I have never been a yelper, but feel this needs to be seen and heard: I went to Hair Fax for a bleach and tone, something I have done several times, so I basically know how the process works. They said they could do it, so I proceeded on. I was asked if I needed a hair cut too, no just the color I said. Well, 4 hours later, I was outraged!! During my procedure a woman came in asking for a hair cut. Kaz (owner)said yes come back at... Well, I then heard Myra whom was coloring my hair saying she wished a haircut wasn't put in while she was trying to do my color, as "You never know how this color can turn out" So, I was doubtful as the woman came back and waited "Thirty Minutes!" She was angry. So, all attention was in her her as I sat in a chair feeling scorched! That's what happened; left with no regulation as to how long I should sit there. I also know you are supposed to be under the dryer for a bit. I said I usually do go under the dryer. "No, you don't need to". Hummmm? So, I left with a burnt scalp, loss of hair and the color orange. I told her I didn't like it and I'm in a lot of pain. She tried to cover it up saying it looked good. NO it DOES NOT! I'm a paying customer not a dumb shit! Anyway, I proceed to ask for my money back. She refused with no apology; so all I could do was dispute it. I attempted at least 8 times to please refund me. Nope, so as soon as the department of dispute saw my photo's, I supposedly got a refund; still waiting. I do NOT recommend Hair Fax what-so-ever and shame you Kaz! I have a scab on my head. Doctor had to see it(her mouth dropped!). So, what was supposed to cost $190.00 and did, ended up costing me over 5 hundred dollars for repair and doctors appointments!! I don't recommend this place and yet I still have no letter of apology. I'm a business owner. Don't treat your customers like a herd of cattle so you get the money! read more

Peach Wright has been my esthetician for a long time, giving me Brazilian waxes and most recently a lash lift. Peach is a true professional! I had never had a lash lift before and Peach was great at walking me through the process and explaining everything before and during the treatment. She was gentle and I absolutely loved the results! I had never been here before, but Kaz, Hunter and Isaac essentially saved my hair's life today. It was damaged so far beyond repair it was insane. Kaz and Isaac were honest but tactful about the length I wanted to keep versus the length I NEEDED to lose. Hunter kept me at ease the whole appointment and did a great job as well. They all did a great job. Pretty sure this was the only haircut I could've gotten where I lost this much length and still loved it. They spent over 3 hours putting me to rights with multiple color treatments and I couldn't be more impressed with both their expertise and what they managed to create from what I came in the door with. I am new to San Anselmo and made some phone calls to all the (yelped) high rated salons in the area. I had to screen out a chemical that I am highly allergic to. I heard back from a few salons and even made an appt at one (deciding to bring my own product as they confirmed the chemical in question to be in their product). Then, Frank called me back from Hairfax and took the time to research and call me back to confirm their products were all clear of this chemical I had to avoid. He went above and beyond with this - and I was so impressed that I cancelled the appt. at the other salon. My appt. was with Terra Ward. I walked into the salon and was warmly greeted by her and Frank. The salon was spotless, tastefully decorated and did not have the nasty odor (mostly from nail products) that most salons have. They were also playing very cool background music. Cheesy magazines were no where to be found. Terra took her time consulting with me and really cared about what I was trying to describe as desirable and otherwise. Then, she magically covered by bad hair color (a job I did myself LOL) and gave me a super sexy cut that turned heads as I walked down Bolinas after to meet the hubby for dinner. I stopped in on impulse for a haircut this past Friday. I had the afternoon off and was walking by and decided to pop in. The day before, I had been in SF and got a free hair consultation in one of those upscale salons near Union Square. The owner himself declared my hair a wreck because it had been over-processed by a bad perm and too much coloring. He said I needed at least 4 inches lopped off because how badly damaged the ends were! So, I walked into Hairfax and Isaac was available to cut my hair. I received a warm welcome from all the women in the salon. Isaac was very soothing and said cutting just 2 inches and some light trimming on my layers would give my hair a big boost. She gave me ideas about styling my hair and spritzed some wonderful smelling Rene Furterer shea oil to finish my hairstyle. I felt so much better and my hair looked really good. Got the worst cut of my life last week, on my birthday, no less. Kaz started with a bunch of overblown bravado about the type of cut I wanted after looking at a photo (this is rock star hair!!!), ignored my concern about the top layers being too short, didn't ask me one question, and proceeded to hack the hell outa my hair. Just bad all the way around--looks like a really bad 70s shag. It's not just unflattering, it's truly awful in terms of technique. The way it was cut just brought out all the course/frizz. At the end she made a disparaging comment about layered cuts.. WOW. I'd post a photo, but I'm too embarrassed to be seen at this point. Follow up: The salon did refund my money. So there's that. I will also say that Hunter gives a great head massage while shampooing, and seems like a delightful person. read more

This review is for waxing services with Peach. After moving from SF and having my previous wax studio close, I was seeking a new aesthetician. Hairfax offers sugar wax and regular/strip wax and I chose a Brazilian sugar wax. Peach walks through each step before and during your treatment so you know what to expect and is very knowledgeable on her waxing technique. I've had some many Brazilians from CA to Miami and thought i had had sugaring done but realized a few minutes in that i hadn't. Sugar wax is an age-old technique that is friendly on the environment AND your skin. A few days later, this was best wax I've probably ever had with no ingrown or signs of any looming! I've worked with Ciera when she was at her previous salon and followed her here. She's fantastic! I get highlights(having tried Balyage and decided it didn't care for it) and cut/style with Ciera. I always love the color and cut. My hair, which is blond and roughly shoulder length, always looks so bright and shiny on the crown with the Ciera treatment. I really like that her cut makes my hair look great just washed and no product or blow dry and also professional with the whole home process I apply when going to work which includes root lifter, possibly some texturizer, blow dry, curling iron, and hair spray.
