Fish & Chips with a side of extra chips for the table!

Great food and excellent service! The fish & chips were great, not greasy and the portion was a good size. This was my first time to Jasper. I look forward to my next time.

Really good quality fish and chips. The owners who are also the server/chef are very friendly. It's just very expensive! I ordered the halibut fish with 1/2 the chips and after taxes it came out to be around $20. So, it's probably not a place I would come weekly for lunch. However, if you do crave a good fish and ship restaurant in Pickering I do recommend this place!

A generous serving of crispy Halibut and Chips.

Jasper Fish & Chips is another one of those local businesses that I've ignored, even though I've lived in the same neighbourhood for over twenty years. I had arranged to meet some friends here before going to see a movie across the street but I was running late and called them to order for me before I got there. It took only 8 minutes for me to arrive but my food was already at the table, covered with another plate. Oh no, it's going to be soggy, sweating under that plate. Wrong! The very generous portion of fish, and fries, were still surprisingly very crispy. Mmm, this was a very large and delicious piece of fish, halibut, I believe. Behind the crispy, not crusty, batter, the fish was moist and flaky. The fries were cooked just the way I like them. My only complaint, if I would even call it that, is the little packs of tartar sauce. I like tartar sauce and I must have gone through about 6 of these little packs to cover this piece of fish. I would definitely prefer a house-made sauce in a portion cup. Please, Jasper? The British inspired decor is simple without being divey. The menu is also simple, mostly fish & chips, but offers shrimps, scallops, meat pies, haggis, black pudding, and mushy peas, all English favourites. The service seemed to be good in the short time I was there. I'll be back.

Absolutely solid English style Fitch and chips experience (minus the newspaper wrapping). Great portions of fish and proper chips.

Amazing! My family loves it! Best halibut! Must try! Fries is not recommended. Onion ring is great as well as the coleslaw.

Solid fish and chips. Not oily! Quick service. Prices are about $1-1.50 more than what is posted on photo of menu here.

Review Highlights - Jasper Fish & Chips

The Halibut is battered well without feeling oily and the fries are always fresh, hot and delicious.

Captain's Boil, the formulaic chain would be the floor and the one I really enjoyed, Lobster Boil Seafood House, in North York would be the ceiling. What I'm about to say about Sea Salt would definitely leave their management a bit "salty". Unequivocally, Sea Salt sits in the deep basement of the pecking order. Sea Salt's standing was easily determined after my first spoonful of the seafood broil. The sauce was their downfall as they went overboard with the of garlic and not to mention they burnt the garlic. As the Cajun sauce is the soul of a seafood boil, their sauce literally ruined the entire dish and experience. The combo we ordered came with fried calamari and shrimp and fries. The fried calamari and shrimp lacked a bit of "salt", which is rather ironic considering the restaurant's name and neither of the sauce complimented (sweet chilli and ranch) the calamari well. The fries were what you expected it to be. But a little bit too much sauce. The one thing that I liked was you could choose to have the Turkish Salaam Cola as part of your combo drink choice. I didn't think it was all that different from regular cola, but it was nice to try. Service is quite slow here and not super attentive. We had to flag them down various times to get things that should have been provided. We weren't given enough plates to start and we had to request for bibs and disposable gloves. These are pretty standard things at other boil places. In general, the appetizers were better than the seafood boil. The portion of the combo was pretty good so we packed some of it to go. But to put things into perspective, the following day I reheated the food for lunch, and my two kids didn't even touch it (with one of them who had experienced Lobster Boil Seafood house). That tells you something!

You go girls I love it. Came here for dinner and had a hard time choosing what to order as there are so many good options on the menu. Really wanted the calamari & shrimp appetizer but opted in for the shrimp bucket and the fish and chips. I also got a coconut mango drink which was super refreshing and delicious. I thought the fish tacos had a kick of spice added but they were still good. The fries were crispy, which I loved but the highlight for me has to be the shrimp. I loveeeeed the sea salt sauce. Though I usually don't like corn, I loved this one and enjoyed the meal. Would come back here for more for sure!

We all ordered one dish and the prices range from $18 - $28 depending on the protein. I tried the Pad garlic pepper beef $21. I was very surprised to find out steamed rice (extra $3) is not served with your entree. My wife ordered the Thai basil chicken and mother-in-law had the chicken green curry. Overall the food portion is decent and flavours are alright. The thai ice tea was good as well. In terms of dining experience, we had to follow up several times to get our take out order and containers. I know this restaurant recently opened about 2 months ago so there's room for improvement. In terms of larger groups of 6 people or more the menu indicates a mandatory gratuity of 18%. I am not a fan of the mandatory gratuity and should be left to the client. If you're looking for some Thai cuisine with good portions and depth of flavours, then this place might be for you. Some may find this place on the pricier side.

My aunt and uncle, and most of their friends it seems, come here often. It's a bit of an older crowd here, but still worth checking out. Though, make time for parking because it's street parking and there's not much of it close by. I got the soup d'jour which was potato and leek. It was yummy and comforting, especially on a cold and rainy day. The soup was savory and not over salted. My main course was fish and chips. The fish was plump, and the batter was crispy. The fries were on the softer side. I didn't try the cole slaw because I'm not a fan. Service was friendly. I would state that you should come here when you are not in a time crunch. Not that they're slow - I think the food came out in time. But you want to take the time to enjoy the food, views, and company. Lastly, the atmosphere is more on the quiet side, at least for Americans maybe (I guess I'm feeding into the stereotype but also I come from a loud family). So something to keep in mind when you're there.
