I needed a quick leather repair for a horse bridle. They fixed it in 3 minutes and didn't charge me anything. What a great place!!!!

We noticed that our dining room chairs were becoming squishy when we sat down. Luckily, we looked into it early and discovered that the strapping on the bottom of the chairs was ripping. So, we looked at local vendors to replace the strapping. We were confused by the ratings of Jay's upholstery - the ratings didn't seem to match the text of the reviews. The reviews seemed to all say the work was very good, but the numerical rating was lower than we would have expected, given the text of the reviews.... So..... we got pricing for the 6 chairs and then decided to start off by trying them and having them replace the strapping on ONE chair. We found Gina to be quite good at helping us understand the process. When we got the first chair back, it was a no-brainer - we found the folks who would do all our chairs! All six were completed very much to our satisfaction, with good communication, and at a reasonable price, and exactly when promised! HAPPY CUSTOMERS HERE! After calling yesterday, my wife walked in with a simple inquiry about repairing two chairs and was bluntly told by the owner she was wasting his time. She turned around and left, This could be the only upholstery shop in Denton and I'd gladly do without rather then spend my money here. It'd be zero stars if I could, Why would anyone in business say that to a potential customer? Made more sense to politely decline and just say "I don't think I can help you." read more

My experience aligns with the other reviews I have read here. I don't typically take the time to leave reviews but the staff was so unbelievably ill-mannered and rude that I felt a need to warn my fellow consumers. I cant speak to the quality of work nor would I give them the opportunity as I would never support a company that treats others as they do. Jay's did a great job on my dinning room chairs. Quality work and completed sooner than expected.

I have been on their list for an upholstery job for a couple of months. I went into their store to pick tapestry upholstery fabric. The swatches they had that I liked were not available from the manufacturer because they were so old. So I took pictures. Over the next several days, I did searches and the leg work trying to find something similar. I finally contacted the supplier with the pictures to ask if they had anything even close because I knew those had been discontinued. The supplier checked and in fact they had left over yardage of that still on their shelf. So I had them set it aside for me. Jay's then called me back and accused me of "undermining their business by trying to order directly from the vendor". She told me I could not do that. EXCUSE ME? You are expecting me to buy several hundred dollars of services from you and you are making accusations against me? I did the work of finding it. I did all of the searching. She just called and got the information that it was discontinued. There is NO WAY I would ever use this business. When I went into the store I noticed that the upholstery guy (Jay's son) was verbally abusive to the lady running the front. And he scoffed at my questions. He was clearly annoyed that he had to be around an actual human being. Rude and unprofessional. He may do good work, but he is a miserable man and she is unable to handle customers. So they lost hundreds of dollars of business because they wanted me to order through them so they could get the up charge from me going through them. Again - I DID THE WORK of finding the product I wanted. With so many businesses failing right now, don't piss off your customers. I found someone else the same day (recommended by the fabric vendor) that can get it done sooner and for a better price. Avoid Jay's if you don't want to pay extra and be treated like a second class citizen. read more

As I read previous reviews I had a hard time believing we were talking about the same place. I found them courteous and professional. Their price were reasonable and their work was excellent. I can only assume that some people do not realize that not everything can done on their timeframe. Fabric has be ordered and other customers May be ahead of them read more

I'm only giving two stars because the quality of work was decent. The employees are very rude and condescending. It took us almost 3 months to get our custom cushions made and many emails and phone calls to get them. For the high prices they charge I expected a more professional experience. Save yourself a headache and go elsewhere. read more

Jay's is doing so well they don't even say hello or offer any sort of greeting when you call. Silence is what you get. I thought it was a fluke so I tried another time and sure enough when I said hello and asked if I called a business from the silence this crazy lady comes on and asked why I was calling. I am from Atlanta and was interested in getting a couch and love seat umpolstered in Denton. My daughter got married on June 4th in Atlanta and she wanted them done before they moved in. I contacted Audie in March about the project and told him I would be visiting on April 18 th and would bring the fabric. I brought it to the shop and they came after the love seat the same day. I was again going to visit a month later and when I called around May 1st they had not started on it but said they would have the week on May 10th and they did and picked up the couch. I told them that my daughter and son in law would be in Atlanta from the last week of May until the second week in June for the wedding and honeymoon. They began calling me the day after Memorial Day informing me the couch was done and they needed to get it out of the shop because they had no room for it.....they called daily ! I finally talked to them on June 3rd and reminded them that the couple was getting married and would be on their honeymoon until the June 13th. The man was rude and told me it was "in the way" .... I got another call yesterday....I called back today to speak with the rudest woman in Denton. I again explained the situation and told them when they would return. She then blurted out " how long are they going to wait...a month?"....I then ask if she had listened to anything I just told her. My advice....if you can stand their rudeness they do good work. I would say they excel in Customer Rude-Service ! read more
