We had a fluorescent type ceiling light in our kitchen. It took 2 circular bulbs. One of the bulbs burned out but when we replaced it, the new bulb did not work. We were told that the ballast was probably bad. I contacted several electricians, some by phone and some by e-mail asking the cost to replace the ballast. Some I never heard back from. Others did call and gave me prices. A couple of the electricians told me that it was better to replace the light with an LED light instead of replacing the ballast. One of the places I contacted was Jason at Jason Klein Electrical Contractors. I found him on Yelp and was very impressed with his reviews. I e-mailed him explaining my problem with the light and the ballast. He called me back and left me a message as I was not home when he called. Instead of just giving me prices, he also gave me a very detailed message. He explained a variety of things, among them that an LED light was best, but also he explained what type of LED light was best to get and ones that were not good to get because they would be too bright. He explained so much good & helpful information about LED lights and also about his company which is he and his brother Stephen. Jason's price was in the middle of the prices I was quoted but what sold me on hiring Jason was his phone message and also his wonderful reviews on Yelp. My wife and I took his advice and found an LED light that was close to the type of brightness that he recommended. We had previously bought a light that would actually have been way too bright. I made arrangements for Jason to come to install the light. Before the day of the installation, I had e-mailed him with some questions on a couple of occasions. He called me back right away. On the day of installation, he called ahead of time to tell me exactly when he would arrive and he did arrive on time. I didn't have to wait around for hours. Jason gave me a specific time and he kept to that time. Jason is courteous, kind, & a wonderful person. He is a very good electrician. He did great work installing the new ceiling light. He checked it and made sure it was installed correctly and securely. The price that Jason quoted me is the price I was charged. Jason Klein provided a prompt and thorough written estimate of the work I requested. He followed this with an additional estimate when I realized that more work was required. Jason scheduled a mutually convenient day for the work to be done, with allowance for additional time in the event his team encountered unforeseen complications. He followed that with a telephone call several days ahead to inquire whether I was ready to have the work done on the day we had scheduled. A team of two electricians arrived and each man introduced himself. The first man said that he would remove a defective electrical panel in the basement of my newly purchased ranch house and replace it with a safe panel, while the second man would update older electrical outlets upstairs with modern GFCI and grounded receptacles. Throughout the first day work proceeded as planned. The electricians found, however, that they needed some additional supplies before continuing their work the following morning. They notified me by email that they would be slightly delayed, and that is exactly what happened--only a fifteen minute delay from when they were originally supposed to begin their work. At the end of the second day, the electrician who worked on the panels showed me what switches to push if any emergency arose. He also labeled the various switches on the panel so that I would know which switch controlled which receptacle. Most importantly, he printed which direction was "ON" and which direction was "OFF" at my request. Within five minutes after the team departed, Jason called me to ask whether everything was done according to our agreement, and whether I was pleased with the work performed. He encouraged me to call him if I had any questions about electrical matters. He followed this with an invoice marked "Paid." From my experience with this firm, I have no doubt that I will contact them again if and when I have any other electrical work to be done. We were so impressed with Jason Klein Electrical. We found them through Angi and selected them based on their consistently high reviews and the fact that they reached out immediately and responded promptly. We needed to have an outlet installed on our deck. My husband, who is quite handy, did a lot of the prep work so we could save some money but since we live in a condo we wanted to make sure that the work was done professionally, with a permit and would pass inspection for insurance and liability purposes and Jason Klein was fine with that. They were extremely professional, communicated clearly, promptly and regularly and took care of all the paperwork for the permit, which was obtained in record time. Once the permit was approved, they immediately reached out again and were able to put us on the calendar within a few days. They showed up perfectly on time (I'm a stickler for punctuality so I was very happy with that), did a great job, and I noticed several courtesies that I really appreciated. For example, I casually mentioned that our dog is a bit of a runner and they made sure to close the door behind them every time so he wouldn't get out. When they were on the deck, they closed the sliding doors to minimize the noise to me when they were drilling, the things they had to move to get the job done were all put back in their place before they left, etc. Their pricing was also extremely reasonable. Jason and Stephen Klein were absolutely fabulous! Honestly, I can't say enough positive things about how thorough and competent these guys are. They spent the day in my house repairing a variety of problems and installing new lighting and boxes/switches. They were respectful of my time and my property. They cared about doing the job well and thoughtfully. They made sure I was in the loop on each change they needed to make and made sure I understood how the new/changed features worked. Jason was in my attic working on my bathroom fixture when he found an old, unsafe electrical wiring problem. He made sure it was eliminated and that the area was now safe. Stephen took time to show me how my new outdoor lighting worked since it was a fixture I was not familiar with. They had to cut through my vinyl siding to install a new vent, and they were careful to make sure that the area around the new cut was undisturbed. They have also replaced industrial lighting at my business: quick, efficient, clean and complete. They are extremely knowledgeable, competent and thoughtful. A couple of weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon, while nailing sheetrock to a ceiling joist, I hit an electrical wire - the one supplying power to my furnace. Luckily I tripped the circuit breaker. Unfortunately, I was without my furnace for the better part of a weekend. On Monday morning, after checking reviews on yelp and a couple other sites, I contacted Jason Klein Electrical to see if and when they could come repair the wire. I am, admittedly, somewhat skeptical of these reviews, not knowing if they have somehow been stacked in the contractor's favor. In this case, I found the five star rating to be on the mark. After calling early Monday morning, Jason arrived within about 40 minutes (luckily they are located in the next town over) and had the wire repaired in about an hour. I contacted Jason based upon a friend's recommendation as someone that did great work at a reasonable price. (I always keep in my that you get what you pay for.) When I contacted Jason he was able to quickly talk about the projects and with a few simple photos was able to give an estimate. I hired him to do the work at my house. Well...there was an internal employee personality clash that threw a little excitement into the day. However, without a pause Jason was all over it. He contacted me explaining what happened, how sorry he was and how he was going to fix it. Could not have been handled better. Jason sent another one of his crews over who finished off the job. This is the kind of contractor we all want to work with these days. I requested an estimate to have a transfer switch set up for the battery back up I recently purchased. Jason answered that request with a very thorough estimate that I was pleased with so I hired him. Two very nice men came to install the unit yesterday. They did a wonderful job! I hired Jason Klein electric to install two light fixtures in my home and add dimmer switches. One fixture was in a two story foyer requiring a 20-foot ladder.
