Okay... I have to talk about Firehouse Subs for a second I went to the Lakeway location and first off--parking was super easy (which already puts them ahead of half the places out there ). Now the food... WOW. I got the tuna sub and added bacon (don't judge me--just try it ). It was SO good. The bread is what really got me though--soft, fluffy, and somehow perfect in every bite. Like... how is bread this good?? They loaded it up with fresh toppings like tomatoes and provolone, plus a side of onions and a dill pickle. I don't know what they're doing back there, but they need to keep doing it. Also, you can grab chips or other sides, so you're not leaving hungry--that's for sure. Moral of the story: if you're anywhere near Lakeway and craving a sub, just go. Trust me. Your taste buds will thank you read more

I don't think I've ever been to a Firehouse Subs. For sure I've never been to this location. Today I came to grab something for lunch at work. I took a minute to look over their sandwiches. I got the Yurkey bacon ranch. Told them to leave it dry, no condiments. I wasn't ready to eat it for a couple of hours. So I didn't want the bread to get soggy. I was asked if I wanted white or wheat bread. I choose wheat. A few minutes later they called my name with my sandwhich in a to go box in a bag. A few hours later when I was ready for a late lunch, I opened the box up and saw that the sandwich was a decent size. It was cut in half on an angle, and everything looked really good. Turkey, bacon, tomato, cheese and shredded lettuce. I added my own oil and vinegar. Was delicious. The bread was soft and the lettuce was crispy even when it sat in the fridge for a couple hours. I walked around and saw they had a patio. Completely covered with a roof and trees that shaded it too. The patio is huge and is shared with another business next door. Lots of space! read more

Subs at Firehouse are nothing like at other sub places, at least not like most of them. The subs are delicious and flavorful, the bread is fresh, the chicken is tender and the veggies are crisp. They seem to have enough choices to please everybody and they donate to the fire department. To top it all they also have a loyalty program that rewards free subs after you have ordered a 10+. Sometimes they have Garlic bread as an option and We love it. Its one of our go to places and will remain that way. read more

First time Customer. Ordered a large Italian with double meat. 30 dollar Sandwich that was delivered was tasteless to slightly sweet. Asked for extra oil and vinegar but none was on the sandwich. The service is very slow. Over 40 minutes for fast food that was ordered online. The food is okay. Very wet. The sad thing is there is nowhere else to eat in the outdoor mall. The turn over of staff is very frequent. The main guy, manager?, is not pleasant or nice. read more

YELP, You never fail me! I was working in a neighborhood right down the road from here and went on a limb and tried a new place. WOW, was I impressed! I ordered the Italian sub, and I must say a medium is very large and filling. The first thing I noticed was how they did not hold back on the meat. The sandwich was perfectly put together and the flavors all went together very well. I don't frequent sandwich shops often but this one, I will return to. The staff was very friendly, the bathroom was clean and they had a huge patio area that over looked part of a golf course and a little pond of some sort. 3 of my co workers all ate different subs and everyone said it was fabulous. I love this Firehouse Subs location. The staff is very friendly, especially the owner, Steve King. The food is consistently delicious. This is one of the few locations that has an outdoor patio, which is a very pleasant area to enjoy the food at, since it has a nice view of the golf course and a pond. Decent choice for subs in the Lakeway/Lake Travis area. I'm more a fan of Jimmy Johns, but they lack hot subs. Firehouse does a better-than-average meatball, and a horribly named but very good pastrami-corned beef sub called the 'Steamer'. (Yeah, for those of you from the East Coast, stop snickering.) Definitely worth a stop. This place gets 3 stars on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. WHY is it always so effing dirty here?!?!!! The tables, the chairs, the floors, the bathrooms... I watched an employee who makes sandwiches pick up chunks of mud off the floor while wearing his gloves. He was the same guy who later brought out our food. Given how filthy this place is, I cannot help but wonder if he took off the gloves, washed his hands then donned new gloves?? Also, is ANYONE happy to work here?? Everyone always looks so miserable. The warm sandwiches included warm lettuce and warm tomatoes. Suffice to say that's already not pleasant but it also made the bread soggy. I stop at this location once a week while I'm in the area for work. Thus far, every time I'm here, the franchise owner is working the register and it seems he takes great pride in his location. Everything is clean and well organized, speed of service is great, and the patio is awesome. I mostly decided to write this review because I noticed the multiple negative reviews about the place being dirty and the sandwiches being crappy and that was so far from my weekly experience that I felt compelled to set the record straight. Sure the employees don't look like they're having much fun but how fun can making sandwiches really be. I'm sure I don't look like I'm having much fun when I'm typing up TPS reports. This place is stupid, their menu is a lie, and their food sucks. The only saving grace is that the employees I dealt with were pretty great. I'd never eaten at a Firehouse Subs before, and I decided to give it a shot. Their menu clearly delineates a middle section for hot sandwiches. It doesn't, however, tell you anything about what you can get on your sandwich - no list of veggies, no list of meats, what you order will be a total mystery. With rare few exceptions, I think the very concept of a hot sandwich is repugnant, let alone a hot sub. I ordered a roast beef sandwich to go, got it, and drove off. As I was driving, I noticed that my sandwich smelled exceptionally strong. Not bad, just strong. I had a hunch and, at a stop light, checked it out. The sandwich I'd ordered, not from the hot sandwich menu, was hot. There was lettuce on my sandwich that was going to be a wilted mess by the time I got home. I had mayo on the sandwich, for crying out loud. I called their customer service and was told that, like I'm supposed to be psychic and know this, all their sandwiches are hot. There is a specific section of the menu for hot sandwiches. Why would they do this if ALL the sandwiches are hot? I took a bite out of the sandwich when I got to my destination, just because I don't like to waste food, and it was just as I suspected - the entire sandwich was a hot, limp, disgusting mess. I threw the remainder out because I couldn't bring myself to eat the rest of this garbage. Their ingredients are bad, their corporate customer service is bad, their menu is a confusing lie... Do not eat here. Just don't. There is a Subway a few blocks away, so just eat there. Firehouse Subs needs to go out of business and leave everyone involved bankrupt and only able to afford bologna to survive on. I have found myself here twice and the first time their attitude was the problem. But just now I ordered 2 sandwiches and went out back to sit down with my girl and child. Not gross like subway, not all snooty like Quiznos, and jimmy johns are you even trying. Taste leaps and bounds over all three. Very friendly staff. One of the coolest coke machines ever with over 80 different drinks. They also support the local Emergency Services. From now on I will not go anywhere else for a sandwich.
