Prompt and friendly service. I ordered a smothered Mama's breakfast burrito and an iced latte and both were excellent! I will be back!!

Terrific food, but don't go unless you have plenty of time. That being said, the food and view was terrific! The pull apart was to die for, and the fresh fruit was wonderful; the hoku sandwich with ham and cheddar was terrific -- beautifully prepared. However, the service was a serious issue. We told the server we had to leave shortly after breakfast and was assured it was no problem. After the meal, we waited about 10 minutes, and the server never turned up again. We had to find another server to take our card, and then the card didn't appear for another 10 minutes. At that point, we were about to miss our next event, so I went inside to the counter to ask, and both servers were extremely curt and rude, and they got the cards mixed up. Eventually it worked out, but I had to literally run to the next event. EDIT: Went back a second time. Food and drink were excellent, but it took forever to get the check. read more

The atmosphere, the staff, the food, and the drinks are AMAZING! I'm going to go out of my way to go back before I leave the area to continue my road trip. That is how awesome everything was. I tried the Mama's burrito and spiced chai and they were exceptional, especially the chai. The staff was so friendly and they were never ever rude or pushy. It was very friendly. It was okay you order at the counter . Coffee is terrible watered down go get the beagle coffee down the road. Burrito is probably the way to go I had to get extra jalapeños. But after all it's the only sit down breakfast place for a large group. It's okay Il not saying it's fabulous. $4.00 for a cup of coffee ! They are not Starbucks but hey your in the mountains. I don't get all the 5 star reviews. locals? Our lattes were terrible. My husbands mocha tasted like a 7-11 hot chocolate, my regular latte was like half foamed milk and reused grounds. We waited for-e-ever for a 2go order of pancakes and bacon. There were barely any pastries. We got a muffin that might have just been a repackaged grocery store one. bummer. The staff was not very polite- kinda important for a breakfast stop, no? There's a MUCH better bakery in Grand Lake (Called Blue Water Bakery) We'll stick to that one from now on. read more

Great little coffee shop and cafe (for the location). Excellent selection of high-quality teas and decent coffee. Cafe up-front and lounge seating in the back with free WiFi. Didn't stop to eat, but they had a nice menu and their salads looked quite deluxe. A good find in an unexpected place. read more

I am not really a breakfast person, but this is hands down my favorite place to get breakfast!! Their Kona coffee is amazing, as well as Big Mama's Burrito, and the pancakes. My husband and I come here every time we are in town, which is pretty frequently. Their burrito is the perfect portion size, and filled with hash browns, eggs, meat and smothered with AMAZING chili and cheese. It is awesome. And very reasonably priced as well. If you want a darn good breakfast then head Java Lava. I always get the Mamas smothered with their delicious chili. My partner gets the huevos rancheros because it's delicious and seems to be a constant on the "special" menu. My daughter said that the pancakes were delicious too. read more

Java Lava has good food, good value for money, and great staff. We ate there twice while on vacation and thoroughly enjoyed it both times.
