My boyfriend and I were in search of a cheap place to near the Kimbell, and I had remembered a friend told me about a hold in the wall Greek place. So we came to jazz cafe knowing it was a divey place. As we walked through the patio it definitely had a garage sale feel. We venture in to find a hodgepodge Decour meets Garage band. The very nice gentlemen gave us the menu. My boyfriend and I were both in shock of the high food prices!! We started with the "sample" of hummus, for $4 you get a tiny dollop of hummus and one whole wheat pita. The hummus was great and the olive oil set it way above the store kind. For my entrée I got the small Greek salad with a side of gyro. Again the salad was premixed and sooooooo delish! The meat was TINY! Maybe four bites worth! Great food horrible quantity! My boyfriend had the gyro, it came Premade ruffle chips. We about licked our plates clean. As we walked back to our car we both agreed we wouldn't be back.

Jazz cafe is a Fort Worth institution. I am so glad that they have remained EXACTLY the same and haven't sold a inch of land to the monster church rapidly expanding on the corner. Stay strong guys :) This place is the same as the first time I came over 10 years ago. The tables are small and the booths are cozy. Saturday and Sunday there is live jazz. The eggs florentine are my favorite in the city. The hollandaise is nice and lemony. The coffee is strong and they refill endlessly. I've had other things for lunch, but I really love the florentine. That's what draws me here on Sundays. I have never had a problem with service. If you come when the place is packed out the door, be rational and expect to wait. HA! I've been when it's slow and the service was on point. I can barely drink half my coffee before they refill it. Eggs hit the table in a flash. Make sure you bring cash because that's all they take! It's not spotless inside. It's quirky. It's full of good people and great food. It's filled with local love.

Always a great, high quality meal at Jazz. Fantastic music on the weekends! BYOB saves you some $. Order samplers of everything-hummus, tabouli, salad-it's all delicious especially the award winning black bean soup. Highly recommend Nick's Jazz Cafe!

I give it 5 stars based on ambiance alone. We had a delicious lunch on a Saturday afternoon listening to live jazz. If you are persnickety about cleanliness, orderliness and speedy service go elsewhere, no one will be happy. Fortunately I do not suffer from persnickety so I was able to bask in the eccentricity and garlic. This is a Ft Worth gem.

We arrived around 7:40 PM, and there were only two people in the lobby. Despite that, the staff appeared annoyed that we even entered the restaurant. The young woman who took our order was extremely rude and had a very negative attitude. While we were standing at the register, she began yelling from the front about feta fries being burnt (which appeared to be for herself). She then walked back to the kitchen loudly ranting and blaming the kitchen staff, saying she "didn't expect it to get so damn busy all of a sudden." Her behavior was unprofessional and uncomfortable for customers to witness. At that point, I honestly considered taking my group and leaving. After placing our order, we noticed the staff packing our food in to-go bags. We politely told the gentleman working that we were planning to eat inside. He responded by saying they close in 30 minutes and that we were not allowed to eat in the building. This was the first time anyone mentioned the dining room closing, and again, there was no signage posted stating this policy. We ordered three meals and one order of feta fries. It was very clear that the three of us were dining together, yet at no point when ordering were we informed that the dining room would be closing at 8 PM and that service would be to-go only after that time. I have eaten inside this location many times around this same hour without issue. Between the rude attitude, yelling, being forced to take our food to go without prior notice, and the complete lack of communication, this was one of the worst experiences I've had at this location. Management seriously needs to address customer service standards and ensure staff communicate policies clearly and professionally.

In California they update everything to be so sterile and uncomfortable. Wish we could have more places like the Greek house where I live. The layout is like a Chipotle or Cava, with tables up front, and a line along the side wall that leads you to the order counter at the back. But, between the '80s era decor 7 wall-to-wall carpeting, it feels like a table service restaurant. So, it's a bit confusing when you walk in, b/c it's not the kind of place where you'd expect to order at the counter. That said, while the interior is in need of an update & table service, the food more than makes up for it! Their gyros are absolutely phenomenal, as is their hummus platter. And, the owner (Azam Sawdagar) & her son (Sonny) are great people. Throw a compliment Mrs. Sawdagar's way and she'll turn into your grandmother & wait on you hand & foot to make sure you have the best experience. No joke, after just one visit, she knew all of my kids' names. And, I have a LOT of kids!
