Greek House is an incredible, family run restaurant, located next to Enchiladas Olé. Full disclosure: It's a bit quirky on the inside. The layout is like a Chipotle or Cava, with tables up front, and a line along the side wall that leads you to the order counter at the back. But, between the '80s era decor 7 wall-to-wall carpeting, it feels like a table service restaurant. So, it's a bit confusing when you walk in, b/c it's not the kind of place where you'd expect to order at the counter. That said, while the interior is in need of an update & table service, the food more than makes up for it! Their gyros are absolutely phenomenal, as is their hummus platter. And, the owner (Azam Sawdagar) & her son (Sonny) are great people. Meats and salads are good, better than average. I had chicken which was well marinated and tasty. What lowers the rating is the fries which are a poor quality, cheap version. We tried Greek House for lunch today, and it was very tasty! We ordered the gyros sandwich and the acropolis. The gyros sandwich had meat, onions, tomatoes, tzatziki sauce. The acropolis has grilled mushrooms, peppers, onions, cheese, lettuce, avocado, and tzatziki sauce. The pita bread was soft and warm. The veggies were fresh! The meat was tender and delicious. It is hard to find a real authentic good quality gyro in Fort Worth but this place is the exception. SO DELICIOUS! The quality of the gyro meat is superb. It also comes with a fresh greek salad and fires. The fries are so yummy and the plate is well worth it meal/ Customer service: The customer service is good. The can take a little while preparing the food but that is just because they value quality. I do recommend ordering ahead of time if you are in a big rush. I had an appointment at a salon near the restaurant so I called my order in and was told that it would be 10 minutes. I arrived to pick up my order and was greeted by a friendly woman who was also the cashier. My order was ready and waiting. I grabbed a bottled water which brought my total to a bit over $13. The friendly woman asked if I'd like ketchup and plastic ware in which I accepted. I made it to my destination and opened my containers of food. I thought the menu mentioned tomatoes and onions on the gyros sandwich but none were found. I took a bite hoping that it wouldn't be too dry but it was dry and salty... I looked for Tzaki sauce and it was with the salad. I'm usually not a fan because I hate cucumbers but thankfully theirs was mild and didn't have cucumbers in it. The fries were hot but also heavily salted with what appeared to be a Cajun seasoning. The salad was standard but appreciated ( of course I picked the cucumbers out). Oh. My. GAWD! This was some of the best Greek food I have EVER tasted! Like, ever....anywhere. I was in Fort Worth on a business trip a few weeks ago, and found myself holed up in my hotel room late one afternoon, STARVING, but not wanting to go out. So I hit up Door Dash and did a little research of all the Greek restaurants in the area. After much deliberation, I decided on taking my chances with Greek House, and I could NOT have been more pleasantly surprised. My food was delivered within less than 30 minutes, and was absolutely and unabashedly mouth watering. Mind you, I was famished...so I went the gamut and ordered a Greek salad with extra feta and kalamata olives, a Gyro sandwich with extra onions and tzatziki, and a side of Dolmades with yet even more tzatziki sauce. Plus, they threw in the most delicious pita bread I have ever tasted in my *life*. I ate every single bite, and I will not apologize for it. I always order their gyro lunch special (gyro, fries, and drink for $10) with extra tzatziki sauce. Well worth the price as it's a huge portion. Sometimes I struggle finishing it, and go back to work full and a little sleepy, but it's worth it every time. Their gyro meat has a good lamb flavor, their fries are hot and crispy every time. The Greek House has been a favorite of mine since it was originally located on University Drive, a building which is now home to Buffalo Bros. For me, this is the best gyro to be had in DFW. Now, in general gyro meat in itself is pretty standard stuff from Greek restaurant to Greek restaurant as I am sure this due to the nature of it (processed beef and lamb), so most restaurants in the state probably get it from the same supplier. But, the Greek House differentiates itself by the large portions it provides. The gyro is usually enough to fill me up and unlike other mom and pop Gyro shops, the Tzatziki Sauce isn't overpowering nor overrepresented in the gyro. So many times I go to other places and the gyro is literally swimming in the stuff. The fries are delicious as well, supported by a nice seasoning which will have you feeling very disappointed in yourself after devouring the entire lot. Other favorites of mine are the souvlaki and the Greek salad. The souvlaki features meat more like kebab, still presented in the delicious gyro bread (which they warm up on the flat top grill before serving). The Greek salad, should you choose the chicken option, will feature a wealth of hearty pieces of grilled chicken mixed in with the traditional Greek salad. ****Disclaimer - this place is a dive. It is definitely the epitome of the greasy spoon operation and I do not mean that in a bad way. In my travels around the world, I find that places like the Greek House, despite theirsurroundings, serve some of the best food to be had. Case and point, when I was in Athens I had a gyro from a street vendor. My family did not dare to try, so I alone was able to experience the glory of a greasy, delicious gyro served right there on the street in The Plaka. What I learned that day is that greasy spoon can be greasy good, and such logic is fitting for the Greek House. The prices on the Yelp menu are inaccurate. Our portion sizes were were not representative of the updated pricing. The pita was store-bought and slightly stiff. The baklava was a 1"x1" square of something that resembled baklava but did not taste like traditional baklava, some kind of almond paste in the middle? The Mousakka was okay, not the best I've had.
