They said they could do it, so I proceeded on. I was asked if I needed a hair cut too, no just the color I said. Well, 4 hours later, I was outraged!! During my procedure a woman came in asking for a hair cut. Kaz (owner)said yes come back at... Well, I then heard Myra whom was coloring my hair saying she wished a haircut wasn't put in while she was trying to do my color, as "You never know how this color can turn out" So, I was doubtful as the woman came back and waited "Thirty Minutes!" She was angry. So, all attention was in her her as I sat in a chair feeling scorched! That's what happened; left with no regulation as to how long I should sit there. I also know you are supposed to be under the dryer for a bit. I said I usually do go under the dryer. "No, you don't need to". Hummmm? So, I left with a burnt scalp, loss of hair and the color orange. I told her I didn't like it and I'm in a lot of pain. She tried to cover it up saying it looked good. NO it DOES NOT! I'm a paying customer not a dumb shit! Anyway, I proceed to ask for my money back. She refused with no apology; so all I could do was dispute it. I attempted at least 8 times to please refund me. Nope, so as soon as the department of dispute saw my photo's, I supposedly got a refund; still waiting. I do NOT recommend Hair Fax what-so-ever and shame you Kaz! I have a scab on my head. Doctor had to see it(her mouth dropped!). So, what was supposed to cost $190.00 and did, ended up costing me over 5 hundred dollars for repair and doctors appointments!! The Color Lounge

I've been going to Marissa at Color Lounge in Fairfax for over 11 years, and I can't recommend her…read morehighly enough. The biggest compliment I can give her is that I completely trust her. She's incredibly talented, but she's also honest. About two years ago, I decided to stop coloring my hair and embrace my natural gray. Considering that coloring is a big part of her business, she could have easily tried to talk me out of it. Instead, she supported my decision, gave me thoughtful advice, and even told me my gray looked beautiful. That kind of integrity is rare. Marissa never pushes services or products you don't need--she genuinely wants what's best for your hair. I've also been getting keratin treatments with her, and they've been fantastic. The results look natural--smooth, healthy, and easy to manage without making my hair look unnaturally straight. My last treatment lasted nearly eight months, which made it well worth the investment. One piece of advice for anyone considering keratin: listen to Marissa's instructions. I learned that the hard way! Once, I went straight into the ocean after my treatment, even though she had advised me not to, and the saltwater definitely affected the results. On another trip to humid Mexico, I thought the treatment had disappeared, but as soon as I returned to California's drier climate, my hair looked smooth again. Keratin reacts to humidity, and Marissa does an excellent job explaining how to care for it. Follow her recommendations--including using the proper shampoo--and you'll get the best possible results. Beyond her skill, Marissa is warm, professional, fair, and truly passionate about what she does. Every visit is welcoming, relaxed, and enjoyable. If you're looking for someone with exceptional talent, honest advice, and genuine integrity, I wholeheartedly recommend Marissa at Color Lounge. After more than a decade as her client, I wouldn't trust anyone else with my hair. Now, 3 months after my last keratin, this is how I wake up in the morning! I love it!

Total waste of $400 for a failed treatment and zero accountability…read more I've had many keratin treatments over the years and know the process well. This was a total failure. The appointment was rushed (under 2 hours) and I even noticed my hair was sticky to the touch when I got home. Despite waiting a full week to wash and using sulfate-free shampoo, my hair is patchy, frizzy, and kinky. In all my years, I've never seen such patchy results. This is actually worse than a treatment simply "not taking" - my curl pattern is completely inconsistent, with straight patches, wavy patches, and frizzy patches all over my head. This is clear proof the stylist didn't properly apply the product or heat-seal the sections. I actually had to flat-iron my own hair every morning because it wouldn't stay straight. I didn't even reach out until after my first wash to give it a fair chance, but the stylist was dismissive and claimed I "didn't understand" the process. Most professional salons offer a fix or a refund when a treatment fails; this stylist refused both. Look at the photos--this is not a professional result. Save your money and go elsewhere.

After I showered for the first time I did not use shampoo.

3 months after last keratin, no styling at all, my hair is so much more manageable. Woke up this way! Every day is a good hair day.

Once upon a time, I was a girl who refused to color my hair. Then, on a whim, I decided to get highlights, and I walked into Sproos to meet Sandra. Funky and outgoing, she turned out to be a fantastic hairdresser with the spunkiest personality this side of...I don't even know. She's just freaking great. At first, I told her I wasn't so sure about the highlights I got, and she was totally cool about working with me on ideas for the next time. And then I just kept coming back for more. Cut to nearly seven years later...Sandra is one of the coolest people I know, with a wonderful insight on hair and a desire to truly make her customers happy. She even rooted me on when I wanted to go Little Mermaid meets Phoenix meets Victoria from Twilight red, did a fantastic job of making the color, and then an even more fantastic job when I came back to her two weeks later in panic because my hair didn't want to hold the color. Sandra works a little magic....some adjustments are made....and boom, I walked out with the sexiest new haircolor ever, followed by a string of compliments as I walked back to my car. She truly is a chemist, and a great one at that. At this point, when Sandra asks me what I'd like done with my hair, I smile and say, "Whatever you want." Because, quite frankly, when I let her work her magic it's always twice as good as what I had in mind. read more

After moving to the area from out of town not too long ago, I have been looking for the right stylist for the last 8 months. Frustrating to say the least...until now. I've gone to 6 differerent stylists since I got here and no one seemed to get it right. But, now that I have found Maha, I will be coming back for sure! Maha told me that she has been in the industry for 3 or 4 years, but you can absolutely tell that she was born to do this. I told her what I thought would look good on me and after listening to me she told me that we might want to go in a different direction because of my face shape and features. I had never thought of the cut she suggested, and she was absolutely right. It looks really good, and my wife thinks so too! It's really cool to have a new haircut that is more cutting edge. It makes me feel younger, and I feel more confident. As far as the Salon goes, it's a nice friendly place in a very convenient location in downtown San Anselmo. The atmosphere is laid-back and comfortable. It's next to marin coffee roasters if you want coffee before or after, and the staff was helpful as well. This place is definitely for me. Give Maha a call, you won't regret it. read more

As a bi-racial woman, I have found it difficult to find a salon worthy of taming the beast (my hair), in Marin. I have a vicious mound of thick curly , almost, unmanageable hair that would be a nightmare and a time consuming event for any stylist here. I tried to keep doing it my self, but professional care is needed once in a while for hair as complicated as mine. I decided to try a Salon near my neighborhood, so I went to Sproos. In general, the atmosphere is comfortable and the people who work there seem like real, genuine people who know their trade. But the most important thing was that the stylist who managed my hair , Shiva, was charming , effective and almost magical. HE, a tattooed , bad-boy, oozing of masculinity, managed to tame my hair! He transformed the plethora of curls into manageable , beautiful , silky-straight hair. It looked amazing. At the same, time ,he styled my hair in a way that would preserve the beauty of my natural curls. No one, let alone a white man, has ever tamed the beast. Sproos..Professional, creative, individuals who can style any type of hair...and I mean ANY type, and give you more than satisfactory results. read more

I got a fantastic cut by Cyndi last week at Sproos! My best friend got an amazing haircut with Cyndi last month (referred by her co-worker had a great hair color with Annie) and so I couldn't wait for my schedule to open up for some "Me-Time!" The receptionist was very egar to make the appointment work with my schedule (which I admit is not easy!) During my appointment I had a helpful and honest consult to really help me get a cut that I can style myself, Cyndi was so helpful to make sure I was really ready for the changes that I was asking for (: the end result was beyond my expectations! I have to say that it was a fun experience, everyone was really sweet and upbeat, it was a nice a way to spend my afternoon. I was given a deep conditioning and complimentary skin care samples and discounts from the next door European Spa ( I cannot wait to go there next!) Now I have a highlight appointment in 3 weeks (when I would get my bangs trimed) it will be so fun to get ready for Summer! It's exciting to have the support to take care of yourself! I eally do recommend Sproos for your first cut with someone new! read more

The brass ring of talent is here with Kim at Sproos San Anselmo. I came as a new Groupon.com client for a Brazilian Blowout, color and cut. A little about my hair - thick, coarse, stubborn, inconsistent natural curl, frizz, dull with resistant grays. A little about me - haven't seen the inside of a salon for 20+ years except for a disastrous attempt at japanese hair straightening 2 years ago. The hair color Kim gave me is unbelievable and exactly what I wanted, she really seemed to get what I wanted with few words - a natural intuitive talent that you can't train for! The trust was there instantly, a concept that is easy to recognize yet hard to describe. For the first time in years I am really excited to go back for more. The Brazilian Blowout was PAINLESS and the result had me literally speechless. I have been petting my hair all night. It is smooth, shiny and manageable for the first time in my life! Kim cleaned up my "self cuts" wonderfully without any guilt inducing comments. Everyone in the salon seemed very welcoming and I felt completely comfortable - huge! read more

I have been a client for over 5 years, and Sproos is by far one of the best salons I have been to (and I have been to many in my years on both coasts), and Lena is your go to stylist. Lena is not only very stylish and knows what's out there, but she is confident with both color and cuts and blow-outs. She is a sweetheart and sitting in her chair is always a delight! She is a awesome listener and has a great way of giving you creative input when you want to try to change things up a bit and try something new. The front reception area is super friendly and professional and the salon has a very relaxed atmosphere with a great hip flair! Hey! Did I also mention Lena does the best eyelash extensions in all Marin? Your eyes will pop and be red-carpet ready when you leave her table. Estelle Guenot has just moved from Siren Salon to Sproos Hair Salon and it gave this first time yelp reviewer reason to finally yelp! I have naturally thick hair with a bit of curl to it that can make it unruly. Estelle has been cutting my hair for almost two years now and every time I am amazed at the cut and style she has given it. It is perfection! I always get compliments on my hair and this is the first time in my life that this is the case. She gives so much time and thought to your hair, that the haircut works both right after the cut and weeks later as the hair grows into it. Estelle also does color. My hair always looks natural - but better. She has found this perfect shade of rich brown with golden highlights that I love. I have referred others to her and always they have the same result - natural only better. In short, this girl ROCKS and is simply BRILLIANT when it comes to hair. Hip Salon-Upscale stylist: I met Sandra Wayner when she first started working in Marin County almost 10 years ago. I was a walk-in, off the street, and I am so happy that I found her. I moved 2 1/2 hours north in 2007 and continue to drive the distance to get my "Sandra fix" and it is worth every mile and every penny. She is the consummate professional, outstanding in her arena, and continues to impress with her continued education and expertise in all aspects of hair care and design. It is rare to find a stylist that does an impeccable job on both color and cut. For central Marin & someone at her level, her prices are very reasonable - Sandra gets it. Smart, witty, and gives a hell of a shampoo, Sandra is a breath of fresh air (in a genre flooded with amateurs). Your hair is the only accessory you don't take off - - Sandra gets it done right! If you need a rich and flattering color ask for Jenna Callinan! I have super color-resistant hair and I left with a fabulous deep red that I am completely in love with. It's been almost 8 weeks and my color is still bright. Plus, her bubbly personailty makes the time fly by! Jennifer Brena has given me my two favorite haircuts of all time. Once an assymetrical bob and I left Sproos feeling so confident. Did I mention the volumous blowout I left with? And most recently she gave me an assymetrical pixie that makes me feel like Rihanna. Her precision and attention to detail never cease to amaze me. My hair would be a hot mess without my fantastic stylists. When I walked into Sproos Salon I was nervous. I wanted to cut my hair short, but wasn't convinced it would look good on me. I had been going to the city and though i loved my stylist it was just to far to drive now that i had moved to Marin. Changing stylist is scary as it is, but a new stylist and a drastic change is positively terrifying. Kim took her time during the consultation to ensure we had the perfect cut for me. I was still nervous, but Kim assured me it would look great and by the time she started cutting i was completely at ease. She cut my shoulder length hair into an amazing, adorable pixie like cut. I was thrilled. Kim was nice to talk to and knew exactly what I wanted and made it look good on me. I could not be happier that i stopped in and feel totally lucky Kim had an opening. Hi, my name is Sandra, and I have been working at Sproos for 4 years after moving up to this area from the central coast of California. Sproos is the best! I have been going to Sandra for years now and I ALWAYS love my hair. I had shaved my head about 6 years ago and she got me through a lot of the awkward grow out period. She did my hair for my wedding and it was incredible, so many people were talking about it. She does blow outs for my special occasions, waxes my brows and in about a month she will be cutting off my 10 inches to donate to Locks of Love! She is incredible and I wouldn't go to anyone else! She also has a sweet little dog named Picasso who sometimes goes to the salon with her. She also cuts my grandmothers hair, my grandma has thick coarse hair and doesn't like her ears, and Sandra always gives her a cut she loves! GO TO SPROOS! read more

Kim was my stylist at Sproos. I had not changed my stylist in years, but had heard she was really good. It was important to me that my stylist be really great with color and highlights. Kim was terriffic. She did my highlights exactly the way I had imagined them-I had never been able to get anyone to do this kind of techique. She used 3 different colors so that when they grow out I can barely tell. If I want it darker or lighter she is great at adjusting. She is as creative as you want her to be with style and color-but if you want it subtle she will do so. I can ask her what she thinks I should do and now absolutely trust her judgement. If I want something new, she can tell me if it will suit me or not-she doesn't say what she thinks I want to hear-she tells me the truth. She personally trained Kim as her protege-Kim is also fantastic and is the stylist I go to. I can go in with my eyes closed, not say a word, and I would come out looking great. But you don't want to keep your eyes closed, because she is also a beautiful gir!! Easy on the eyes and easy to be around. Didn't want that one review I read to define Kim-she is an excellent stylist, professional, and seems to be a wonderful person as well. read more

She always has good recommendations on how to freshen up my color, she gives the best haircuts, and the conversation is easy. 10/10. I live in Fairfield and still travel back to San Rafael once per month to see her. She's that good. The other staff are great too. They always greet you and offer coffee/tea/water when you arrive. All that changed when I went back last week on Nina's recommendation to work with Kathleen. She is a treasure. A fantastic listener, patient. She loves what she does and that comes through. She's delightful company to boot. None of that would matter if the haircut and color didn't turn out great. I was not at all sure my hair could be salvaged after being razored and chopped in recent months. The color is dimensional and natural and the cut is terrific too. It feels wonderful to know I've re-found my way to a new hair home. And I got a bunch of spontaneous compliments!

I sent my daughter there to get a hair cut and get a part of her hair changed to blonde. The owner of this place gave us a price of $130 for Boleosh Color, $100 for hair cut. She doubled the price to $400, because she used more foil and product, she said. Note to the owner: "I recommend you let your clients know of the change in the price, prior to doing the work, and don't surprise them, and hide behind the fact you are so pro, up beat, and you serve the rich people and we don't deserve to live in your neighborhood... etc. " The owner of this place took advantage of my daughter, what a pathetic losing way of extracting money from people!!!! We are not happy with the results at all!!! After I left this review, this is the true colors of the owner come out, on her private message to me on Yelp, I have edited the "ugly words" to help and follow yelp guide lines.
