Hot deliciousness in a cup. I'm a big fan of Java Jo's -- they're local, they're fantastic, and use all top quality ingredients. Quick drive through service. Locals, be sure to ask for a punch card! I am in love with their hot vanilla lattes. My husband and I affectionately refer to them as "special coffee" because we go get coffee together every single weekend.. Coffee that tastes like coffee. Go figure. Java Jo's beverages are the local golden standard. The litmus test that I compare other coffee shops to. They're just that good. The fact that I received a notification from another location based service on my phone yesterday that stated that "having 300+ check-ins at this place made me a big deal," should give you an indication of how much I love this place. Murray is a desolate place to find good coffee, the other establishments around are mediocre at best, and Java Jo's is somewhere I would drive miles for just to get a good cup if I needed it. However, it's not just the coffee that make this place great, it's the people that work there. The girls (and occasionally two fellas) are fantastic. They are always happy to see you, always fast, friendly, and welcoming (which is quite the achievement in a little hut) and the coffee (LavAzza) is always perfect. I generally order an 8oz soy latte for $2.50 (8oz is a standard coffee back in my home country), and they will fill any reusable cup that you might want to bring along, too. Java Jo's has several locations, but this one is my go-to as it is so close to work, and you'll often see me here multiple times in a day when the work load is just too much to bear ;) So next time you're in the area - or you just want to be - go see the hut and experience what real coffee and service is like. read more

What else can I say about this beloved coffee shack, other than it's Jo on the go perfection. I tell ya there's plenty of coffee spots all over the valley and plenty of good cups of coffee to be found. However, Java Jo's does it better than anyone! I am in love with this little shack. They're always, busy so make sure you have a few minutes to wait in line (really though even if it's like 5 cars only minutes) it is certainly worth the wait! The barista's are always friendly, and very knowledgeable, if you have questions don't feel intimidated to ask, they're happy to help! P.S. Who would think this tiny little shack could generate so much joy? I begrudgingly started coming to Java Jo's for one primary reason, it was rather close to my workplace and the ONLY coffee shop I could be back from in under 20 minutes. However, as I continued coming here for my daily caffeine fix I started to gradually realize that this place is pretty darn awesome. More and more I found myself comparing it to Beans and Brews, and eventually, Starbucks. Consistency, consistency, consistency. I'm a pretty simple guy. And to win me over it only takes a handful of consistently good experiences and then I am hooked. With that being said, Java Jo's makes an excellent double shot dirty chai latte, caramel machiatto, and freshly brewed coffee. I typically rotate through these three drinks depending on my mood and energy levels. Java Jo's nails it every time. They also serve pastries, but I cannot comment on those as I haven't bought any. The barista's are very good at what they do. They are fast and efficient, and definitely knowledgeable in the fine art of brewing espresso based drinks. On top of that they are extremely friendly and.... don't tell anyone, but pretty cute as well. As dazzling and hip as their baristas are, I have been unable to detect any of the highly annoying, and comical, snobbishness one typically finds with a lot of Starbucks baristas. These guys are grounded. My only quibble is at certain times of the day, there is a line of cars. But if anything this is a testament to how good their drinks are. Java Jo's certainly accomplishes what it is meant to. A fast, tasty, high-quality drink on the go. It is all drive up, you will not find a wi-fi powered seating area. Pro tip: you can specify whether you want actual caramel or caramel flavored syrup. I know a lot of Starbucks purists (myself included) prefer our mach's with drizzled caramel. Well, I found this place years ago, but kind of forgot about it and then recently re-discovered it after deciding to break up with the other coffee place I've been frequenting for a while. Java Jo's has a plethora of espresso drinks with lots of milk and flavoring choices in addition to delicious Lavazza drip coffee. They have recently started offering pastries purchased from a local vendor, Volkers, which I think is great. I love local businesses supporting each other. Best frozen chai in SLC! I love chai and have searched high and low for the best chai. Starbucks is OK, other local shops are too pricey, too spicy, or use the Starbucks chai mix. Java Jo's bucks this trend and makes a solid drink. Their frozen chai is delicious! If you haven't tried or don't like chai, please don't buy a 24 oz based on my review then whine that it tastes like pumpkin pie (since when is that a bad thing anyway?). The staff is friendly at every location and they always say thank you when you give them a tip (which you should unless you are a monster who doesn't tip your local eateries). The line moves quickly and they also have yummy herbal teas. For those of us with sensitive tummies this is a very important point. Sometimes I'm wary of the little side of the road drive through coffee stands but Java Jo's does it right. Their coffee is so tasty I don't even need to add sugar to their lattes. The baristas are super friendly and upbeat which I personally prefer to grouchy servers in the mornings. If your in a hurry be aware there has been a line of cars each morning, but at least they have both sides of the coffee cart open so the line moves quick enough. Honestly my favorite places to get coffee have always been a local coffee shops like Java Jo's and the Salt Lake area. I would compare it to 'Perk's' down in St. George Utah. Giant chain coffee shops like Starbucks tend to be a little overrated and taste extremely generic to me, but if you want something different then your usual every day cup of Joe, and are wary of trying new places for fear that you might not like what they serve, fear not! Because I honestly haven't had one even slightly sub-SPECTACULARLY Tasting drink anywhere on their menu (in the entire 5 years I've been coming here ) ,and I actually Would choose to get the blended coffee drink that I like at Java Jo's over going to the mall and buying a new T-shirt or something similarly priced. Java Jo's is my favorite coffee stop in SLC, particularly the one on 9th South and 13th East. The staff (Joey, Ben, Shelley, etc.) are so friendly and always remember my order, plus never forget to give my dog a treat. They are efficient even during rush hours and don't ever seem overwhelmed. Their frequent buyer stamp card is a great deal if you're stopping for coffee anyway, and they'll even keep your card on file so you don't have to worry about losing it. read more
