I was in Dallas for the Indians game on Friday July 20th. So, I figured since ASM wasn't far from my hotel that I would hire a Lyft and go visit the shop, since I am a big fan of Fast N Loud and Misfits Garage. So, I get there and take pictures outside and go inside. I was greeted by a very nice man after he finished his phone call. Until then I was able to look at the pictures around the lobby of Sue and Richard along with some other things. I told the Gentelmen that I would like to buy a shirt if they had any. He told me they were out of a bunch of them, and they were waiting on a shipment. I told him I would take whatever they had in a XL or 2 XL. He told me he didn't think they had anymore of the "Why you always bring me junk" shirts, he thought they were all smalls, but he would look and see what else they have. Low and behold there was a 2 XL sitting on top waiting for me. It was the last one they had. I asked if Sue was there so I could say Hi really quick because I know she is busy. He said she is on vacation. So, he gave me a tour of the shop where She got her start and talked about Sue's history. He showed me the back of the shop as well. I want to say thank you very much! Everyone at ASM was very nice, I then walked down to Fired Up and took a Lyft to Gas Monkey. Richard was outside taking pictures. I was able to get a picture with him and my "Why You Always Bring Me Junk" shirt. I had a great day in Dallas and my Indians won that night to. As, I was told Go Rangers as I left Sue's shop. I brought my 1976 MG Midget to ASM Auto Upholstery along with a carpet kit manufactured by a reputable company in England. Karen, the daughter of the owner, gave me all kinds of warnings about what could go wrong with the carpet installation. She said they may break the seat bolts. The carpet kit may be cut wrong by the factory. They may have lots of trouble removing the original carpet adhesive and backing. She couldn't give me a firm estimate and would charge labor for however many hours it took. After I asked for a rough estimate, the top of her range was $1800. She charged $2100 dollars for 14 hours labor. I would have no issue with all of this if the end result was good. See my photos of the area behind the driver seat, which, luckily, is not usually visible. It's as if the installer was rushing toward the end of the installation and thought about how this area was not visible. Karen's explanation was that the carpet was inferior and that the threads can be pulled out with a tweezer. I'm not buying this. It's apparent that the installer had to pull the new carpet loose after gluing it incorrectly. Either the threads pulled through the back of the carpet or the installer just pulled the threads loose in an attempt to loosen the carpet to reposition it. There is a bunched area at the top because the carpet is still not positioned correctly. An adjacent piece of carpet that covers the transmission tunnel is installed crooked and in a way that it overlaps the piece behind the driver seat. I can't figure out why the factory cut this panel in such a way, but the way it's installed is wrong and appears to be an attempt to cover more damage to the piece behind the driver seat. After paying and driving the car home, I brought these issues to Karen's attention via email. She called me right away and said the carpet material is cheap and that some of the pieces were either too big or too small. The factory in England says on their website that the pieces are laser cut and will always fit, which may not be true. It was apparent from the beginning that Karen's initial warnings were given to ensure the validity of her "I told you so" explanations. I do understand that, with a carpet kit, they have only one chance to get it right since there is no extra carpet. If they were acting in a way to maintain their reputation, the installer would have stopped working after damaging the carpet. I would have been informed and provided with options. I could have ordered a replacement piece of carpet for a do-over. I would have paid for the additional labor. At this later time, however, the seats would have to be removed again and I'm not sure that adjacent pieces of carpet wouldn't be damaged during a do-over. Ultimately, it seems that they accept an inferior result as long as they can blame someone else - the carpet manufacturer or me, for bringing in a carpet kit. They aren't really interested in doing as good a job as they can. By stopping work to evaluate the bad result, they could have provided me with options. read more

Very deceptive people that have no honest bone in their body. I thought the owners daughter was good until she claimed that the case was closed after damaging my car and agreeing to work with me on refund. Not worth it if you care about your car. They will make it look nice from far but will destroy the panels and the electronics of the car. Very careless and unprofessional. I reached out to this company for a quote to have some upholstery work done in my truck. They responded to my voicemail quickly asking for some photos for reference and now I have not heard back from them in over a week. Even after my sending a follow up text asking for further details. This company works with Gas Monkey Garage and is how I found out about them. Apparently if you don't have thousands of dollars to spend they won't even be interested. read more

Edit: at approximately 8:40 AM on Sunday, December 12 John the manager called me after reading this review and began yelling and screaming at me on the phone. This is in response to the review that I wrote before and it is below and 100% truthful. He also threatened me and told me his physical address to come and see him: Took my Cadillac here on November 11th to get an estimate on getting the fabric roof replaced. Manager said to leave it overnight to evaluate so I did. Next day he calls with a quote to reseal the roof fabric which I agreed to. He then called back later and says that they really would not feel comfortable resealing the roof fabric and would like to replace it but that he's backed up and I needed to come get the car and that he would call me back after getting estimates. It's been almost a month and I haven't heard from them and it basically was just him making an excuse because they really had no interest in providing me with any service. I guess if you don't look like a millionaire or play professional football for the Dallas Cowboys or have something that they believe is interesting they'll treat you the way I've been treated (which was not very good in my opinion). I would recommend to everyone to instead go somewhere else based upon this experience since they appear to be too busy and we the customer are too unimportant to merit their attention. The only thing I can say is that they were polite but they had absolutely no interest in helping me based upon the runaround that I was given. Not completely satisfied with the work here. After installing my black seat covers, they actually used black rattle-can spray paint to touch up the seat frames and the over-spray got all over the black seat covers. You would think the seat frames would be painted before the seat covers go on, and this overspray is just one example of them moving to fast to get onto the next job. I would be ok with 2x the price if they did a fantastic job but will no longer pay a premium after my last experience. read more

This place is Ah-Mazing!!! I went from cloth seats to leather. Super fast turn around (less than one full day) and very high quality work!! They are even did the door inserts and middle arm rest. Gorgeous end result!! I'm beyond satisfied with my experience!! (The backseat looks a little fruity, but that's because I locked my keys in the car and it's broken a little. It has nothing to do with the quality of work at ASM. Once I get it fixed I will change out the pic). read more

Think twice before going to ASM and be ready for John (married to owner's daughter who is mostly an absent owner from the daily going-ons of the business} to be nice to you but ignores your requests and does not check to see if the quality of work meets expectations. My door panel leather work looked very nice but my panel clips were broken and speaker clips were missing and broken. The panel was installed broken with a loose fit and my door ended up with a bunch of rattles. Called John and he said bring it back and we will take care of it. Took it back and asked to speak to John but the nice book keeper looked at my door at my request and John was not interested and left on an errand while I was talking to office manager. This was on a Thursday and as soon as they could work on it again was bring it back next Monday. I felt my car was an inconvenience to them and they wanted to start/finish bigger projects that came in while my car was there. I took my car to GM and asked them to remove my door panel and show me what keeps my panel from proper fit and rattles so much. GM thought the leather work on door panel was nice but the panel got missed handled some how. GM stated they could fix my panel and speaker placement and I said do it not having confidence that my door panel would be properly repaired due to speaker being messed up. If just the door panel needed repaired I would have taken it back. Something they cannot help...their location "sucks big" although the building/shop is average plus. read more

After reading the reviews, I decided to get a quote from them to repair/replace the headliner in my SUV. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with the quote. The issue was that I was told they could not replace the headliner with one piece. It would have to be two pieces connected down the middle (front to back). It didn't sound right and seemed like he wanted to charge a premium if I wanted a one piece replacement. Decided to go elsewhere down the road. Got a better price for a one piece replacement. read more

The vinyl door panels on my 2008 Ford Mustang were starting to fall off. I went to ASM hoping that they could make them look new again. They successfully glued the vinyl back to the doors, but they had to use silicon to seal all the edges. It's obvious a repair was done, and it does not look like brand new. I returned to the shop the next day and expressed my grievances, but Sue explained that due to the vinyl shrinking over time, the silicon seal had to be used or else the vinyl would start to fall off once again. I understand this, but I wish Sue would have told me what the finished product would look like before I accepted the quote. There was definitely a difference in my expectations and what was done. In the end, I think the door panels look better before than they did after the work was done. I spent $270 to make my doors look worse. read more

My wife had the side panels redone very satisfied with the entire process. Had to return to have the rear view mirror switch fixed was taken care of by John (I believe one of the managers) work completed very quickly happy with the speed and professional way it was handled. Would absolutely us them again and would highly recommend them should you need any upholstery done. read more

The workmanship is top-notch, but the customer service was the absolute worst I have ever experienced. When I picked-up my seats, I questioned whether the leather, which was "natural hide", could be better matched (there were two pieces right next to each other that we significantly different colors). Jon explained to me that if I wanted them to fix it, they would charge me extra. Over the course of the ensuing discussion, Jon became extremely angry and actually THREATENED me physically using a long list of expletives. When I responded that I didn't appreciate him speaking to me that way and that I was just trying to find a solution, he literally kicked me out of their shop. I subsequently discussed the situation with the owner, Karen, and, incredibly, she disavowed responsibility and told me that Jon's actions didn't have anything to do with her. Talk about knowing NOTHING about how to run a business! When the manager of your shop acting as the owner's agent threatens a customer, it has EVERYTHING to do with you, the owner. You don't disavow responsibility--you apologize profusely and you make it right. Or else this happens... read more

WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stay away from these people as they are butchers! I had them put a top on my XJR and they gave it back to me with the top not working and every excuse in the world why it didn't. They somehow messed up the top program and when I spent $200.00 to have it done it started working again. They also gave it back to me with wrinkles that they said would come out in two weeks, I called today after almost two months and all I got was a attitude from the rudest office manage I have ever talked to. She should be working in a bar, not a place where they repair Jaguars. Absolute AWFUL people!!!
