Shopped at our local B&BW in Surprise for their candle sale. Realized I didn't buy enough of their Tis the Season seasonal candle. Our store was out! Spending the weekend across town some friends I found myself shopping again for candles. I believe what I thought was a 1 day sale actually ended up being 2. Our friends drove us to this cute shopping center to this location. The employees were just as sweet as at our location. Found the candles I needed. We all did! Even being busy check out went super fast. This was my first candle day. It was such a breeze. Inventory was easy to access and we had no issues getting in and out in a flash. Based off the location of this store, I thought I was going to have a positive shopping experience here. However, I was extremely disappointed. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, they are only allowing 15 customers in the store at one time. When one customer exits the store, then they allow the next customer inside. They were following the COVID-19 restrictions, but failed to realize there other issues that might arise with only allowing 15 people in the store at one time. My issue was the ridiculous line to enter the store. I want to know why the management of this store thinks it is okay to allow a line of 50 or more customers to stand outside in the 100 degree plus Arizona heat. I was in line before the store even opened and I ended up waiting for 50 minutes as the temperature climbed to over 100 degrees! There were no misters, no fans, hardly any shaded areas, and not one Bath & Body Works employee offered the line of customers water! I was shocked that we were not even offered water while waiting to spend money in their store. There were customers in front of me that even left due to the heat. This was extremely unhealthy and someone will eventually pass out due to dehydration if they keep allowing this to go on! Why didn't the manager give out a number so that customers could go sit in their cars with the AC and be notified via text/call, or even have the next number displayed on a large screen or white board outside the store? This whole experience was absolutely ridiculous. I had sweat rolling down my face, arms, and legs while waiting in their line in the Arizona sun. When you get closer to the door to enter the store, there is a Bath & Body Works employee explaining to you that they want you to use their hand sanitizer upon entry to the store, then you are to get a paper shopping bag, and then you can finally shop. It is at this point where the employee reviews their store hours. Turns out, they have a couple days a week where seniors and immunocompromised customers are allowed into the store at 9 AM! Since I fit into one of those categories, I was super annoyed to find out I had been standing in a line for nearly an hour sweating to death with ZERO cooling measures implemented, when I could have just showed up to their special shopping hour for those more at risk! How ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!! Once inside the store, they have a Bath & Body Works employee sanitizing the bottles of hand sanitizer after each person enters the store and uses the sanitizer. Okay, but then are they following people around the store and sanitizing each product that a customer touches? NO! So what is the purpose of sanitizing the bottles of hand sanitizer if customers are just going around and touching stuff in the store? I really don't see the point. Did my major stock up today as I call it on candles, etc. at the Dana Park location...very disappointed. First off, how are you supposed to smell candles with a mask on? so lets just throw the mask wearing democratic crap out the door! Second...since when are dogs allowed in the store? The scene was two adults, a small child and a tiny puppy that the child was holding and playing with. The ladies were so busy looking at all the products, not paying attention to the child or the dog. The child was screaming and running all over the place. Wait it gets better... the clerk was ringing up the ladies and the child is screaming at the clerk "HEY LADY" then she runs behind the counter right up to the register! Noone says anything, certainly not the "parent". Lets just all tolerate you kids that you don't have time to discipline right? So now I'd like to say "thank you" to my lousy casher who rung me up. My total bill was almost $500. Who put everything in one bag never offering me that someone could assist me and help me out to my car with it. I had to make two trips to and from my car. I have issues with rude employees every time I go in here. I understand retail is hard sometimes. I work retail as well. Today I had a particularly unfortunate encounter. I needed to do a return and when I walked in I was greeted so kindly, but when I walked back to the register and was being helped..."helped"...by an associate by the name of Mary, things went sour. I handed her my bag with the products I wanted to return and she asked me if I had the receipt. I simply said no, it was product I had for a while that I picked up at semi annual sale that I just never ended up using. She then shamed me and belittled me by insinuating I was an irresponsible person for not keeping my receipt. We get to the register and she starts taking the product out of the bag and she says to me "you're not going to get much for these". I said, "I know, I'd just rather return them and get what I can instead of them just sitting in my cabinets". She then told me she didn't want to do the return and it was a waste of time because again, I wouldn't get anything for them. "These are gonna be like 60 cents each and not worth returning" in a very snarky tone. Now, I am a BBW employee at another location, and I knew exactly how much I was to get back on them. I kindly asked her to please ring them and see what they rung up as and then I would decide for myself if I wanted to go through with the return. She let out a hugh, annoyed sigh. Turns out, I got just under $24 back on my return, just as I planned for. Of course, she was silent the rest of the transaction because she knew she was wrong, until she handed me my store credit and told me I was welcome to shop in the store. I took my merchandise card and kindly said "no thank you". There was NO REASON for this woman to feel like I was putting her out. BBW has a 100% product guarantee policy and happily takes returns with or without a receipt with no grief given. I should not have had such a difficult time today making my return, and I should not have been made out to feel like an irresponsible person. A huge part of being a BBW employee is making the customer feel welcome, making sure the customer is satisfied with their shopping experience, and giving them a reason to return. I went in today to exchange some candles for a different scent and the lady working told me she couldn't help me. I said I just want to get some different scents and she told me that her stock was too low and could not help me.
