It was an okay experience, not a terrible store. I wasn't going to give 1 star, it wasn't that bad. It's just the employees aren't overly helpful, and inventory isn't that great. My pants size was very hard to find when looking at dress pants, not my favorite issue to have when I'm going shopping. I feel like JCPenney lost sephora for a reason. They aren't investing enough in improving their company. read more

JCPenney - Department Stores Near Me - Frisco, Texas

I popped in really quick since I was at Stonebriar Mall. I hadn't been to a JC Penney in years, possibly decades. I entered in by the ladies clothing and the entire store looked disheveled. Like they were trying to spread out the racks of clothing to fill some spaces. There was one nook that looked like it had clearance shoes and clothing just shoved into the space. I did try on one thing but it didn't work for me. My entire stop was disappointing. It wasn't the JC Penney I remember shopping at years ago, at the long gone Prestonwood Mall. It makes me wonder if they are in the process of closing this store? read more

Depending on which trend piece you're reading this week, America's shopping malls are either dying a gruesome death or experiencing a Gen Z-driven renaissance. Acording to a review of local media reports, online review platforms, and JCPenney's own store locator tool, several locations have closed or are expected to close this year (2026). (In my opinion if there are some JCPenny's stores/or online stores that are still open just know if you buy something from them all sales are final, no returns, exchanges, warrantys, or refunds will be availible to you because of the many closures of the JCPenny stores.) JCPenney is no ordinary store: JCPenney was founded in 1902 and hit its peak in the 1970s with more than 2,000 locations. These days, the brand is not exactly known for growth. At the height of the COVID pandemic in 2020, the J.C. Penney Co. sought Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and immediately announced a plan to close hundreds of stores. It's unclear how many jobs have been lost as a result of these closures. Last year, JCPenney also closed several stores, most of which were located inside malls. The people who work at (the remaining) JC Penney's stores that are still open (in my opinion) should start to look for another job sooner than later since all the JCPenny's stores will be closing down soon so you won't be out of a job. While you are looking for a new job (in my opinion) go to your local unemployment office first and try to get montary relief until you find a new job. Perhaps because the JCPenney brand has loomed so large over the American retail landscape for so long, its shuttered locations and abandoned storefronts can elicit strong emotions among consumers (in my opinion). Here are some of some of the JCPenney's stores that have closed so far: 1006 Ross Park Mall Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15237 (September this year); 1500 Stoneridge Mall Road, Pleasanton, CA 94588; Seminole Towne Center, 10 Towne Center Circle, Sanford, FL 32771; Ford City Mall, 7601 S Cicero Ave., Chicago, IL 60652 (The location was JCPenney's last store in Chicago) ; Rivergate Mall, 1000 Rivergate Pkwy. Ste 3, Goodlettsville, TN 37072; Springfield Town Center, 6699 Springfield Mall, Springfield, VA 22150. There are more closings to come until all JCPenney's stores are closed. Members of local Facebook groups (in my opinion) are now commemorating the death of their neighborhood JCPenney long after the store is gone. Last month, a Reddit user posted an eerie slideshow of an empty JCPenney storefront (in my opinion that Reddit user was trying to do what members of a local Facebook did by showing the so-called eerie slideshow of an empty JCPenney storefront). As of this week, JCPenney's store locator tool showed 641 locations in the United States (in my opinion that is just being modest.) that are closed or are being closed soon. It reported 846 stores to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) at the beginning of 2020, when the company's stock was still publicly traded (in my opinion it is far less than that which has been reported). read more

This review is about JCPenney corporate. The customer service is abysmal. The JCPenney website has a glitch, which sent my order to my old address, even though I made 100% sure the correct address was entered before making the purchase. (It would not allow me to delete the old one, so I added the new one.) When I got notified my package was 200 miles away, I called customer service, but after three calls and wasted time, they refused to replace or refund. I had to put in a dispute on my credit card. They do not care and wouldn't even forward my complaint to their webmaster. read more

Ok JCP! Overall, I feel like this is a slept on department store but has a lot of great things to offer. Jewelry: great pieces from casual to fine Jewelry Sheets: Excellent quality, we ended up getting the 600 thread count for our guests room and they feel amazing! I snagged them for around $30 (on sale) for a Queen size, normally there around $70 Towels: NO Unfortunately , I found out their bath towels are amazing in store and felt like good quality, BUT as soon as you get them home you realize , there are so many pieces of thread that are already unraveling! The quality is just not meant to hold up... mind you this was before using them! When I did try to use the towel a million pieces of fuzz stuck to my body. So for towels buy elsewhere. Women Shoes: were not great quality so I went to DSW. Clothing: I feel like everything has diminished in quality, especially clothes (aka why so much polyester?!) BUT I found some solid pieces (thinks 30s) I would go back for clothes! read more

Maria C. and Judy are simply the best. They provided old school customer service. They even told me how to use JCP coupons available to get better savings. I haven't been to JCP in years. It takes an exceptionally strong effort to achieve a 1 star review. However, JCPenney never ceases to amaze with their lack of customer service and conflict resolution. I placed an online order for 2 different items, 1 of which to pick up in store and 1 that would be delivered. I showed up to pick up my item at the stated time, only to wait in line (3 people ahead of me) over an hour. Then find out while I'm in line (3 and a half hours after my order was placed) that it was canceled because they did not in fact have the item in stock. Then I asked to cancel the other half of my order, and was basically told "you can't cancel anything past 30 minutes from the time you ordered." I responded, well you (JCPenney) canceled my order 3 hours after I placed it. Round and round we go... Long story short, I will NEVER EVER go to JCPenney in my life. I will be getting my money back, and will make my purchases from Amazon instead. JCPenney is absolute trash and have forever lost my business. (Not that I went there often anyways). read more

I am adding 5 stars to get the attention of management. I don't like that the staff was doing a good job, and management has not taken action on this yet. This is my post on google that no one responded to, so I am sharing with yelp. The associates have a great attitude and are doing an amazing job. I don't know that many people that can work indoors, and not breathe at the same time. I was told the AC has been broken there for weeks. It is 100 degrees outside at 9pm. I'm assuming it is still broken during the day when it's 107 degrees, and there is no relief walking indoors to work. There is one standing fan in the corner of the returns/pick up counter. I was on the first floor-it's also broken on the second floor. Heat rises still, right? People were fanning themselves. I was doing the manikin challenge to keep from getting my heart rate up and getting hotter. This is EXTREME heat. Do you want to have staff in a staff shortage? Do you want the staff you have, to continue working for you? They have to be alive to do that. Invest on the front end and keep them alive. This is crazy. Get a sense of urgency with that AC. This is one of most stagnant summers in long time. I bet there is a little sentence in an OSHA workplace clause somewhere that covers many potential risks in this situation. Has anyone reached out to the CEO or someone that is cool enough to help? Literally and figuratively. I will add on 4 stars, when you fix the AC. No one I know, is in a good enough mood when they are hot and can't breathe, to write a good review. Please advise. read more

JCPenney - Two different shoes - Department Stores Near Me - Frisco, Texas

If you get severe abdominal cramps here, it's JC Painey. This is a massive department store in the enormous Stonebriar Centre in Frisco and it gets pretty busy, so if department stores are going out of fashion then this one seems to have the trick to avoiding that fate. Perhaps it is because they have slightly cheaper clothes than most. You can tell they're trying to remain relevant, as Bae always says, because a lot of department stores are losing popularity and business. They have a Sephora makeup store inside and they have better prices than the vast majority of department stores. They are too plain and basic for Barbie and I, but we do like browsing through here cuz you never know what you're going to find. But you can spend the whole day in here because it's enormous. You know what else is enormous? read more

I will NEVER shop at JC Penney again!!! I'm convinced they're selling used mattresses as new. Two months ago I ordered a new mattress and box spring. Simple enough, right? I thought so too! It took almost 4 weeks for them to be delivered. When they arrived, the box spring was damaged on one corner. The plastic bag was broken and it looked like it had been dragged on concrete. Once we tore off the sealed plastic bag, there were visible, black marks all over the bottom of the box spring including 2 dirty hand prints. We requested a replacement which turned out to be worse than the first. Once we removed the mattress from its sealed bag, we realized it too was heavily soiled. When we called customer service, we were told first, that they couldn't be returned because the 48-hour window had passed. Then we were told, we would have to pay over $150 for restocking fee!!! I figured this is how they get dirty mattresses into people's homes--by not allowing you to return the merchandise and/or forcing you to pay some ridiculous restocking fee! We paid the restocking fee to get them out of our house, but those were the last dollars they will ever get from me! I don't care if it was JC Penney's fault or the shipping company's fault for delivering used merchandise when I paid for new ones. What I do know is, it was a horrible experience over the course of 7 weeks that I don't plan on going through again. read more

The reason for my 2 star review is because I'm hoping management reads this and makes sure all of their staff are on the same page!! First of all I love this store! I shop here all the time. They have a great selection and amazing prices plus coupons and discounts every time you shop and use their credit card (which I always do to take advantage of the discounts). Today was the first time this cashier told me there were no discounts/coupons even when using the store card. I asked several times because I was very surprised. I even mentioned I always buy in this store and always get discount for using the store card. She, with an attitude, tells me no, no discounts. I got upset and decided not to buy the $68 worth of clothes. I left the bag and didn't pay. I heard her laughing when I walked out. I go to another register were this super friendly young gentleman was working and I asked him: is there any discounts if I use my store card? He says: of course! 20% I immediately ran and grabbed the same things I had from the racks! I go to him to pay. I asked which online coupon was and he says: oh don't worry I have it on my phone. (Which FYI other employees has done this for me in the past). I paid and with all the discounts plus the clothes reduced prices I paid 40$!! I was happy I didn't pay before and went to another employee. Also I realized she didn't even charged correctly the reduced prices of some of the clothes items... Overall: management please make sure ALL of your employees ARE on the same page and provide the same quality service you guys are known for!! Don't let some bad apples ruin your reputation and make you lose some loyal customers!! read more

After many calls and emails a resolution was finally had. A few weeks I got in touch with the new manager at the store and he asked to come in with the shoes and he would see what they could do so the next day I went in, and he gave me a store credit for the return, and I purchased new shoes and a couple of other items with the credit...paying about a dollar for the difference. On a separate call, the rewards customer service finally was able to link my old rewards card account with the new digital only account they had me create so now everything is in one place. So, altogether JCPenney has vindicated itself, I just wish it didn't take this long. Apparently when I went to the store the first time I should've just asked for the manager, but I still may have had to make a fuss through the corporate office first to get the attention I needed for this somewhat unique situation. In any event, it's all over now so thank you to the manager Ted at the Colerain store and to Linda who rang me up. read more

I placed an order on J.C. Penny.com, changing my email address and delivery address at the time of the transaction. About a week goes by without hearing anything about or receiving my order, I log into my account to check the status and find that not only was the order shipped to and delivered to an old address that I have not lived at for like 12 years, but all status information had gone to the old email address as well. At 7:05 CST on 11/15/2020, I call JCP customer service to explain the situation and ask for assistance. The first agent, Jenny, basically implies that I had somehow entered in the old address information when I placed the order. I point out that if she looks at my account information, she will see that this old address is no where to be found in my account. I ask to speak to someone else. I get a very rude and condescending "supervisor", Rick #2027 , who states well it was YOU who entered the order. I again explain that if he checks my account information he will see that the information in my account DOES NOT MATCH the information used to ship the order or the email address where alerts were sent. I also advise, as most systems do time stamp changes, to actually check when the changes were made. Again, without even bothering to look up anything, by his tone, etc. he insinuates that it is MY FAULT that their system did not apply the updates to my account to my order as entered and that the "computer automatically chose it". I advise that they could follow up with the shipper to make a claim and have them assist, etc. He then says outright that I put in the order so it was my issue/error not theirs. I get escalated to Shree who this time tells me that no account with my email address exists. Everyone else can pull up this account, but this so called "Escalations Expert", can not. I tell her that it does indeed. Talking over me as I'm explaining, she continues to insist that my account with my current email address does not exist and instead confirms an old guest account and an old account with a different email address. I insist that an account with my current email does exist and ask if she can look it up by my phone number. She said she did that but that no account under my current email address exists so maybe I placed it as a guest. I explain that I logged in that morning using my current information and it is showing that order under it. I offer to email them screenshots of everything but am not given an email address. She again insists that my account under my email address does not exist and as I placed the order, I'm basically SOL. I ask to be transferred to someone else who is not her. She says she can't do that. Then she says she can and I go into hold. Hanging up after a while, I call again and get Tamia , the only one who seems to understand the information as presented. She pulls up my current account and sees what I told her is the case. She places me on hold to get advisement from a supervisor. I then get Lanita, ext 217059, a supervisor, who tells me basically that since I placed the order, they're not going to lift a finger to assist - especially because the order is over $100. She then tells me that I should join UPS My Choice and ask them to retrieve the order. I explain the situation again, at which point, she insinuates that I just made those changes to my profile! Does JC Penny not time stamp changes to the account? I advised that I'm going to contact corporate and file a charge back. She replies that she IS part of the corporate team. I reply, great, I will file a complaint with corporate anyway - just to make myself feel better. Long story short, they have my money so they couldn't care less about issues with the customer online ordering experience or shipping. Now, there has been shipping issues with my unit number being left off of packages (yes, vendor again) etc, and typically the shipper will work with the shipping company to try to get it resolved. Not JC Penny. JC Penny's policy is apparently, if you place the order, as their customer, do not expect any kind of assistance from them in resolving issues - even one caused by failings in their online ordering system! Expect condescending, unhelpful and incompetent agents who do not care at all about the customer system, who make snap judgements without actually investigating the issue and in the end do nothing. After more than an hour on the phone with FIVE "customer service agents", I am still out of $130 with my order misdelivered to an address "the computer chose" with ZERO help from JC Penny. Avoid like the plague! read more

So we buy most of my husbands clothes her in the big and tall section. Usually they have a fairly good size selection. The big and tall area was more messy than usual. I did not see any staff in the store until we were checking out. There is only one dressing room in the big and tall area and it is not enough. We had to wait at least a half hour for the dressing room. When my husband tried on a pair of shoes the security device was so tight that he really could not get the laces loose enough to try on the shoes to tell if they really fit. Even if he would have gotten them in there is no way he would have been able to walk correctly to determine if they would function for him. There is too much merchandise in the store. With the amount of people in the store it was impossible to shop. I really don't ever want to shop here again. read more

I drove to the store today to purchase a microscope for my grandson. It was the only Penney store in the area with stock. I walked in, quickly located the item and checked out downstairs. The associate at the register was EXTREMELY friendly and helpful. I completed a survey earlier but it would not allow me to add additional comments beyond the first question. Poor design. Needs correction. I wanted to make sure this woman is recognized. Unfortunately, her name is not on the receipt, only her numeric ID, which was 0163. Miss (or Mrs.) 0163 made my visit, on the weekend before Christmas, a very, very pleasant one. On a hectic, busy shopping day, she definitely put me in the holiday spirit! While I was checking out, another male customer came by, out of his way, to tell her she was doing a "great job!" I hope someone in management at this JC Penney store in Stonebriar Mall reads this and 0163 is commended for her smile, laughter and efficiency. She's a keeper. read more

JCP seems to be the only place that actually has the Levi's we like in stock -- even after checking Levi stores in the area. I love that we're able to get nice jeans at a decent price (usually on sale in some shape or form) and there's a decent selection to choose from. There's not a huge mess of jeans and other articles of clothing thrown about everywhere; it's all fairly tidy. The staff is also friendly, but I can't stand that whenever you enter a section just to browse, the intercom continuously says "customer needs assistances in jeans." No. No, I don't need assistance. I'm just looking. No ever comes to the rescue anyway, but it's just a nuisance to hear it every 5-10mins. read more

I used to work for JCP Plano Collin Creek 2008-2009 and occasionally through out the years growing up I have shopped at this Frisco location. This current shell of the store is completely awful and the entire shopping experience is unsatisfying. When I say this place and company isn't the same, it isn't. The customer service is pathetic and no existent!!! Nobody on the floor speaks to you or asks you "are you are you finding everything okay?" The only time associates speak to you is when they are forced & harassing you at checkout trying to get you to sign up for a JCP credit card so they can pad store stats. The store was not clean, clothes everywhere. You can tell that there's a lack of recovery team and the little staff that's there is overwhelmed and at times just say F it and doesn't even try. There's only one check out stand downstairs. There is no inventory at all, we couldn't find any common sizes for clothes we did like to try on. You can never find the clothes on mannequin that were on display. They should be right next to them but are never available. The fitting rooms are still closed which makes no sense at all!!!!!! read more

My JCP Review: I purchased a recliner from them that came with a 1 year warranty. 6 months after purchasing the recliner, the wooden frame broke which made me really sad because I LOVED this recliner. I looked at what the warranty covered and saw that wood was covered so I called JCP to let them know that my recliner had broken. I was told by customer service that they would get this over to the department that handles repairs and someone would call me within the week to discuss my options. That took almost a month before anyone called me back. They blamed it on COVID but this just happened a couple of months ago so not sure if that's the real reason. They finally called and said that they can't repair my recliner because they would have to cut the fabric to do so. I was told my options were to pay them to come pick it up, pay a restocking fee, and then they would refund me for the purchase price of my recliner once I purchased another recliner from them OR they would give me a 30% credit to keep it as is. I don't understand why they would warranty something they can't fix. I am so glad I didn't spend the money to purchase the extended warranty. I ended up keeping the recliner and paying a third party to come and take it to the dump. The entire experience with JCP regarding how they handled my recliner breaking was very disappointing. I don't plan to buy anything else from them. They lost a "valued" customer. :-( read more

Worst customer service. I don't shop at Penny's but noticed an item as I shopped online. I stopped by the Stonebriar location after work to pick it up. I found the item and happened to find an unexpected second item. I walked around the store, all checkouts on top floor were closed. Signs on the counter directed to online pickup and exchanges/return counter. The area was crowded with customers- 3 lines were formed. I asked an associate who walked by if I could pay for my items in the 2 lines that fed two online pickup, she said yes. 15 minutes later I get to the counter and the lady checking out rudely tells me, "I don't do check outs" points to the sign and says "online pickups only." I explained that I had been told I could checkout here and had been waiting for 15 minutes. She said, "that associate told you wrong. Now you need to move to that line. I have people I need to help." This is all happening as the other guy working in the same "online pickup" is simultaneously checking out walk-in customers. I understand that retail can be stressful, I have worked it. But I would never speak in the tone to any customer the way I was spoken to by this individual. I didn't purchase the items. Word of warning....... JC Penny has terrible customer service pertaining to deliveries for online purchases that never made it to the intended destination. The first customer rep told me I would have to take up the matter with USPS. After demanding to speak with the supervisor ("Tory" in Columbus, Ohio), she proceeded to lecture me as to say we should have been waiting at the mail box for the USPS delivery. JC Penny and their so-called supervisor are clueless..... they should not expect customers who work to be at home to chase down the postman. Especially when Penny's did not advise when the deliveries would occur. I totally understand why Penny's is losing ground. Doing business with this company has been a nightmare. read more

Well, sure is bigger than the one in Abilene. Very nice store in a GREAT mall. Bit, what I wanted is on-line only. Oh well.

This is your basic JCPenney's. Reasonably priced merchandise. I came here for a casual pants and shorts. I am really not sure why there's all the media hate regarding JCPenney. Anytime I've been to this store, the service is decent. It's not Nordstrom Customer Service, but they're not Walmart rude either. Their prices are great - especially in the clearance section. And JCPenney has really cute clothes (believe it or not) in different styles - for work, for going out, and their workout clothes are GREAT! I get compliments on them all the time. Plus I'm really tall - and they sell many clothes (including workout clothes) in TALLS (especially online). I've gotten some nice jewelry from here; from costume jewelry to fancy jewelry. I like their home goods section too; I've gotten really good deals on high thread count sheets and luggage. I hope they stick around - I really like JCPenney! Here's where it went downhill from there: - Nobody called us about the sale (even though they promised), we had to double check with them. - The fridge was NEVER delivered on the day I actually had time to be off work. - We had to call days later to find out that nobody communicated with us that the manufacturer (LG) was out of stock on that one - We made a deal on another fridge and was told it would be delivered by the end of that week but then we were told the day before it was to be delivered that delivery has to be rescheduled to the end of the following week. Moral of this story: You guys are about to get a "lovely" call from me tomorrow morning when I am refreshed and have prepared my notes. Y'all might as well come up off those coins and charge this discount to the game. Y'all are going out of business anyway and I am starting to see one of the reasons why. Y'all f'ed up on this one. P.S. I suggest when I call tomorrow, that y'all get someone on the phone that doesn't cry easy. Smooches! read more
