I wait months to get an appointment, plan my schedule around it, and then end up having it canceled at the last minute. Once is understandable--things happen. But having this happen three times in a row, every single time I've booked, is unacceptable. At this point, it's not an isolated inconvenience; it's a pattern that shows a complete lack of respect for clients' time. I've given this salon multiple chances, but I will not be returning. There are plenty of other salons that can provide a more reliable and professional experience.

I was not at all sure my hair could be salvaged after being razored and chopped in recent months. The color is dimensional and natural and the cut is terrific too. I arrived with an absolute emergency of a mess, a cut off all your hair, how did I get here, MESS. Major chemical/product damage, it was not viable. I was fully resigned to a short bob for a complete restart, but she was able to use her skill to come up with what she called a "custom haircut" and that's exactly what it was. Where the texture was once straw/sandpaper, is now silk. I cannot recommend Susan enough! If she can make sunshine come out of THIS experience, I can only imagine what she is capable of working with other clients. It was very kind of all the ladies in the salon to come and give their recommendations as well, I really felt like everyone came together and saved what they could of my hair! We actually went to the same beauty school (I am a hairdresser too - Becky de la Rosa under Sutie One) and know each from those days but lost touch for a few years until I saw him recently in the window of James Rose salon. I am so, so happy that happened as I could not be more thrilled with my new hair cut! I recently changed my level of fitness from 0 to 60 mph and joined Power Yoga in San Rafael (also awesome!) and needed a cut that required NO work and lots of style so I can get out of the shower and drag a comb through it and have it end up looking fabulous - something lots of people want. I was looking for really short hair but wanted it to be edgy and not too butch and asked for Liza Minelli meets punk rock. Boy did he deliver - he was effortless about it, super sweetie to talk to and really just enjoy his energy. He trained and worked at Vidal Sassoon and it shows - he knows how to carve into hair and give it texture, shape and edgyness while keeping it classy. On top of all this he is very reasonable at $55 a cut - total bargain. Tip him well, he deserves it! read more

Dave meets my three criteria for a great haircut... 1. Conversation. Dave is a pleasure to talk to. Relaxed and easygoing. Overall, a great conversationalist. 2. "Grow-out factor." His cuts look great the moment he is done, and progressively improve over time as your hair grows out. I don't know how he does it, but he does. 3. Value. I lived in SF for years and routinely overpaid for mediocre haircuts. Simply put, Dave charges a reasonable price for a remarkable haircut. I had to tell her I couldn't even see because there was clearly hair covering my face. It was obvious. It just felt like she wasn't reading the room at all. Moments like that really disrupt the vibe of the appointment. It feels unprofessional and honestly gives me the ick. When someone interrupts the flow like that, it takes away from the experience and, in my opinion, probably affects people's tips too because it kills the mood right before checkout. Obviously, I'm gonna pay before I leave and schedule my next appointment. I feel like she doesn't read the room and comes at the most inconvenient time. It's kind of a buzz kill. I genuinely like my stylist and the work he does, but if this continues to happen, I might have to reconsider coming back.

His cut and guidance has made an incredible difference in my confidence in blow drying my hair and the results when I am done. Michael has also been doing my color. He's been awesome in paying close attention to what's working and what's not and making suggestions on how to achieve the vision he sees for my hair. Apart from my happy results from my stylist Michael, I find the vibe of the salon to be a positive influence over my overall experience. Michael is an absolute joy to spend time with and the owner Evet makes me feel appreciated as a client. My hair looks and feels like it is in the best condition that it has ever been.
