If you love Mex food and the obesity it BRINGS And you're tired of Fish Fries, Burgers, and WINGS And you're not in the mood for Bombays and BeiJINGS Get yourself a Torta from JC KING'S My girl is in adult movies and she SWINGS I'm worried she'll catch STDs and THINGS She's already had several intense FLINGS But I still love her more than JC KING'S Maybe it's because she treats men like PLAYTHINGS Maybe it's the way she wears out my hamSTRINGS Maybe it's the way she causes junk SPRINGS Or maybe it's the way she eats JC KING'S She pouts and poses while her man SINGS So I'm going to buy her expensive RINGS And do her on the racetrack at Saratoga SPRINGS Then take her for a Torta at JC KING'S WHAT JC King's Tortas are the best in Milwaukee, and some of the best Tortas you will find anywhere in the Great Lakes. They are Juicy and delicious and cheap and utterly enormous. I could not believe how big the small was. Which is the opposite of what my gf said when she first saw me naked. I couldn't even get through a quarter of it. Which is what my gf says when she's getting down with her secret 6 foot 8 boyfriend. Every bite was delicious and combining the Jalapeno with the Chipotle sauce makes it a little more spicy and delicious. In the best way. The girls are really nice to me here as well, and the prices are ridiculously low. Low like me getting with your fiancé. The charro beans are tasty and salty and greasy and delicious exactly the way you wish charro beans would taste. I'm not sure what they are called on the menu. By the way my Tortas was the chilanga but I'm sure they are all just as amazing This is the kind of off the radar Hidden Gem that would act absolutely explode into hipsterdom if people knew how good the stuff is here. Come and get it while these places still exist.

Cubana!
Tony N.

The best torta I've ever had! They specialize on so many tortas with different meats and everything. For my first experience here I was recommended the cubana which is the sand which with ALL THE MEATS! I ordered the big size and was shocked when I seen how huge it was and I couldn't even finish one half. So when you look at the picture just notice how one half took up the whole plate. But the prices are cheap and amazing! They also have a food truck located on 35th and burnham everyday but just a heads up they are cash only food truck but they have a gas station on the corner for ATM if anything! Highly recommend this place if you wanna have the best experience for Tortas!

My butchered Torta.

I had ordered the "Pachuqueña" but it was missing cheese, chorizo, avocado and beans. Only had single sad piece of meat, barely eligible to be called a sandwich. When I called to explain the error, I was told that they couldn't do much and that they would try harder next time. I understand that error happen but this is not a single item missing, most of my torta is nonexistent. A absolute waist of money.

Complimentary rice and chips; we also ordered guacamole and chips

First time here and it was certainly delicious. You order at the counter and then food is brought out to you. Every table gets chips and some beans when you sit down. My husband and I didn't know that so we also got guacamole and chips as a side... very limey but delicious. We each ordered a chico torta; I am so thankful we didn't get the grande tortas because the small ones were definitely big and filling. All of the tortas come with lettuce, tomato, mayo, avocado, red onion, and jalapeños or chipotle sauce.

Instead of just say sorry the lady only start to argue and trying to fighting with me, the tortas are amazing, they remember me at Mexico City but with this experience probably never come back

For Starters-- Literally, For Starters: Chips, come w House Beans. Restaurant & Restroom were Clean. Service was Great. Food was Fast & Delicious. Highly Recommend: Shrimp Cocktail FYI: the 'large' torta is a LARGE Torta.

We went with a party of 6 adults and 4 kids to this little hole on the wall restaurant for lunch. When we got there there weren't enough tables available for us. On of the male customer that was eating, was kind enough to move and give us his table to make enough room for our party. We pretty much ordered everything on the menu. My honey and I, ordered a shrimp cocktail and large Milanesa torta; were we in for a surprise. It was huge....... The food was excellent. The service was excellent. The decor, not so much, but with good food. Who cares.

I like this place. We tried a bunch of different tortas among a few people, along with a taco. Disclaimer: the taco was our favorite thing! That's not a hit on the tortas, but really just shows how promising this little restaurant is. It was a carnitas taco, and the pork was succulent. There was a good bit of fatty bits that weren't chewy or off-putting, but melted in your mouth and tasted amazing. There was a nice crisp on the shredded pork and it was rich and super meaty. A really tremendous little taco, especially for $1.60. Now, the tortas. They're fun! The bread is very soft, but because of that has trouble standing up to all the fillings sometimes. Just a bit of a crust on those lovely rolls would have been ideal. Our favorite torta was the Texana, a mix of steak, pineapple, bacon and mozzarella. (All tortas are also topped with lettuce, tomato, red onion, a smear of refried beans, avocado, mayo and a choice of jalapeno or chipotle sauce.) The steak was cut into large chunks and mixed with lightly caramelized pineapple and thick strips of bacon, all held together by a substantial layer of melted mozz. It kind of formed one meat/cheese/pineapple patty, and that was actually perfect given all the other messy toppings. The pineapple really made this one pop. I'd suggest trying any of their tortas with pineapple. The breaded and fried steak and chicken were both very tasty. They're in various combinations of other meats and cheese, so pick what you think you'd like. Don't do the hot dog unless you really like hot dogs. I though the hot dog was just kind of weird and a distraction from the chicken milanesa. Steak milanesa, chorizo and cheese is also a great combo worth trying. The breaded steak was much more tender than I expected it to be. The chorizo is mild and they use it sparingly, almost more like a seasoning, which was fine by me since it can be greasy. One thing to note is that if you're mayo-adverse, be sure to order them without mayo. I should have, since there were pockets of lots of mayo in places. Also, skip the turkey, for the love of god. It's processed deli style, which I expected, but it's perfectly round and sliced at least 1/4-inch thick. They popped it on the griddled to lose some of the slime which I'll give them credit for... but it's just not good stuff, especially when there's freshly made milanesa! So, while the tortas were pretty good, I'd probably rather go back to try more of their extensive menu. I will most definitely be back for carnitas tacos! Two small notes: Our servers spoke English very well, so no problems there as others have had. You don't get chips and salsa, you get chips and beans. Everyone gets a small cup of frijoles borrachos, a soup-like mixture of pintos and tons of bacon, with the tortilla chips.

Took take out back to work and all said the Milwaukee torta, 7 out of 7 pretty much agreed with me that they are amazing. This is a must try for any foodie. This is my favorite torta in Milwaukee and I can't imagine it getting knocked down.

Chips and bean soup

What a gem this place is! I was in this part of town for work one day and decided to try out JC King's for lunch. I couldn't be happier with my choice. I moved to Milwaukee from Austin last summer, and I have been craving some really good Mexican food since. Let's just say my cravings were satisfied. If I had sat at that table long enough, you probably could have convinced me I was actually in Austin. It was soooo good. I had their signature torta, the name of which I am blanking on, and it was amazing. I got the regular size, as many reviews mentioned how big the grande size is, and I think I made the right choice. I was definitely full with the regular. Before the sandwich came out I was served chips and a small cup of mexican bean soup. This was a first for me, but I loved it. I don't make it to this part of town very often, but when I do, you know where I'll be for lunch.

Authentic and huge tortas. The tortas are real good but stick to the tortas. I wouldn't venture in to the other Mexican selections here.

Big Frank's Weiner Waggin made it's debut today at Food Truck Friday in Cathedral Square. I found…read morethem on Twitter about a week ago, and looked forward to getting a weiner on my first trip to Food Truck Friday. Not only was I not let down, I fell in LOVE with Big Frank's Weiners!! The weiner's are nice thick Usinger Sausages. But, the bun is what makes this weiner Great! Rather than just slicing the bun in half and trying to keep the weiner and all the toppings together while you try to eat. The bun has a hole cut in it, the weiner and toppings are put thru the whole on top and one end is enclosed to keep all of the goodies inside. This food truck is a must try!!! You can bet I will be stalking them on Twitter (@wheresbigfrank) and making them my go to place for a good weiner!!

I had Big Frank's wares at the Urban Island Beach Party put on by Art Milwaukee. The line was LONG, and once I got up to the window to order my dog, I saw why. Lots of tasty choices and toppings to choose from! My smoked sausage was covered in mustard & bbq sauce just the way I like it. Its bun was chewy & the perfect accompaniment. My only complaint was that they didn't give me enough napkins! The sausage was a fat ol' casing of juicy succulent porky-ness. It was so good, I wiggled my toes in the sand at Lakefront State Park as I ate it.

This is always my first go to when I have the itch for something good, cheap and quick (depending on the crowd outside). I tried to think of a time when I was disappointed with my order here, and honestly I can't really recall any particular time. The only thing I can think of is sometimes toward the end hours of their shift, they'll run out of certain meats and ingredients. So I'd suggest getting your order in before the dinner bell goes off. About the food -- it's delicious. The tacos here are absolutely great. They come fully loaded with choice of meat, tomatoes, lettuce and a lime to sprinkle on it (use it -- you won't be let down). My other two favorites are the nachos, which are also heavy hitters with chips, cheese sauce, sour cream, lettuce, jalapenos, tomatoes, choice of meat. The portion size is pretty big and you get a lot for the price you pay. My third option is the burrito, which is pretty standard but is only five bucks and it's again pretty big for what you pay for. So if you're looking for a good place to go with a lot of flavor and not a lot of cash, I'd suggest stopping by this mobile house of goodness!

The…read moremenu has all the Mexican staples with the most expensive item topping out at $7.50 which is the nachos. I decided to order something that I usually never order, the tostada along with one taco. The steak taco was two corn tortillas, steak, onions and cilantro. Steak was plentiful and falling out ok, nothing super special. A taco for me is four bites and three of the four bites had chewy gristle in them which is disappointing and a turn off for me. My tostada was Al Pastor and piled high with pork, beans, lettuce, tomato and a pile of cheese. The shells were super crunchy from the fryer and two to hold up to hefty tostada. The tostada was tasty with all the crunchy and soft textures, clearly the winner over the steak taco. I have been to the restaurant and the West Allis truck, the truck about 15 times and I have never had any gristle in my food. The two trucks have different menus and I think the West Allis truck is better.

Food truck Friday!…read more I have noticed this food cart/truck always seem to be popular, and thought I would give it a try. I got the special today - 2 chicken chimichangas, and they were really good! It came with beans and rice, a little bit of salad and some avocados all in this little container. Really quite a bit of food for $7.75! Only suggestion for improvement was that they only have forks to give out, and you really did need a knife to cut the chimichangas, or just use your hands. Fortunately I brought it back to my place of work where I had all kinds of utensils.

I chose the three chicken tacos with everything minus jalapenos. What I got was a massive amount of food and all for well less than $10. Very fresh, the tortillas tasted like they'd been made that morning and the pico de gallo was nice and zippy, and the avocado slices were cut right from the avocado on top of my tacos. It was a little hard to eat that much food, but I managed to do it. There are some tables and chairs nearby along Mason Street by the river so you don't necessarily have to take lunch back to your desk. There is always a line and that's a good thing. Cash only, as far as I could tell.
