I went on a Saturday during lunchtime, and I was blown away with the crazy amounts of people coming in. Service was absolutely amazing. Every worker was super friendly. The line moved fast with the number of workers they have. The first bite of the rice and beans was heaven. It brought me back to my grandmother's cooking. They have so many choices of authentic Puerto Rican food. This place is 2 hours away from my house but I guarantee you I'll be coming here quite often. They have seating but like I said first come first serve. Get in here before any rush hours and you'll be ok. They have a great amount of breads as well as Spanish pastries. The amount of food you get for what you pay is crazy. I ordered rice and lentils, with red beans, and roasted pork. It was literally enough for lunch and dinner or two people. This was dine in, not sure how much you get for takeout. Smart me I ordered my kids there own meal which had to be taken home as well. This is a definite go-to spot for Puerto Rican food. The location isn't in the best of towns, but everyone there was friendly and there to chow down.

Since it opened during the pandemic, we hadn't really gotten a chance to get out and try this spot…read more But finally, we had time and caught them while they were open. Listen. While you're reading this, just start getting ready to leave and head there. You have to try it. They are only open certain days, so make sure you check which day of the week it is first! Let's start with the atmosphere. We were greeted with a warm (masked) smile from the young lady at the register. She was polite and friendly, and was able to answer our questions with no issue. She let us take our time, since we were first timers - we didn't know what we wanted to order quite yet. While we were deciding, the owner came over and added some input on what we might want to try. Once of her slogans is "trust me," and y'all. TRUST her. She did not miss. We ordered the jerk chicken tacos, and the large chicken meal, with the "smack-n-cheese", and "potatoes sweeties". Each of our meals came with rice and beans, which were both separately packaged. So I'm sure you want to know - how did it taste? Well, let me tell you...we were not disappointed. Everything was well made, well seasoned, and well packaged (no spills in transit). We didn't try any dessert this time around, but we already told Ms. Adrienne we'd be back. Now, it's your turn to go visit!

Yelp's listing is incorrect; the restaurant is still very much in business, and serving one of the…read moremost fragrant and flavorful chow I have ever had. I became a huge fan of Laotian food when one of the Thai restaurants in Ithaca decided to shift their focus onto one of the most underrepresented cuisines in the US, and was sad when they closed - unexpectedly - a few years ago. Laos has its own, unique, cuisine, which unfortunately gets lumped with Thai (Laab/Larb, for instance, is Laotian national dish). During one of our late trips we have decided to take a detour and check out SoulLao'd. It was so good that, on the way back, we took another detour, just to dine there. Many people don't know that sticky rice is used as a tool (akin to spoon/fork) to scoop the food out. Again, that's understandable, considering how few Lao restaurants we have around. It may take a few minutes for novices to figure it out, but once that's over, it's all smooth sailing. I suggest that you go for the SouLao'd Specialty Dishes. I had the raw Laab Sein (Beef Salad), and - on the way back - Peeng Lein (Grilled Beef Tongue), both spiced the way it is meant to be, Chef's suggestion ("You want it the authentic way? You got it"). Hubby had Laab Kai (Chicken Salad) both times; I guess he loved the dish. Make sure you ask about Sai Oua; this incredible pork sausage is not a regular staple; being home-made it takes a lot of preparation. ***If you go to a Laotian restaurant, take advantage of how lucky you are to come across one, and do not go for the usual Thai food. If you do, you will miss quite an adventure. *** Service was enthusiastic, attentive and knowledgeable - it is a family-owned restaurant, and Chef's daughter pretty much runs the business. We can hardly wait till April, for our next trip up north. Another detour, just to dine at SoulLao'd? You bet!

The satay was dry and the accompanied sauce had no taste, unfortunately. The soup was low to medium spicy ,enough for me. Aside from the spice, I couldn't taste any lemongrass and the chicken in the soup was also extremely dry. The noodle were pretty good and not to sound like a broken record, but the chicken again was very dry. I wanted to like it.
