I came back for another haircut and I do want to start by saying that I really like my stylist. He always does a great job, and I've actually recommended him to other people because I trust his work. That being said, the front desk experience was disappointing again. This time it was the main girl who handles scheduling (last time she wasn't there and another staff member who helps with blow-drying was covering, and that experience was just as annoying). During my appointment -- while I literally had hair all over my face -- she walked up asking me to book my next appointment and pay. I had to tell her I couldn't even see because there was clearly hair covering my face. It was obvious. It just felt like she wasn't reading the room at all. Moments like that really disrupt the vibe of the appointment. It feels unprofessional and honestly gives me the ick. When someone interrupts the flow like that, it takes away from the experience and, in my opinion, probably affects people's tips too because it kills the mood right before checkout. Obviously, I'm gonna pay before I leave and schedule my next appointment. I feel like she doesn't read the room and comes at the most inconvenient time. It's kind of a buzz kill. I genuinely like my stylist and the work he does, but if this continues to happen, I might have to reconsider coming back. read more

I have used their services two times and after the last service I can confidently say the cut would be two stars. I found that the hairstylists were very kind but were uninspired and did not try to provide the haircut I was hoping for. No use even showing them a picture because they don't actually even try to achieve your desired look. If you're looking for a basic trim then this place might be for you. If you're looking to mix things up and great hairstyling, I'd look elsewhere. read more

I've had great experiences with both Stephanie and Erika. Both provided excellent services and great cuts. They really put in the time, effort and advice. Loved the salon. However, the online-only booking experience is less than ideal. Maybe it's true that the entire salon is booked up 3 months out? Can't say. Tried booking online, using the appointment bot, and leaving a message to inquire further, but got nowhere. Given that it's April 21st, and next available appointment seems to be in mid July, unfortunately looks like I will have to pursue other options. read more

I called to make an appointment and I was told that new clients should get the The Luxury Signature Service ($395-570 depending on stylist) as this would include complete color and cut consultation & design "and just takes so much longer because it's a first appointment (exact words of person booking appointment). I was instructed to send several photos of my hair from different angles as this would allow the stylist to do pre-review. I got to the salon and the stylist had not reviewed the photos and she said, "oh I didn't see the photos, that's ok, we can do the consult now". It was like any other consult at every other salon I've ever been to and I came out with the same color and cut, refreshed. The stylist told me that she depends on tips to live. At a final bill over $600 including tip, I'm still wondering why I drank the Koolaid...I am giving 3 stars: very nice color & cut, but grossly overpriced & not much in the way of a luxury experience. read more

the salon only books appointments by email or text. so I emailed the salon specifically requesting FULL highlights and a cut. I wanted a stylist who was experienced with my type of hair. they came back to me with an appointment for a friday. i asked if they had availability on a saturday but if not, i would take the appointment on friday. after some back and forth regarding a concierge service that would prepay them in advance, which appears they just couldn't grasp (a simple concept where all they would need to do is answer the call and accept credit card payment a week early!), they suddenly switched to partial highlights for my appointment. i made it clear in my first email that i wanted full highlights (I have an email thread proving this) but now they can only offer me a weekday appointment another week or two later. this salon has a real lack of customer service and an expectation that customers should accommodate their schedule. there wasn't even an apology for their mistake. it was such a bad impression, felt like i needed to go out of my way to get an appointment and I truly felt like i wasted my energy and time on them. I made an appointment at a high end salon in the city instead, which also books appointments by email, and the customer service was exceptional. you could feel that they valued their clients, unlike The Current Marin. I had an appointment here to get my hair done right before several special events and when I walked in it was jam packed full of people and not one was wearing a mask- like it literally looked like they were having a party in there. I asked to be taken to a space where I could be safer / more protected and was denied any real options. It's fine if not everyone wants to make the same choices but there should at least be a safe option or some sort of warning that they are no longer honoring the masking as they were 5 weeks ago. I expected that it would take her longer which it did- about 90 minutes including the shampoo. I've had a lot of blowouts and it was just okay. The pandemic has made a lot of very important things clearer for me, one of which was that I didn't want to reach the end of my life having never gone platinum. Priorities, right? I've always envied those with icy locks, but each time I've gone for lightening services elsewhere I've ended up with hair that was either pretty, but fried, or flat-out the wrong color. My skin tone is such that I can't pull off a golden blonde and I really need a bright ash, which from previous experience with other stylists, seems like it's not super easy to do. When they were able to, The Current Marin re-scheduled my appointment and of course I took the first one available - it happened to be on July 4! I was so excited to be there. The salon is set up in a safe manner, with making sure you wait in your car until texted to come in so no chance of crossing other clientele.
