Stay away if you care about your health and that of your family's, go to McKenzie Willamette…read moreinstead! I cannot begin to document the trouble I have had with this hospital. I was given a drug for an illness I never had and my heart stopped keeping me there for 20 days. This happened in 2009. This month I had chest pain and the doctor could "tell by looking" I didn't have a heart attack and chose not to order any tests only to lie and say I refused them. Not to mention you will wait for hours and they may or may not help you. If you escape alive the bill will be off the charts. MW has a 3o minute wait period and better beds.

I would like to especially point out the Cardiac Care Unit who provided my care for 7 days after my bypass. They were all fantastic making sure I was well cared for. To them it is a job they do very well. To me they were a lifeline making my recovery bearable. Between the surgeons and nurses at McKenzie Heart Group and the nurses and doctors in the Cardiac Care Unit it is no wonder they are one of the top heart groups in the United States and only one of three in Oregon to be rated a 3 star group which is the highest rating. You will be in good hands if you let them take care of you.

The hospital is in a nice location and we appreciated having sunlight and views. But the hospital is bad with communicating with each other and with us family members, bad with paperwork and legal bureaucracy, bad with computers. I watched my brother writhing in pain for 45 minutes while a nurse couldn't get the computer to allow the next dose of pain meds to come through. Eventually a pharmacy worker came up and they stood around the computer going, "Huh! That's interesting. Never seen that before." I had to file my power of attorney documents multiple times. "Maybe you should file it again with us in person," one guy said. I had already filed it, in person, at their front desk, and even had the receipt for it. The real hands-on medical staff was focused on my brother's basic health needs to some degree, and I am thankful for the medical professionals who saved his life. The hospital SYSTEM only cared about getting my brother out of his hospital bed as soon as possible, into some other kind of care facility, even though he'd caught a new bacterial infection while in their hospital.

I have…read morehad to go to the hospital 3 times for emergency and the wait was less than 1/2 hour in all 3 cases. I was taken care of and the problem I had was taken care of by the doctors and nurses. The last few months I was at the hospital due to blocked arteries which caused me to have a triple bypass, heart shocked twice, an ablation, and finally a pacemaker implanted. After my bypass I ended up in the Cardiac Care Unit where I was taken care of by the most professional caring doctors and nurses. It was like my comfort and recovery were the most important task they had. It is no wonder that they and the doctors and nurses at the McKenzie Heart Group are a level 3 star for patient care and outcomes. My understanding is that is the highest level attainable and there are only 3 in all of Oregon. Two in Portland and one at McKenzie-Willamette hospital with the McKenzie Heart group. You couldn't do any better than them for your heart care especially if you need bypass surgery.
I just really, really want to thank this hospital, for the amazing care I was given!! Before I go…read moreany further I would like to state first and foremost that I am a Latina / Chicana and it is very obvious that im brown. When i see people throwing the race card around i did not have any experience from the staff here i was here from Thursday 9/24 until 9/28, 2026 i felt absolutely cared for and respected!! Trust me i personally know what racism looks and feels like and i didnt have any of that the entire time i was there!! All the nurses and aides, respiratory therapists Robert & D dont wanna get his name wrong but he'll know it's him cuz I told him n I would call him that!! They were excellent at their jobs and I got my breathing g treatments every 4 hours!! Christine on Thursday was absolutely amazing and very sweet. Christine was one of the first people I met when I was rolled up to the 3rd floor. She was amazing before her shift was over clearly explained everything to me. How they were gonna make sure to help me get my breathing on track and I would be there all weekend!! I appreciated that because honestly I thought i was going to die!! To the all the people who helped me i cant thank you enough for your genuine caring and compassion. I feel grateful and want you all to know that u helped save my life!! With all the blood draws, and constant care I see how hard u all work and how busy u all are!! I especially want to thank the lady whose favorite color is orange of any shade!! I forgot her name but she was such a beautiful warm and friendly nurse. She had went to Greece with her husband for their 30 year anniversary. What a great lady .!! Amazing. So as u can tell i was in contact with a diverse group of caregivers and was well tooken care of. So was the lady I shared a room with . Anyway the weekend day I think NP was also amazing . She was great. For 4 days of great care I am breathing better and alive to talk about it!! THANK U ALL SO MUCH!!! Really quick like this isnt the only experience I've had here this is my go to hospital because it beats the alternative!! So please dont assume oh I've been here one time and dont know what im talking about. One more thing as we all know Dr's aren't passing out opiates and those type of pain pills like they used to, it is just the way it is these days. I am not implying that every one is drug seeking by any means but we all know they are out there. Laws have changed and no doctor wants to lose his career or license by passing out opiates like candy!! Times have changed . Rules and laws have to be followed!! Say what u want im just stating the facts!! Anyway I hope get the same great care I have experienced!! WRITTEN BY ABBY YOUNG,

He said we can do a lessor strength. He wanted me on a statin, which was expected. I told him I tried a statin before and experience muscle pain. Again he mentioned a lower dose. I agreed to trying a lower dose. I left feeling satisfied that my concerns were addressed. By the time I got home the pharmacy had my prescriptions ready. After standing in line for 20 mins it was my turn. Two prescriptions, no cost. All positive energy hmming along. I get home and open the pharmacy bag and retrieve my two prescriptions. They were both the exact same prescriptions, same strength I had previously! i send him a message expressing my disappointment. I had also brought with me to the appointment two months of daily bp readings that he never looked at. In his reply, he defended the prescriptions he wrote and acted like his opinion shouldn't be challenged. Shortly after that I found a new doctor. A young female who listened to me.
I've seen multiple providers at Springfield Family Physicians and have always had excellent…read moreexperiences. Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Jason Keister was the complete opposite. During my appointment on August 16, 2024, he told me that I had a "small heart attack," but that it was "very small" and not to worry. He then sent a cardiology referral based on that statement. Later, when I reviewed my medical chart, I found three question marks (???) next to my diagnosis with no explanation. When I requested a correction to my record and asked him to clarify what he meant, he suddenly changed the story. He denied ever mentioning a heart attack and replaced the question marks with "TIA," which has nothing to do with cardiology or the reason for the referral. This did not reflect what was actually communicated to me and only created more confusion. I've had nothing but great experiences with other doctors in this clinic, so this was shocking and disappointing. In my personal experience, Dr. Keister was careless, contradictory, and dismissive, and I would not recommend him to anyone who needs clear communication or accurate documentation. I hope this review helps others make informed decisions about their care.

He tells a lot of long-winded stories & anecdotes. One must concentrate, be assertive to interrupt for questions, & be willing to follow him along the journey. LOL However, he is the only individual in Eugene to treat my frozen shoulder from an "outside-the-box" way of thinking, & quite bluntly, I believe the man to be a bit of a genius. I had struggled with frozen shoulder since March 2020. I didn't meet Dr. Etges until November later that year, so I struggled in EXTREME pain for 9 months! A visit to Slocum was defeating--detached attitude from dr., "told that it will eventually go away in 2 years, "and given a steroid shot which didn't help at all. Dr. Etges gave me 2 prolotherapy cocktail shots a month apart (a special mix which he can explain), and made suggestions to my PT for specific stretches. One month later, I had regained 90% of my shoulder movement and now Feb, 2021, I am at full recovery. A friend who is doing PT alone for frozen shoulder is still in a great amount of pain. I am convinced that Dr. Etges' prolotherapy cocktails sped up my recovery in a remarkable way. It is still very important to do PT, but if you suffer from frozen shoulder, it is worth exploring his specific kind of prolotherapy mix.

He has dropped off prescriptions for me, been proactive with insurance issues and worked diligently to find me other providers, such as physical therapy, who are equally good. Concierge care may require new thinking at first. Paying a subscription rate on top of insurance can seem prohibitive, but when given the level of care and contact, it's actually quite a bargain. Dr. Gilchrist has seen me several times a month, as well as offered referrals, text consults and encouragement, all within my monthly cost.
