Let me begin by saying that Jason is a super cool, nice guy, and I enjoyed chatting with him and supporting his small business. This is why he gets 2 stars. I also waited until I got my PC fixed elsewhere to make sure this would be an accurate review and not based solely on assumptions. Unfortunately, being a nice guy doesn't mean getting away with poor service. To avoid writing a novel, let me summarize the issue and then a list of the pros and cons of my experience. SITUATION: My GPU (2080ti) went out, so I assumed it was overheated (it was old and dirty). So I bought a new one (3060ti), and things worked fine. A day later, my CPU was overheating, and I could see leakage from the AIO CPU liquid cooler. Decided to take it to a professional to do a full diagnostic and determine what, if any, hardware would need replaced. PROS: 1. Jason is a cool dude who's fun to talk to. 2. Most of his communication was timely and responsive; I was always able to get an update when I wanted it, all via text messaging. Huge value prop. CONS: 1. Does not seem to have much experience or success with hardware issues. All my problems were related to hardware not working and wanting things diagnosed and replaced. His lack of expertise (or at least articulation) was evident. 2. Time estimates are a bit off - saying he could get something done in a week, when it actually took 4 weeks (and "done" is arguable....). I often had to reach out for the update, which is fine since he actually responded quickly, but would expect to be contacted and not the one contacting. 3. He (or one of his tech employees) did a full cleaning of the motherboard and GPU. However upon getting it back, there were still significant stains and dried goop everywhere. Of course, this meant my GPU and/or MB failed again (worked fine for an hour, then completely went dark). 4. My liquid cooler was replaced with another one, however I did not receive any of the extra parts or receipt for it (was charged $175, but my own research after showed it was less than half that). 5. I also had a nicer RGB fan that was replaced (to accommodate the new cooler), but I never got it back. He just kept it. CONCLUSION: When I raised some of these concerns with Jason, he offered to clean it again for free (which is nice, but also, expected since the service wasn't done right). It had been 4 weeks at this point, so I decided against it and just took it to another business, PC Genie in downtown Austin. The tech there did a full, thorough cleaning and was able to test all the parts. He was also surprised at the poor quality of work done by Jason's team. The damage from the leaked cooler ruined the motherboard, which is all I ended up needing to replace. OVERALL, I DO NOT RECOMMEND Jason for any hardware issues. Perhaps he's great with the software side of things, but if you need any physical diagnoses or work done, this is not the business to work with. read more

I came across Jason after using Yelp to find another computer repair guy after my guy I've used before was unavailable Based on the Yelp reviews I decided to give Jason a shot. My interactions with Jason from the beginning was very pleasant and profesional. He gave me good expectations of what to expect as he troubleshooted my laptops and he let me know he had over 10 years of experience. I had two laptops with issues. An HP with a virus and a Toshiba with a Windows blue screen error. After my first call with Jason I checked a couple of places that didn't work with my schedule and went with Jason whom proceeded to set up a nearby meeting location. We met up and I dropped off my laptops. Jason was very good about communicating progress on the repair of my laptops. I wasn't in a rush to have my laptops back so I told him to take his time. I have the laptops back in 3 days. The laptop with the virus costed e $95 and the Toshiba costed me $140 including the hard drive which had failed and data transfer. After receiving my laptops. The Toshiba one wasn't typing, I hadn't even turned my laptop on for a few days since receiving it. The HP one had no issues. I immediately called Jason and explained. He agreed to take a look at. It turned out the keyboard drivers needed to be installed. I was very pleased that in service even after I paid him and had discovered the issued. I paid $89.99 to reset my computer after i had a virus. in my discussion with him he said that my computer would work exactly like before and promised he will do it right. The problem we had was the hinge of my wife's laptop was "busted" because my grandson tried to close the laptop with a carrot inside. He works out of his house. Due to covid and other reversals, he gave up his storefront and is entirely remote. Same with a couple technicians who work with him. This appears to be part of the new entrepreneurial business model. 2. He worked as a technician for Dell for 10+ years before going solo, for all the usual reasons. 3. If you plan to take advantage of Jason's skills, either call or text him first. Because he doesn't have a storefront, getting to him is a little trickier but easy once you figure it out. Last winter/spring during a 7 month-long visit to Austin, Jason reconfigured/updated an extremely nice new-to-me, aka used, laptop that was given to me when the laptop I brought on my trip decided to fry itself into the happy computer recycling bin at the landfill. Where to even begin with Jason! I have so many positive things to say, I don't even know where to begin! I was at wits end with my laptop after it decided to finally conk out on me after 10 years by giving me the "blue screen of death." I tried everything I could to get the message to go away, but after a long night of watching Youtube tutorials I just couldn't take it any longer and decided to turn to Yelp for some help. Am I glad I did! Immediately I found Jason in my surrounding area, and after reading all of his reviews, I knew I should contact him. Within minutes I was already getting a response back with reasonable quotes he could offer me. I was impressed because I had also sent out a message to four other companies who did not respond within a timely manner (actually, one responded right after I dropped my computer off with Jason- sucks to suck) He was able to take my computer in that night and restore all my files on my hard drive to an external one. He was also very confident about fixing my computer to run again good as new, and after meeting him in person, I definitely believe he could do it. However, I decided to place my money into financing a newer laptop for myself.
