Great job on the straps and bust.
Rolanda S.

I found Javonica on Yelp when looking for someone to alter my wedding dress. All the other shops seemed to nickel-dime you the time of the alterations but Javonica was very reasonable and very patient. I did a total of 3 fittings. I couldn't believe how long each fitting took (2 hours!) but I assume that's just because I had never been through the process before. She gently gave me her opinions without forcing me into a decision, so it was a good collaboration. FYI her workspace lighting could be brighter, so I would try to schedule the fittings during the day when you have the natural light as well. But it was generally okay so as long as you keep that in mind. Thank you Javonica, I hope we can work together again soon!

Before, after, & final details!

I barely had a month til my wedding and was rushing trying to find the perfect person to alter my dress. My dress had so much detail and the way I wanted it as well I knew would need more than a month to fit it to my liking. I found Javonica and she did such a beautiful job putting my dress into the dress dress I wanted for my special day! I didn't even have a veil yet and she had the most perfect one that matched my wedding dress! I wouldn't have had such a beautiful wedding dress if it wasn't for her! I recommend her 100%! Great advice and wonderful skills in what she does! Thank you so much! Pictures show before the fitting after the fittings and the final product on my wedding day! Please don't mind my faces lol

I originally got my dress from David's bridal and when I got in it was 1000x too big for me. When Javonica got done it not only looked beautiful but it fit perfectly. She not only altered it perfectly but she also added an absolutely stunning belt to it. I would recommend her a million times over!!

Alterations to wedding dress came out perfect!

Javonica altered my wedding dress that I had bought at David's Bridal and did a fabulous job! It fit me wonderfully and people thought it was specially custom made for me. The bust area was large when I first got it and she altered it to make it fit perfectly for a reasonable price. I would definitely go to again and again in the future.

My original wedding dress

Javonica in a few short words: professional, detail-oriented, kind, driven, and meticulous. At the core of her work is her sincere desire to make you feel and look beautiful in your dress. I went to Javonica for some pretty serious alterations on my wedding dress. After having gone to 3 other alterations boutiques, Javonica was the only one not afraid to take on the project. I'm beyond grateful for having found her because she truly created the wedding dress of my dreams. During the process, she made suggestions that added to the look I was going for. Javonica also created a custom dress for my flower girl, and took care of the alterations for my bridesmaids. I would tell anyone who asked not to even bother looking elsewhere, Javonica is your lady, hands down.

Javonica Chicago was a recommendation from a friend. When I spoke to her on the phone I had a good feeling about her. I met her soon thereafter, of course after checking her website, and I was blown away by her talent, professionalism and passion. I enjoyed the experience of working with her to design my one of a kind haute couture wedding gown. The process was fascinating. I even changed the design and her temperament was fabulous. She is hardworking, dedicated to her craft and a true visionary. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a personalized dressmaking experience. P.S. I also had her make my daughter's flower girl dress. I think it was just as pretty if not prettier than mine. Love Javonica Chicago!

It was both too much fabric, and weird pulling on the center seam. The dress fit perfectly afterward and they completed it within a week, earlier than the pickup date I had asked for. The main issue for me was the organization during pickup. I received a text saying my dress was ready, but when I arrived they brought out a completely different piece of clothing even after I clearly described my dress. Turns out they had mixed up the name tags between my dress and someone else's. I ended up going to the back with them and immediately spotted my dress myself. I pointed it out and they asked if I was sure it was mine, which was a little strange. Then they asked me to try it on. At first I thought they just wanted to confirm the alterations looked right, but it turned out they wanted to see if it fit me to determine whether it was actually my dress. Thankfully it fit like a glove. Even after that, they still seemed unsure so I showed Yelp messages I had previously sent with photos of the dress, along with my receipt and even how much I paid. I usually throw receipts away, so thank goodness I still had it. After confirming in multiple different ways, they finally let me take my dress home. Another woman was also there picking up clothing after receiving a text notification and they were struggling to locate her item too, so it didn't seem like an isolated issue. Overall, I think the tailoring work itself is solid, but the shop felt pretty disorganized. The guy working there did apologize before I left, which I appreciated, but the whole process of having to repeatedly prove the dress was mine was definitely frustrating.

I took in two pair of jeans (one brand-new, one vintage) for alteration. The new pair just needed to be hemmed. I specified ORIGINAL HEM. They weren't embellished and didn't have difficult seams or finishes and they charged me $75 to hem and the original hem wasn't applied. I called them twice while I was waiting for them to be done (I wanted to remind them, because it was prom season and they were busy). the woman on the phone said "We always do original hem" but I didn't get original hem back and now the jeans look cheaply made (the hem is also crooked). The other pair is a vintage pair of Calvin Klein jeans that I bough a size too large so they could be tailored to my body. They charged me $100 for those, which also seemed steep but I paid it. When I went to pick them up, it's like no one had actually touched the jeans. I tried them on again for them to correct it and was specific when the attendant was pinning them. I still don't think they were done, because now it looks like I have saddlebags because they were never taken in on the hips where I showed. I have now paid almost $200 for two pair of jeans to be altered that weren't what asked for; getting it fixed at another tailor will mean even more money spent. I will continue my search in Chicago for someone who can make basic alterations to clothing. Not removing/adjusting seams or dealing with challenging fabric-just 100% cotton fabric. with basic hem or just taking inches in along the side seams. Basic tailoring shouldn't cost so much or be this hard.
