I have been a loyal client of Gale's for years now! She is the only person I trust when it comes to my hair. I can honestly talk on and on about how she is truly the most amazing and talented person ever, a true angel and my favorite person ever. She has such an insane grasp of color knowledge and hair knowledge, I am just always amazed at her ability to look at my hair and know exactly how and what we can do to make it work. I've been going to Gale for a few years now and she completely helped me move on from box dye at home into a much healthier, professional approach to my hair. Terrible experience. Drove from the East Bay for an 11:15 appointment with Gayle who "got confused " about my appointment time and the service I was supposed to get. I waited patiently for a half hour - 45 minutes if you count the fact that I arrived early. She proceeds to tell me she doesn't have time to do my service now and tells me that she can only do a certain portion of my service. I tell her I'm not happy with that - I want my full service and she says obviously she can't make me happy. I tell her I'm leaving and she has the audacity to tell me there is a cancellation fee. Wish I could change HER a cancellation fee - my rate is $75 bucks an hour and she just wasted half my day. read more

My 15 yo daughter have had horrible experiences in other saloons and was very anxious at her first visit. I came here on my wedding day with my mother to get fancy styles for my special day. I was so excited. Until my stylist literally insulted my hair, talked down to me and didn't do what I asked for at ALL. She was so incredibly rude to me and ruined my hair and my day entirely. One of my foibles is that I love to get beauty treatments very last minute. I cannot plan these things. Enter Sproos. I called on a Friday afternoon and was enjoying a glorious Keratin Express treatment with Dawn first thing Saturday morning (this is like a Keratin treatment but is quicker, cheaper and lasts 4-6 weeks instead of 3 months). Dawn was hilarious, easy to talk to and gave me a really great looking blowout. The price was right. Treatment time was just under an hour and a half. Felt like a million bucks when I walked out. My hair looks smooth and flat and amazing a few hours later. I hope the Keratin treatment lives up to its promise! read more

This review is for Nicole and Stephanie, who did my hair & makeup for my wedding in April. Nicole did my hair. She is so sweet and easygoing, and she always does an excellent job. This was the case for both my trial run and my wedding day. I felt so beautiful and confident. She listens to what you are looking for, looks at any examples you provide, and makes it come to life. My hair lasted all day and night with no need to touch it up or fidget with it (which I usually do!) Stephanie did my makeup. I was a little unsure at first since I don't wear makeup very often, but she made me look like a better glammed-up version of myself. Her makeup application lasted long into the evening, and even into the next day because I loved it so much I didn't want to take it off! She's also super sweet and easy to talk to, very attentive to what you want, and wants to make you happy. I would highly recommend both of these girls for hair & makeup for wedding day services. They also did a few of my bridesmaids, mother, and touch-ups for my mother in law and my mom's friend last minute. They came to our house and made us all feel so comfortable, but also made the experience feel really special. We were totally on time for departure for the wedding, if not a bit early! I stopped by for my haircut appointment with Scott and thought the salon space was very welcoming. He was a great stylist and fun to chat with during my appointment but I left with an asymmetric shoulder length choppy bob and he also couldn't see the asymmetry.... I wanted to support San Anselmo but am thinking there's a good reason the girls out here have long hair....Ultimately the asymmetry was intolerable and I had to make another appointment elsewhere and hope that North Bay is not where the Bay Area herds stylists who disfigure women's hair. read more

I can't say enough about Jennifer, who I found on accident using a Groupon for a Keratin treatment - let me just say, I have continuted to go to her and my hair has looked better than ever - so much so that my friends are now scheduling appts with her. She has amazing attention to detail, delivers better than expected and is a lovely person to spend the time it takes for Keratin treatments, highlights and detailed cuts... I really wanted to like Sproos, and I even waited six weeks to write this review so that it wouldn't be emotionally driven. I will leave the stylist's name out of the review because I like her as a person. I told the stylist I wanted an A-line cut, long in the front stacked in the back. I told her that my hair has a tendency to be wavy so absolutely no layers or else my hair sticks out on the sides even with tons of flat-ironing. I ended up with super short layers on the side and hair that wasn't even stacked in the back. I don't even know what to call the haircut. It looked cute at the salon but as soon as I got home and washed my hair I saw the disaster. The left side was cut shorter than the right side. I can make it look decent with lots of flat-ironing, but I like the A-line cut because it is pretty low maintenance when cut correctly. When I left Sproos I made an appointment to return in six weeks but I had to call and cancel it. I don't think I would let this stylist near my hair. Maybe we talked to much and she got distracted or maybe A-lines aren't her thing? Luckily hair grows back, and I will be returning to Studio B salon in Napa where I have never had a bad haircut. read more

This is a great salon and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I went to Katie Mallis and LOVED my hair color. I was unsure about doing Ombre with my hair, and after talking with Katie about her plan, I felt confident that she would do a beautiful job. She has unique and beautiful ideas and executed them perfectly. I felt that she heard my concerns about color choices and chose a great color while also making my hair current by adding the blonde to the ends. I take a plane to get my hair done by Denise. That's how amazing she is. I FLY there from San Diego. Her coloring skills are beyond perfection. I'd trust her with my life, but luckily for her I only need to trust her with my hair. My hair hasn't looked so naturally blonde since I was a kid. She uses a technique called balayage (look it up) and what it means for me is that when my roots grow out, you don't see a solid line where the hair was dyed. It looks super soft and natural and blends seamlessly with my natural color. I used to go 2 months and start to stress about my dye line when I did highlights, but now 5 months pass and I barely notice it. Oh and she gives a mean head massage. And she's just a fabulous person to talk to. And she has the world's cutest puppy (ask for pics). read more

Cyndi is amazing! She has been cutting and coloring my hair for over 15 years, and I've followed her from San Francisco to San Anselmo. She is a genius with color. She spends time talking to you to ensure she has an accurate understanding of what you want (and makes sure that you really understand what you are asking for too). I trust her 100% with my hair - in fact, on occasion, I've asked her to just do whatever she thinks is best and I am always happy with the results. She isn't afraid to be honest and will tell you when you're asking for something that she knows wouldn't look good. Last month, she put the Keratin hair smoothing treatment on my hair. It is amazing!
