at the front of the store and there was only one cashier for the entire store. It is so sad that a store that has been around for many years has lost all sense of customer service. In sharp contrast to the Chandler location (see review below), this location offers more of the Penney's experience we all remember, and it all starts with...answering the phones! I had a situation with an elaborate return (mostly bore out of JCP delivering damaged products to me through the mail, but I'll spare the details), and I called and spoke to manager Jared, who was engaged when I spoke with him, and he understood the whole situation without me having to repeat. He said it was no problem, and he would relay the details to the night manager. You know when you have a customer service situation and you're preparing yourself for the whole thing to go disastrous and to your amazement everything goes smoothly? Well this was one of those rare occasions! The in-store associates knew what to do, and the other manager said they had had the whole situation explained by Jared...in other words...they all followed through on exactly what they said they'd do, and I didn't have to go through any big, additional hassles ;-) This is a much larger JCP than the horrible Chandler location, and they're cleaner to boot, but the icing on the cake is that the employees still seem to care about the service they provide, and the gratitude certainly passes to the customers. All other JCPenney's (the ones hanging on by a mere thread) should take notes from this location - thanks you guys! read more

I moved here from NC and finally found the mall. I love the JCP store at Superstition Springs. Employees are helpful. Clean store. If you're lucky to have Jared check you out, he's a very nice young man. I've been checked out by him several times. I hadn't shopped at JCP for a while but was looking for business casual clothes for a meeting. I asked the cashier if there were any coupons. She said only if you open a JCP account. I looked on line and there was a 20%- NO WAY SHE DIDN'T KNOW THIS! 7 items were over $300. What?!!!! We started taking items off and 2 blouses, a casual skirt and a pair of capris came to $164. Went as walk in to JCP salon at Superstition as my stylist was in family emergency. Set me up with I think Kathryn - just wanted trim, said I liked length I had just fix it up. No....she butchered my hair and because I said I trimmed my bangs a bit she used that as her excuse to keep saying it was uneven. She was a horrible stylist - I finally had to tell her to stop with the scissors - she did not even style it. Dried it but was flat and horrible looking - She destroyed my hair. I was mortified at counter trying to pay and could feel the few stylists behind the counter staring. It was awful. My hair was chopped off, it's awful - right is shorter than left. Appalled!!!! Love that I have this JCP close by. Store is very clean, ample parking & friendly staff. On the main level there is a full service salon which is what brought me in. I found Beth when I moved out here & she is my go to choice (and a master stylist) for cuts & perms. If you book a salon appt. early on Saturday, you can access the store on the upper level & take the elevator down. Optical & online pickup are also located on the lower level. read more

Great employees working at SEPHORA yesterday! (4/3/17) This has got to be the best customer service I've ever received at any Sephora! Both girls working were very friendly, walking around asking people if they needed assistance, cleaning, and just making sure their customers were helped and happy. We spent about $200 combined and we were happy with our purchases. I didn't get the chance to see her name, but one of the employees was kind enough to whip me up some samples for my really dry skin. I've had such terrible experiences with asking for one sample at other locations that I was surprised that she happily offered me several to take home. Thank you! read more

Went to the Sephora. We came back to this one, because my daughter had great service a couple weeks ago from Shenna, I'm hoping I have the name right. We asked for her help today. My daughter was right this girl is great. She asked lots of questions, and makes you feel very comfortable. She helped us pick out products and gave us samples of others. Will definitely be back for more of her help. At check out the other lady was not the friendliest, but Shenna customer service made up for it. I did also get a shirt at the JC Penny's. store was very unorganized. The register area was a mess and took forever to get rang out. read more

Me and my family were shopping for last minute christmas gifts and we were in the women's department across from sephora and found an adult bedbug inside a stack of clothes that were already neatly folded. We reported it to 2 sales workers and the just said they were going to dispose of it. They didn't report it to higher ups and made us leave it with them. read more

They just need to hang up the "GOING OUT OF BUSINESS" sign and be done with it. Looks like the carpet has not been vacuumed in a month, clothes and assorted crap all over the floor. Had the worse customer service offered by Penney's. I've shopped that store for years especially at Christmas and back to school. While Christmas shopping one of the men's pajama bottoms did not get put in my bag. I remember the pair because the clerk commented that it didn't have a tag and she couldn't ring it up. After an uncomfortable stare off she took the item to a computer to look it up and made several comments on the inconvenience, but it was no where to be found when I got home. I called the store to let them know that the item I was charged for was missing. They said the manager would contact me after they reviewed security tape to determine if the item was put in the bag or if they could see it left out. I still needed replace the missing bottoms in the mean time. Being that they were on sale for $7.50 I thought maybe the store might honor the same sale price that was now over but nope. I replaced the missing bottoms at the new price of $12. Still a good deal and I was confident that they'd make it right with the first pair. After 2 weeks the manager never called me back. I tried to call them twice with no answer so today I took my receipts into the store and talked to the manager, Tyler. He went to look at this video came back and said he saw the pajama bottoms being put into the bag. I asked how many he saw because I had purchased 3. He had my receipt in his hand so he should have known this. He just said that he was only concerned with the last item that was bagged and my missing one probably fell out because the bag was pretty full. I asked to see the video he declined me. When it comes down to it, it's not the $7.50 or the pajamas, it's the fact that he cared so little to take care of me, a long time shopper. $7.50 is the price it cost to lose my loyalty. Tyler and Penney's just showed why so many stores are standing dark and vacant. Too many other options to shop to mess with this. #Target. #Khols. #Amazon. After 30 years I'm out! I give two stars only because there were good sales however despite the fact that their merchandise is literally the same items found at Target and Walmart, Penney's regular prices are considerably higher. I would also add that since moving their home department in to their store it has become very crowded and harder to shop. read more

Just shopped at JCP today with my 2 year old grand daughter. Signs are posted throughout the stores masks required due to covid. In addition, there is a limit of 2 on the elevator. There was no problem we wore masks and waited our turn for the elevator. A JCP employee Phyllis crowded us in the elevator and she wasn't in compliance and wearing a mask her own company requires. I told her there is a limit in the elevator which was posted and it wasn't ok that she not wearing a mask. Phyllis refused to exit the elevator and wait her turn so my family got off the elevator and reported it to a manager. Shame on you JCP you need to do more to protect your customers or your customers will go elsewhere to shop. read more

Oh JC Penney, how youve evolved. Love the new look theyve given to this location. Items are easy to find. You wont see many sale signs as theyve switched to "everyday values" pricing. Things here are very decently priced. I personally love the Worthington brand, theyre great work clothes (stylish, yet durable). You can have things shipped to the store from their website, the pickup process is also fairly easy. The staff here is very helpful, and you can almost always find someone to help you in any section. This location doesnt have the bedding and housewares sections, theyre located by Sears in the JCP homestore. read more

This is a great location for starters. I do not think I had ever been in here until a few months ago. It is nicely laid out. With just about any thing you are looking for. The bottom level has a great hair salon, that offers all sorts of Beauty services. Which according to my girlfriend does not happen at a lot of the other locations. They are back to their old ways and we like that. She loves the coupons and it always gives her an excuse to go in and shop some more. They have always carried some pretty good stuff. But, it does seem now more than ever , they really have nice brands and values. Really nice service here and they keep the restrooms clean as well. Which of course is always a plus. read more

My mom and I came to Sephora located inside JCPenny and was completely blown away by the absolutely amazing customer service given to us by Samantha. Not only was she knowledgeable about the products, but she was also nice enough to let me take a picture of her beautiful eye makeup she had worn today. In all my Sephora experiences, this was by far the best one yet. We will definitely return to this store for Samantha whenever we have an itch to buy makeup or skin care. Came here for a newborn photo shoot and couldn't be happier with the turn out. Cait was SO good with our daughter and got her to pose for a surprisingly long time. I absolutely used to love this location but in the last year it's turned into something that looks like a junk store. what's going on? even the one at Tempe Marketplace looks a whole lot better I feel like there's clearance racks everywhere which is fine and no real merchandise you can shop from. I don't see the store staying open very much longer if it's a clearance center they should probably make that known so that you don't waste your time. my daughter used to work in the Sephora and the whole store was a really nice place back then but I am just so disappointed in what it's become now. read more
