Meticulously well kept, the small shop flirted faint scents of classic men's cologne and vintage leather. Even the other customers that walked in were older Black gentleman dressed casket sharp. This is a classy joint. I could instantly feel the pride of craftsmanship and love for the community in here. I was greeted warmly, and the younger of the two gentlemen behind the desk stepped up to help me. I wanted to get my Sherrick McManis Bears jersey tailored. So, I've been working out a little bit, and I'm a little vain- so what?- so I asked could they shorten the sleeves a bit to let these guns blaze in all their melaninated glory. The brother kept it a buck with me and said I would ruin the stripes on the sleeve. I could sense his advice was coming from a deeper place than just his expertise of tailoring--because he asked if I knew McManis personally. I do. But HE knew all about his career--even the high school Sherrick went to. He was a true Bears fan. He couldn't fathom defacing his beloved team's jersey. I took the advice. He could have done it anyway and made a quick sale, but he was above that. So needless to say, I'll definitely be back for my other trailoring needs.

However, I am highly disappointed in the service rendered. I needed a zipper fix. From what I assumed was a simple fix. The employee, an older guy with a salt and pepper beard, with a non-hospitable tone, decided to tell me that it wasn't and he don't know why I would think that. Thrown off by just meeting him. I stated that I am not a seamstress and this is why I brought it to him, lol! He told me that it would be $25 to fix and to pick it up Thursday of the following week. Although that price seemed a bit steep, I obliged, because again, I am not a seamstress! I left out, receipt in my hand, side-eyeing what I just experienced. I returned that Friday, the day after my pants should have been altered. I was greeted by that same guy. As he was helping other customers, he yelled out to me as I walked in. NO hello, may I help you, give me a second...nothing. "Could you give me 20 more minutes? he called out. I didn't know that he was talking to me, so I pointed to myself and said, "Who me?" He said, "Yes, I didn't know when your pants were due, I didn't write a date on there. You can take your pants and get a refund." Geesh, I thought, what is this guy's problem! I glanced at my watched and noticed I couldn't accommodate his request due to having to pick up my son. So, I told him that I would come back. (I should have just taken my item and left). I returned the next day, rung the bell, and walked in. I was greeted with a strong manly voice from the back of the shop. "Last name." He comes the side-eye again, because what kind of customer service is this? I told him my last name. He walked out, same guy, put my pants on the counter, walked away, without a word.
