If I could give 0 stars I would because of being scammed by Patricia. This is not a good place to send your kid to do a hair cut and color change. I sent my daughter there to get a hair cut and get a part of her hair changed to blonde. The owner of this place gave us a price of $130 for Boleosh Color, $100 for hair cut. She doubled the price to $400, because she used more foil and product, she said. Note to the owner: "I recommend you let your clients know of the change in the price, prior to doing the work, and don't surprise them, and hide behind the fact you are so pro, up beat, and you serve the rich people and we don't deserve to live in your neighborhood... etc. " The owner of this place took advantage of my daughter, what a pathetic losing way of extracting money from people!!!! We are not happy with the results at all!!! After I left this review, this is the true colors of the owner come out, on her private message to me on Yelp, I have edited the "ugly words" to help and follow yelp guide lines. Her assistant also followed suit with insults with the private message as well. I have been following Christina Vargas since she was at Cooper Alley. Cooper Alley was ok. It was in Country Mart so I could grab some rustic for lunch when done. Sometimes the service was hit or miss and it was always quite loud. When she moved to the next salon I was not a fan of the space. A little dark. Service seemed cold. I went to Gravity for my first time today and the space is beautiful and modern. I LOVED how calm and serene the space was. Parking was a breeze and it is right near another Rustic. YAY! As usually, my haircut with Christina was great but what put this experience over the others was her assistant. Kind, warm, and hardworking. She gave me an amazing shampoo and neck/back massage. So, I quite obviously have major trust issues. But my hair was in a state of emergency, and badly needed a cut and a deep conditioning. I was lucky to get an appointment. I have a ton of thick hair. But as I said, I can be hard to work with personally too, because I am very picky. My time was also short that day. When I left I wasn't super happy with the cut. I went back and Christina spent an hour with me after her shift was over. She was so precise and meticulous. My hair looks amazing now. She really did an incredible job. I was feeling that blah feeling I get sometimes in between my cut and color appointments - the hair just doesn't fall right any more and it's too thick in some sections and too thin in others. My stylist that I super love is in Berkeley so I can't just pop in for a pick me up trim. I'm so glad that I met Christina when she stopped into my office which is down the street from Gravity. She was so nice - I called and scheduled an appointment for the same day. Christina really knows hair. I have short fine hair and she took the time while she was cutting to evaluate the movement and flow. She sculpted the back and neckline to add more definition to the shape of my head and then framed the front and bangs around my face so that I can grow my hair style into an A-line. I looked and felt so good, I immediately went out and took new headshots for my office's website. It's great that I now have such a lovely and talented stylist close by. read more

I want to write a review but I really don't want a response that is mean and hostile. I've only been to Gravity twice and left with a mediocre color and cut. Truly expensive and I don't mind paying if I'm satisfied. $400 seems extremely expensive. I switched to APLuxe in Mill Valley and walked away for half the price with a more than fabulous result. I recently moved to the area and decided to try Gravity salon based on its Yelp reviews and modern, clean look. I am thrilled with the results of my visit. For years, I've disliked the red highlights that always seem to appear with my color treatments. Patricia was able to eliminate those with just one visit. And the conditioning treatment the friendly assistant, Hannah, applied has made my hair smoother and softer than it's been in years. Christina cut my hair thoughtfully and carefully and styled it exactly the way I liked. It is obvious Patricia and Christina are experts in their fields and very skilled professionals. I like to write my reviews after my second visit to an establishment. It says a lot about a place if they can get me to return again. No exceptions for Gravity Salon. My first visit here I was taken care of by the beautiful Hannah. She gave me a blowout and left me looking like a million bucks. Hannah, washed my hair and gave me a very relaxing massage. She later walked me to her station and began her magic. When she finished she gave me some information on my hair and what I should use to keep it looking healthy and shinny, she then recommended the products used. Such professionalism, but in a fun and friendly way. Second visit I brought my mom along with me to get her grays dyed. Again, Hannah worked her magic, and made my mom looked ten years younger! She took her time, never rushed, and made sure my moms comfort was of upmost priority. While my mom when being beautified, I was getting a blowout from Anitra. Anitra, is so chic, and fashion forward. I knew I was going to leave looking like a rock star! I was not wrong. Again, I was treated with excellent service and plenty of information on keeping my hair lovely. I can't wait to come back to get my hair cut, once it's at my desired length. I came to see Patricia after my previous hair stylist didn't color my hair the blonde that I wanted. I kind of gave it another shot and it seemed like I kept getting this "yellowish" blonde, so I thought I would come to a new salon to just give it a shot! I'm sooooooo happy I did! Patricia is amazing! My hair always, ALWAYS, turns orange and then brassy red whenever I do color. I thought my only option as I enter my 50s was short, gray hair. But, Patricia changed that! My color is amazing. Every 3-4 months she will do full high-lights with base color, which is expensive, but then she just does a root touch up for the next 2-3 times I see her, which is very reasonable. Her haircuts are on the high side, but then again, she does such a great job that I only need my hair cut once every 3-4 months. There was 1 time where I thought my hair was too dark. Patricia had me come in the next day to fix it; no hassle, no charge, no awkward feelings. She wanted to make sure I was happy with my hair. Patricia is the best! read more

Nervous to share this review because I would like to keep her all to myself. But I know how hard it is to find an awesome hairstylist, especially if you have difficult BIG hair. I was absolutely blown away from my first appt. Patricia puts you at ease straight away asking relevant questions and offering useful advice. She is hip, professional, and lovely with a magnificent talent. I have extremely difficult hair and usually leave salons unsatisfied but not here. Patricia has colored and cut my hair and she always makes me feel like a million dollars. I actually left in tears of happiness on my first visit, really! Christina has been my stylist for 17 yrs now and for good reason. I have always had long hair but decided to chop it off and donate it in honor of a friend going thru chemo. I showed Christina they type of cut I wanted and 10 inches later, I regretted not doing it years ago! It looks BEYOND FABULOUS!!! Salon is super nice and the assistants give really good head massages! All of the staff is nice and fun and it does not feel pretentious like when I would go to Cooper Alley.
