I've been eating at the various Jason's Delis in the Texas Hill Country for decades. The Lakeway location is my favorite. The restaurant is always spotless. The salad bar is always fully stocked and clean. Since I work close by (8 minutes) I tend to eat at Jason's 2-3 times per week for the last 4 1/2 years. I've gotten to know several of the employees. They are all nice and friendly. I see Asst. Mgr. Carlton working the register, the food line, delivering food to the customers, and cleaning the tables. It's unusual to see a member of management to all of those tasks. David keeps the Drive-Thru hopping. I never see a line building up. When it's slow he will take for a front register or delivers food to the tables. Rommel and Lu are the masters of the food line. They are in a constant hustle to get the food made and out. Jarod is in continuous motion with taking orders, on the food line, or running dishes to the tables. They Yasmine keeps the salad bar super clean and stocked. She always has a friendly greeting and smile for me. The rest of the staff are friendly and always in motion. This crew seems to be a well oiled machine. The food is super fresh and served quickly. I have no idea why these guys are rated so poorly, but we come here often and I find the service to be very good and the food is also good. Love their California club and I also like to do the build your own ham sandwich from time to time. The beef stew is good, but sometimes can have a lot of fat in it. It is very flavorful. Eeks! What has happened to quality control at this location? My last two orders were thrown together sloppily, not packed well (both delivery), and sadly far from yummy. As a mega JD fan, I shed a tiny tear. :( The muffaletta a month ago was just meh. Why? I mean, that's Jason's thang! My most recent order was a hot corned beef sandwich and Italian pasta. The pasta was very mushy and had zero flavor. The corned beef was...yeah, I'm going there...the worst I've ever had. So dry (see pics; and it's not particularly a lean cut of meat), also lacked flavor, and was "butchered" not in a good way. I'm actually shocked they let the beef be served. Frankly, both were so unenjoyable I didn't take more than two bites. So why 2 stars instead of 1 in my current state of disappointment? The staff was very pleasant. The store was clean. I really enjoyed my conversation while waiting for my order. My potato was MASSIVE and so delicious. I have only had food from Jason's Deli a handful of times, but I will definitely be back for more. read more

For as an affluent area as Lakeway, it's shocking that there is no real salad-focused restaurant in the area ala Mad Greens or Salata. The only option in the area is Jason's Deli, which has numerous salads on the menu as well as a pretty solid salad bar, complete with a selection of mini pastries, buttered toasts, and plenty of dressing options. Of course, you don't have to eat salad here: The real draw is of course the muffuletta, which is as good as any you'll get this side of New Orleans. The quarter side -- with chips and a pickle -- is plenty for lunch, with ample meats and cheeses and a double dose of olive salad. (Jason's is fairly mild in comparison to most olive salads, but still worthwhile.) As well, every dine-in Jason's experience is incomplete without a visit to the free soft-serve dispenser. My wife continues to work on mastering her swirl technique and considers each visit a personal challenge. Jason's is of course a pretty basic chain and one does not come here for any sort of special occasion. But when a salad or a muffuletta is in the cards, and you don't feel like driving out of the 'hood, you could do a lot worse. read more

About a year ago I complained about tables full of dirty dishes and not being bused. Also, the food was not very good. However, I returned January 30th and enjoyed a great experience. My pasta penne was excellent and served in a timely manner. They had just opened so all the tables were clean but I noticed when an earlier diner left his table was cleared quickly. Jason's Deli is finally open! We called first to be sure they had actually opened, then headed over for Sunday lunch. We both had the Salad bar with a cup of soup ($8.48 + $1.89 respectively) which is a good deal. I had the Tortilla Soup while my hubby had the Chicken Pot Pie (so rich!). We were given our large, chilled salad bowls and proceeded to the well-stocked salad bar. There's something there for almost every taste - greens, toppings of all kinds, potato salad, slaw, beets, boiled eggs, hummus, tamponade, plenty of freshly-made dressings, muffins, crackers, and more. We sat down and began eating. My husband finished his salad before the soup was delivered, but didn't have to wait long. Everything was fresh and delicious! Being somewhat of a Lakeway native, and that not being that I've ever lived in Lakeway, but more so that I've worked in the area for like 18 years; I've got my lunch order to most places in the area on lock. Butttttttt... today was the first time in history that I dined in at Jason's Deli! I was kindly greeted by the registrar (not the correct definition but should be for someone working a register) and then proceeded to order like a JD pro! I always get their Nutty Mixup salad, which is a blend of foragings. I feel like this was on a fad diet's menu at one point, not sure which. The to-go version is superb, but let me tell you, dining in tapped in to a new level! A piled high stack of fruits, nuts and greens, with a delicate sprinkle of feta, and sealed with their balsamic, had me saying Whoa!, like Joey from Blossom. The salad maybe be mixed up but I'm not. And, then the Irish Potato soup. So, I'm not sure of the authenticity of the Irish part but it's basically a loaded potato, except where every bite has the same proportions of toppings, unlike the spud-struggles we all run into, like where only the top 38 percent of the potato is edible, because that's the depth the butter reaches, and so on. The soup is a hearty, colder-weather win, at points I even chewed it. And, to slosh it all down I branched out and tried something new, their pomegranate blueberry drink. I sent an email to corporate after our last experience there in April and didn't get a response so they must not care that their customers are ignored in the restaurant. We were standing in line and the employee working the register saw us, walked away, came back, walked away. She never greeted us and said she would be with us in a moment. There was another employee at a different register and he never greeted us. It was like we were invisible. This was not at the lunch rush, it was around 2 pm and my daughter had an appt so we left and went to a drive through. If it took that long for them to acknowledge us, who knows how long we would be waiting for our food? Everyone is short handed but that is no excuse to be rude to customers when they are patiently waiting to order food. I didn't get mad and cause a scene, I just walked out. Will not be back to this location and it is less than 2 miles from my house. read more

First we like Jasons Deli. We miss the one in Westlake/ great customer service. The food here is fine. But every time we order to go food, I have to double check my order then it feels like I am arguing over what's missing. I've been a Jason's customer for 30 years, I certainly know the items I order. This place needs some customer service training. If they were are polite as chick fila, the sales would double. Don't make customers with choices in restaurants feel like they should buy elsewhere. read more

Jason's Deli... well, I used to really like this place (other locations) but this one is a bit disappointing and I can't pinpoint it. The food itself is still pretty good. I prefer the Mesa Chicken Salad, the Italian Cruz Po'Boy or the Carmela. I just don't understand why this place takes so long. I've been there as the only person in the drive through and hardly any cars in the parking lot and I'm still waiting for a really long time. One time I was there with 5 other cars in line and paid for my meal and they had me pull around to the waiting lane. After 20 more minutes and multiple cars leaving with their food, I called inside and asked if they forgot about me. Seems like that was a yes. Sigh. Came here after about a year of not coming due to moving. Back in the area and decided to try ranchero chicken wrap. Thought it would be quick and easy since its a drive thru and relatively easy meal. Well im behind a car now for 15 min, either your team is incredibly slow or they ordered everything on the menu, either way you guys need to do better. 15 min in a drive thru is ridiculous and i'm not embellishing either. I left a review as a dasher also terrible experience. You know some of these yelp reviews i do are good and some are bad.. but among the bad some managers reach out more or less right away to attempt to right their wrong. And It always does right the wrong and i update my review to reflect that. But its been defijitely a week or so since my last review and MIA manager. Thats bad customer retention. This place used to be good i'm guessing new management took over. A shame. read more

I remember when Jason's deli was a place for a good fresh sandwich but really it's just gas station food in a different setting. We went later in the night, it was not busy, yet the service was extremely slow. I ordered 2 sandwiches. The chicken was what you'd find at subway and did not agree with my stomach probably due to lack of cooking. The taste left much to be desired. The BLT was a bit better but again, the wheat bread tasted old. It had that typical taste of bread that had been left out for days. The bacon was extremely over cooked, and was better off being used to scrape the floor. It was not edible. This was my first time going to this location and certainly my last. For the price of the food, I was expecting more. I wasn't expecting food that is steamed/cooked in a plastic bag. I can go to a local gas station for that. read more

Just went to Jason's Deil in Lakeway. Just FYI - if you use the salad bar you will need to wear gloves. Although the lady handing you the tray for the salad bar doesn't let you know this is the procedure / maybe they should post a sign on the salad bar letting you know this also. (Just my thoughts) The manager rudely came to me and told me next time I need to follow procedure. My hands were sanitized before I fixed my salad. read more

I visited last week and ordered a salad bar and an entree for lunch. I was eating my salad and was having a hard time chewing what I thought were the onions. It was really hard, almost to the point of hurting so I spit it out into a napkin, it was a plastic white ring about a half dollar size. I made the server aware and she said ok thank you for letting us know. I could have choked. It was obviosly something from the ranch as she was digging through the ranch to see if there was any more pieces of plastic. I lost my appetite for sure and after spendinf $20.00 on lunch, I was really disgusted with the lack of customer service. read more

Excellent service and the food was good too. This was my 1st trying a drive thru at Jason's Deli and Trey was Awesome! I wasn't sure what vegetarian option I wanted and I didn't see it on the menu but Trey patiently gave me multiple vegetarian options along with the ingredients of each. When I moved to New Orleans in the late 1960s I discovered the wonderful sandwich called muffuletta. I first had them at the Central Grocery which is famous for their muffulettas. I then discovered Messina's Oyster Bar in the French Quarter where the muffulettas were even better, primarily because they toasted the bun and Central Grocery did not. The one thing they had in common was liberal use of garlic in the olive salad. My wife could always tell when I had eaten at Messina's because she could smell the garlic when I walked in the front door. I have since relocated to Lakeway and was delighted to see Jason's open nearby. I was very disappointed in the muffuletta I had the first week they were open - absolutely no trace of garlic. I have had them in other Jason's delis so assumed they needed a little time to iron out the kinks. I tried another muffuletta recently and it had the same bland taste. I mentioned to a friend who had also enjoyed muffulettas. She tried one and had the same reaction - no garlic taste. I wrote to the Lakeway Jason's and asked them to look into it. Hardly needs a thumbs up. Much larger inside than it looks. Plus it has a drive through which I haven't seen at other locations. Now I don't have to go to Westlake or 183 for my favorite muffaletta and gumbo. Nice to have a salad bar as well. You may see a lot of seniors there like me. Cuz we know what's good! read more
