What really sets this place apart from everyone else in the area, and I mean EVERYONE, is the absolute quality of their ingredients. Often times I feel guilty ordering a salad out, because I can make one at home, but this one, you just can't buy the quality of ingredients they use. I've never seen more perfect lettuce in my life. I could eat all the blue cheese they have in the building. So amazing. I can't wait to explore the rest of the menu. Pro tip- I know it adds calories, but an extra dressing is pretty clutch in my book.

Freshii is a casual restaurant chain that serves salads, bowls, wraps, soups, smoothies, snacks,…read moreand beverages. The foods look to be healthier than what most other restaurants serve and often contain at most several hundred calories. The highest prices that I saw were $15 for a bowl. I visited this particular location in Cranberry Township to purchase a smoothie. The restaurant had several tables with chairs. An employee promptly and kindly greeted me, took my order and payment for several dollars, correctly made my smoothie, and thanked me. My husband loves smoothies but had no interest in the smoothies from Freshii. Freshii has only five flavors of smoothies, and they contain ingredients such as yogurt, almond milk, and coconut milk. I drank my smoothie at home. It was not my favorite but did taste good.

Most bowls are rice, greens, and/or beans based with various vegetables for toppings. Heartier than a salad but healthier than Chipotle. I've gotten lunch there a few times and have always been satisfied. My favorite bowl is El Jefe, which comes with rice, kale, black beans, corn, red onion, avocado, and a protein topping (I like the miso tofu but you can also get chicken). The bowl also comes with cilantro/lime sauce, which I do not get because it's very salty. That's my one complaint about Roots - despite their healthy ingredients, their bowls can get quite saucy and salty if you go with the default options. This particular location is well-staffed, so service is usually quick, but it can get a rush of students around 12pm.
