Crabs
Nneka W.

This is one of the better crab spots in the Silver Spring area. They have a large area where you can eat your crabs there or you can take them to go. They also have a menu of other items on the menu, like shrimp platters, hush puppies, fried oysters etc. But I have not tried them. Their crabs are pretty good, it's rare that I will have a bad crab. Naturally crabs can be on the pricey side but this place doesn't take advantage. Their customer service is always great, no complaints there.

Was in the area and saw good reviews for this place. Definitely exceeded our expectations, we've eaten at a lot of seafood boil places before. We got: - Steamed crabs with old bay - Crab sauce which has like ten different ingredients (this is a separate charge but they give you the container to take home as well) - crawfish - Fries - onion rings The Fries came out first and I have to say it was perfectly cooked. Someone knows how to deep fry back there (not dripping oil and perfect crisp. We had to order the onion ring since the fries were done so well. Crabs were tasty. Service was great, our discard container was changed out 3 times.

1/2 dozen, $48. Yikes.

Pricey but the crabs were heavy and good. The fried seafood player and crab cake platter were good too.

Ask the Community - JC Crab House

With the pandemic receding, have they opened up for eat in dining?

Yes, they offer on-site dining.

This place is so confusing. No website? The phone number listed here is not working? We live close by, and would love to support this small biz I feel like I'm jumping through hoops trying to get in contact with them 🤷🏻‍♀️?

I ate from there about a week and half ago. They are open. 13018793888

Do you have to order crabs a day in advance?

Assuming it's not a holiday, you can order crabs on the day you want them.

How much for a dozen mixed steamed crabs please?

You have to call and ask. Market prices change daily and depend on the size you are looking for.

Do you have wine and mixed drinks?

No they don't they only got beer and soda and homemade tea and lemonade

Do you have beer and wine?

They have beer in the cooler.

I was a little worried the food wouldn't be as good because it was so busy, but that wasn't the case at all. We ordered two Combo B (OH SNAP!) and one Combo F (FEELIN' CRABBY). For one of the Combo B, we added an extra 3 lbs of crawfish, 3 lbs of clams, and 2 lbs of Dungeness crab. For each pound of seafood boil, it comes with one corn and two potatoes. The seafood boil was drenched in their ultimate Juicy Special sauce. Their sauce is so good! It's packed with bold flavors and a nice spicy kick (This makes it addicting). You also can't sleep on potatoes and corn! It's soft and sweet which balances out the bold tastes! If you're craving a seafood boil, Juicy Seafood is the place to go! Everything tasted amazing, and it's such a great value. If you're not sure which sauce to choose, just go with the Juicy Special. It's hands down the best! I'll definitely be back for more. Thank you for such a great experience!

The biggest issue across the board was the food--everything tasted bland. There was a noticeable lack of seasoning, and most dishes ended up tasting the same. I started with a Caesar salad, which was unusual with added tomatoes and other vegetables you don't typically see. While it was fine, it lacked flavor. For the main course, all four of us ordered pasta, and again, the same issue--very little taste. No one offered fresh Parmesan, which is something you'd normally expect with a pasta dish. Halfway through my meal, trying to improve the flavor, I asked for some Parmesan. I was genuinely surprised when the server told me it would cost an extra $1. It wasn't about the dollar--it was the principle. Charging extra for something as basic as Parmesan with pasta felt unreasonable. When we raised the concern, the manager confirmed this policy came directly from the owner. My advice: just include it in the price of the dish. Policies like that leave a bad impression and cost you repeat customers. Between the bland food and that moment, the experience turned from disappointing to frustrating. Sadly, this isn't a place we'll be returning to--and it's one we'll be warning others about.

He rushed us to order, made us uncomfortable when we were deciding what to order, and asked us if we wanted the house made bread. I knew the bread was $5 but he made no mention of it. If I was coming to eat there and was asked if I wanted bread and didn't know there was a charge, I would be upset. It was kind of deceiving, and when the bill came out, shoved the handheld device to pay in my face and I couldn't go over the bill. He told me to put my phone here when paying and that was that. The bill was incorrect and I had to get a manager to fix it (the manger was very friendly and took care of everything). I also have an issue when a server asks us how the food is, right when the food gets put down on the table. We hadn't even had a chance to take a bite. Now, why I gave this place a five star. Like I said before, the ambiance was amazing, if we had a different server, I'm sure it would had been great! The food: it' was top notch. Some of the best food in Maryland. I wouldn't had changed anything with the food. Everything was seasoned perfectly, had the right textures, and tasted so good! Would I go back? Absolutely!

The atmosphere was warm and friendly, welcoming and not pretentious, a mix of couples, families, and groups of friends enjoying a night out. The restaurant was bustling, the bar area was nearly full and while we did have a reservation, it appeared not to be absolutely necessary. Service was friendly, prompt, and informative.    I started with one of their craft cocktails and our server recommended a beer for my friend. The drinks were perfectly refreshing and a good start to our evening. When my friend saw they had oysters, this convinced him we had chosen wisely. We selected a mix of their oyster offerings. They arrived chilled and with just the right amount of condiments making for a tantalizing slurp to start our dinner. For starters, we selected the Brussels Sprouts and the Roasted Beet Carpaccio. The Brussels were perhaps some of the best we've had in quite some time, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The goat cheese on the Beet Carpaccio was very good, but for me, the flavor profile wasn't quite there, it needed a little more acidity. For dinner, my friend selected the Shrimp and Grits, and I chose the Argentinian Steak. While quite good, constructive criticism would be that the vinegar in the chimichurri, smothered an otherwise perfectly cooked, flavorful steak and the rosemary overpowered the roasted potatoes. The grits, while delicious, were almost too creamy rich, but otherwise a delicious blend of sausage and shrimp. For dessert, we shared the Key Lime Pie and the Carrot Cake. The cake was very good, but we weren't fans of the hardened frosting top, and we wished the Key Lime Pie had even more tart, lime flavor.   The portions were plentiful, the price point was reasonable, and all plates were wonderfully presented. The friendly neighborhood environment, atmosphere, and service all enhanced our dining experience. Definitely give them a try, we will return and look forward to it.

I was previously disappointed to learn some of the menu options weren't available despite them being listed on the menu. However, the same owners have a new restaurant just a few doors down from their previous spot. This one is more spacious and beautifully decorated. As for the food, I had the legume with oxtail, white rice and sos pwa. The portion was generous and I found the food delicious. My friends ordered other options on the menu which they also found delightful. We had great experiences with their speedy service and kind waitresses. I certainly hope they keep up the consistency! The reason why this is a one star review is because several of us ordered the food and waited two hours without getting the food. At the time we finally canceled our order at the two hour mark, it was because they told us they haven't even started on the food. Read that again. They said that they were very busy and very backed up and it's because we have a very large party. The restaurant was not really full at the time we were there. And I would argue that if your restaurant can't handle a large party, then you should decline that reservation. Furthermore our other friends receive their food at the 45 minute mark. And we watched them eat and finish and leave and we still hadn't received our food yet. So this is a review just for service and not the food quality. The reason why we came here is because some people thought it was a really good restaurant. They had recommended the red snapper, oxtail, vegetable stew (the legumes), with the black rice. And what the other people got, were quite good. They smelled good. They looked good. But I think it is completely unacceptable to have patrons waiting two hours for a meal, when you have said to them that it would take 40-45 minutes. Another thing that was unacceptable is that it took 30 minutes for the group to get drinks, and it took me going to the bar three times to just get some water. And again this was not a full restaurant. I had to on multiple occasions mention a medical reason to get more prompt service because it seemed like they were just going to keep having us wait. And for the group reservation, the restaurant charged our friend $500 for the space. As multiple people did not get their food, I hope this restaurant refunds my friend the $500 because I am not sure what the $500 is paying for exactly. This experience made a difficult day even more difficult. And it was felt by our group, and even random others who we met at the bar. And what made it worse was it felt like it was the norm - like why would you be hurrying us along, we're busy and backed up. This isn't a good look. And we're still in shock by this experience because no other cultural restaurant has ever done something like this. I won't be ordering or coming to this place anytime in the near future.
