This is extremely bland food. Mexican food should be full of spice and flavor! This is comparable to Beto's (which I also don't like) except it's way more expensive! One of my enchiladas from the Enchiladas Texanas didn't even have anything in it. Like it was an empty tortilla shell. The refried beans are canned and the salsa is not fresh. Food: Mexican food and if you don't like real spicy foods, they have a lot to choose from. I always order the #10 Lunch with extra Chili Verde, lettuce, and fresh onions on top. Salsa, guacamole, and chips are warm and delicious. We have gone here since they opened. All my grown children now take my grandchildren. We all love this place. Service: I have been here in both small and large groups. I don't remember ever encountering bad service. However, before they expanded to other locations you would have to wait. Well worth waiting. The servers are upbeat, timely with water and chips, as well as guacamole, extra cheese, or more salsa. Orders are amazingly prompt and correct, and servers are happy to bring anything after the food is served. Don't be shocked if the owner Javier helps out or greets you. Great family restaurant and yes they do service adult beverages. Ambiance: The ambiance varies depending on which location you are at. My favorite place is in S Ogden, on Harrison. Very pleasant, with a fireplace, warm colors, and music playing perfectly. All the Javier's restaurants show a sense of family pride. Okay, soo......Sheesh I don't even know where to start. I'll preface this by saying that I'm Mexican from L.A. (California) who eats lots of Mexican food and have had many variations of different Mexican dishes both in homes and at restaurants. 1. Lovely waitress, even the owner, Amada, seemed lovely. That's where the good ends. Lord bless their hearts . Chips were decent, salsa was ok (seemed like just tomato and salt and a minimal sprinkle of greens to make it seem like "they added cilantro for flavor." I guess Ogden, Utah has yet to meet the ever-delicious wet burrito, because they don't make one. We tried explaining what my hubby wanted and they couldn't do it. And their Carne Asada Burrito- it comes with rice and beans on the side, NOT inside the burrito, itself. LOL. (WUHHH?!?!) Are you cereal, Doña?? Very well, hubby orders the "Ranchero Quesadilla, no veggies (pico de gallo) and the guac on the side," (cuz you never know with that stuff). Well, ladies and gents, they brought out two flour tortillas, folded in half with asada meat inside- NO CHEESE. We're like uhhh, ma'am, we asked for only meat, as in, no veggies, and we wanted guac, just on the side... She's like ohhh, that IS the Ranchero Quesadilla! Umm... I'm confused, there's no cheese?? She's like, yeah, that's how it comes, we have 3 different Quesadillas and that one doesn't come with Cheese. Lol I was trying real hard not to laugh, she was really sweet and seemed genuine in her replies, as if she didn't know otherwise! I'm in the Mexican restaurant twilight zone, at this point! Uhh yeah.. that's different from any purge chile Relleno I've ever had and I try them at most places that serve them, because I like to see the variations. So, not gonna say it was horrible, but, different. They were Anaheim peppers instead of Pasilla and that's alright, I like em both. But, there was way way more egg/flour batter than chile. Needless to say, we weren't impressed. I thought that 33 years in business meant they'd be worth the $45 I was going to and did spend. But, was so mistaken! (Tear.) We ate so fast to get out of there quickly. When they saw us get up lol they thought we were gonna eat and dash cuz they ran to us so fast! They knew we weren't satisfied at all. That didn't help hubby's experience at all! The place itself, well, it's what you'd expect a "Mexican" restaurant serving a mostly non- Mexican community to look like. They seem to have a year-round Christmas tree they keep up and decorate according to the season/ time of year. It's Grad time 2024 right now, so that's what they have up. I rarely leave reviews. I am making an exception here. The salsa was bland and puréed. no texture. My salsa verde burrito had little taste, zero texture. The sauce was reminiscent of canned gravy. the pork was cubed and bland. The beans were watery., the rice was edible. My friends chicken chimichanga was the same, but actually the green guacamole like topping was pretty much inedible. We didn't get a takeaway box for our leftovers. Ask for a menu, ordered number 6 chili verde burrito combo plate off the lunch menu. Total price was $10.81, added a dollar tip even though I normally don't tip at drive-thrus. My debit card was charged $12.87. Tried to call back but no manager was on duty. The food was delicious but Raquel committed a fraud against me by overcharging. read more

I took a door dash delivery for these guys today. It was an easy, convenient run for me (I assume it was a similar experience for the vendor and the customer). This was a pay to play delivery so I ordered upon arrival. The in-app order did not align directly with the restaurants in-store menu but the hostess (or owner) was very helpful deciphering the order with me. Not wanting to stand awkwardly staring at my phone or the floor while I waited, I requested the order to be delivered to the parking lot. While driving looking for lunch I saw this lovely gem. I wasn't expecting much but thought I would give it a try. I was impressed to find an older/middle aged lady working the drive up. So much nicer than some punk kids. She was very Latina. I love seeing authentic Hispanics in the Mexican restaurants I frequent. Makes me feel like I'm likely to get real food not some watered down Americanized version. She was extremely nice, food was nice and hot. It was good, I liked it but It didn't knock my socks off. Javier has really expanded and I salute him from where he started and how its grown. Standard Utah Mexican food- cheddar cheese goes on the refried beans, sauce on everything and large portions for the dinner combo (always make two meals out of one diner combo). That said, I will always go back here vs other local spots (think El Matador)- Javier's food is always super fresh, chips and salsa muy tasty and the very friendly servers will bring you more without a problem. I have been to the location on Harrison Blvd, but not this one. It's on the corner of a busy intersection and can be a little hard to see from the road. The restaurant was busy but still enough seating that we didn't need to wait. The atmosphere was fun and the service was good and quick. The chips and salsa is good. Most of our party got the chimichanga and we all loved it. My portion was enough for supper plus some to take for lunch the next day. We did have the fried ice cream for dessert, which I think is ok, but everyone else loved it. I would recommend this to everyone, especially if you like mexican food. read more
