I love this Indiana-based coffee house. This location is in the Carmel Clay Public Library, near the front entrance. The coffee is made as cold brew, so it's less acidic. I had an iced Matcha Latte today. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The clerks told me what beverage had the least amount of sugar to meet my request. My latte came out quickly and it was delicious. In addition to coffee, they offer a selection of pastries and breakfast cereals and sandwiches. I did not eat, but other patrons were. The seating is comfortable with lots of options. The cafe is upscale and quiet with a modern vibe. Beware, when classes let out at the high school across the street, the cafe tends to fill with students and a long line develops. There is a parking garage available behind the library. Exquisite library themed atmosphere, literally took the quiet space letting me wait a while watching the two baristas bustle between the bar. It is a spread out layout and easy to plop down, hook up and log on, but this is the usual insanely expensive cold brew only coffee cup. My 16oz salted caramel cloudy latte turned up totally tiny after the cloud evaporated, not sure including air along with the liquids qualifies for sizing? My local Lafayette Java House did the same so I guess it wasn't a fluke. I do keep getting lured back with the creamy smooth easily digested brews here despite the prices priced like single origin quality espresso balanced with crafted house blend ingredients, alas neither get put together while easily adding up to eight and nine bucks with dairy free. read more

I really wanted to love this place. I visit the library often and genuinely want to support a local business, especially one with such a convenient location, you can't beat that. Unfortunately, the service consistently disappoints. The staff rarely greets customers and often seems to ignore people altogether. I've walked out more times than I've actually ordered because I was never acknowledged. It's disheartening to feel invisible in a place you'd like to support. The coffee itself is okay, but honestly, I haven't had the chance to try it as often as I'd like because of the poor service. At times, it feels like you have to look a certain way to be treated as a valued customer and that's not acceptable anywhere. The Carmel Clay Public Library has a real, legit coffee shop inside the building! Java House Coffee Bar is a local chain that has decided to set up here in the newly remodeled library, and the community is all the better for it. I dropped by Java House during one of my many visits to the library to pick up a hold. I was feeling a little peckish during my library run, so I got a scone. When I visited, they had vanilla scones and cinnamon scones, as well as cookies, muffins, cake pops, breakfast sandwiches, bagels, yogurt parfaits, apple sauce, string cheese and Rx Bars. I ordered a vanilla scone, and it was really good (especially warmed up, which they kindly offered to do). I love scones because they're usually not too sweet, and they're just dry enough that they make you want to eat them with a tea or coffee. I should have ordered a tea or coffee! Oh well -- next time. Java House is housed inside the library, so I believe it's only open when the library is open. As stated the coffee shop is located inside the front entrance to the library I was welcomed when I walked in and the representative was fully prepared when I told her I was from yelp I asked for a lavender drink it was not on the menu but she made the drink perfectly My husband ordered a flat vanilla and it was also good I ordered the cinnamon scone It was also good and was served warm I saw an early post stating this was a low key environment and I would agree. The newly renovated Carmel Clay Public Library is stunning, and the addition of a full Java House Coffee Bar is the cherry on top. Find it at the north end of the building, facing Main Street and Carmel High School. They have the full coffee, tea and small food menu that you may know from their other central Indiana locations. Plus, there is ample seating. Best part - if it ever happens to be full, you are in a public library and could take your coffee and laptop to a quiet spot in another part of the library! Ever wish your library had a cafe in it? And wish it was a local cafe to boot? Well I never ever thought this was possible, but here we are and I am sooo excited for it! Placed inside a public library and right across from a public school I couldn't love this location any more if I tried. I brought my aunt along so we could explore together. Ordered their Caramel latte and their breakfast bagel sandwich as the Veggie sandwich is currently being reformulated. We came for the Yelp event but also purchased a mocha frappe. It is the best frappe I have ever tasted. I was "sharing" it with my 6 year old and realized quickly there was no sharing that was going to happen as he hardly let his hands off it! The service was fabulous and the space is clean and modern. As a fan of a good cafe miele, I ordered the Honey Baby with oat milk. It was not bad, but I would try a different signature drink next time. My husband raved about their hot americano, however. Our order came out pretty fast on a Sunday afternoon. This place is definitely worth a stop if you're at the beautiful Carmel library. I came for Elite Week. The people working were great at giving recommendations. 2 of them recommended the same food & drink item. I went with the Brewski (iced) and the sausage sandwich. The drink is sweet, but not overly sweet, I can still taste the coffee (exactly how I like it). The sausage sandwich is good, on an English muffin. Since my drink was iced and had whipped cream, I needed a straw- they only had paper straws which is rough for me since I don't drink very fast. OMG. If you haven't made it to Java House at Carmel Library, you need to check it out. The library is gorgeous and this coffee bar is so sleek. The vibe is really cool. The two ladies at the front were really nice and helpful when it came to choosing the brew. The only downside is there's not clear instructions on how to get in at 7am since the library doesn't open until 9am. Got here at 8:40am and had to wait because 2 of the doors I tried by parking were locked. Wish I had known to walk around to the front instead of waiting the 20min. I got a iced latte with caramel flavoring (they have a bunch to choose from) which was creamy and delicious. I got the Americano for my husband and he loved it. Ordered the bacon and egg sandwich. Drinks are good, sandwiches good. Lovely location and sometimes crowded depending on when school is in session. I ordered with two girls at the counter talking to me and being friendly. But now--Currently been waiting 15 min and had to remind the 3 girls working I had a sandwich. They keep just randomly talking and getting side tracked. They're high schoolers so it is what it is. It's me and one other customer and they have all forgotten our orders lol. I understand if it was crazy busy but two customers....so just be prepared when you go. Kind of crazy me and the only other lady here had to remind the girls of our orders....lol. The worst part I actually tipped today, I thought I'll tip they're nice and pleasant, waits 15 min with the girls giving me weird looks cause I just sat waiting and then having to remind them. I got the same drink I always order at Java House, the workaholic, and my gosh, it tasted like it was made with just syrup. I have always been a big fan of Java House. I am happy they are having such great success and are expanding. I was really curious what the new Java House would be like at the Carmel Clay Public Library. I have never been to a coffee shop in a library before. I was impressed that it looked like the other locations. Overall , it was a very nice looking space. It was very open and had more seating than I was expecting. I am very familiar with the drinks at Java House (my favorites are the iced Brewski and the iced Tedster) but not with the food. That was the one thing I always felt like was missing at the other locations was food. So I was very happy to see this location had food options . I got the egg bites. They were just okay in my opinion. I am curious about the cake pops. I love the ones at Starbucks so would like to see how these compare. I frequent ALL of the JHs in Carmel, and stopped by this one in the CCPL a couple weeks ago around 6:30pm (knowing they were going to close at 7). As I entered, a young lady who works there was mopping the floor and asked if I was there for coffee. When I smiled and said "yes!" she told me they were closed. I told her I knew they were open until 7, and she then told me that they were closing early because of the library hours needing to match their hours (I could tell she was making it up as she told me). She then said "you can go to the one in Midtown" to which I replied "they close at 6:30, I came here bc y'all are open the latest" THEN she looks at her phone for a bit and says "no, they're open. you can go there." well guess what? they were NOT open, as I suspected. I spend quite a bit of money at Java House, and LOVE the other 2 locations. This was an extremely disappointing experience for me. read more
