Brenda Moretti is the best! she really listens to you and is so friendly! she doesn't judge and will help you figure out what you want! I wouldn't go to anyone else! Also the salon is amazing! they will get you in whenever you need to and are so helpful and kind! I absolutely adore everyone there! This is the best place to go with the best atmosphere and most kind humans. You should definitely check it out! You won't regret it I promise read more

Oh my goodness!! Such a lovely surprise right downtown!! I was a bit early, and chatted with a client outside, as a new client I had a lot of questions. You know a place is great when clients talk about leaving other salons or stylists. Sandy came in, we talked about my hair, what my likes and dislikes are (I actually love my hair), her recommendations and we proceeded with a cut today, and next week is color!! This place is so clean, and the staff is friendly!! My favorite part of a hair day is the wash, you know you've got yourself a killer stylist if you get an amazing head massage with the shampooing!! I did. Thanks to a fellow Yelper Ellie for your great review!! My friend has been a client for many years, but Ellie wrote a review that had me setting an appointment while reading it. read more

You know when you have that friend (or two) who have incredible hair? Like you're anywhere and they just look great? I have two friends who are blessed and finally asked them and they both said Robertson Roe. The first time I went I booked online which was simple and worked with my schedule, now I usually book when I leave because it's easy and super convenient. Also Jamie who is their receptionist is so cool, really engaging and a very genuinely kind person. I see Mia who is talented and a master of all things, also she is really funny. The salon has a great aesthetic . I've been there when every chair is filled and people are getting cuts, colors and all things under the Sun. I've also been the first one there and it's just three people having a conversation about life. Salons are such a vibe, you always leave looking and feeling good. You can talk with anyone and it's just a great place. It's also so nice to be back to a "normal" place in this world after the pandemic. My son also goes here for his cuts and even though he is 14 they treat him as an adult, that is appreciated by him and me. The stylists here are excellent. Trust. The salon is right between LaHa and Rustic, street parking is easy and convenient. Wait. Maybe I shouldn't leave such a good review, then all the appointments will be taken... nah. Give them a call you won't be disappointed. read more

Probably one of the worst hair cuts of my life. I left the salon with wet hair because I told them I didn't like the blow dryer because it made my hair really frizzy. Initially I though I liked it but it was only I got home and saw it dry did I realize how bad it was. I asked for layers and instead got 2 really chunky layers. For $115 this is actually insane read more

Darby is pleasant knowledgeable and very accommodating always. I always look forward to visiting the salon and they offer great Bumble and Bumble Hair products. read more

Let me preface my experience, I rarely treat myself to a professional salon coloring, instead, continually covering my gray roots with an all over box dye every time....So I read some reviews and I called to see if by chance they had someone to "help me" with my bun imprisoned hair. Jaime cheerfully answered and asked a few very important-(common sense in hindsight) hair questions that have never been asked of me before a hair appointment, placed me on a brief hold and returned with the answer to my question...."yes" someone there (Darby) knows just how to deal with my dead/curly/poofy/frizzy/blk/white/unmanageable hair!! The day came, and I was so excited to finally be able to wear my "hair" down, and have it look normal by my standards (hair pyramids aren't my thing) From the moment I walked in I was greeted and chatted with Jaime we got along famously. Then, the angel herself appeared, Darby, I didn't have to explain much. She had the best, most logical suggestions and I knew I would only regret it if I tried playing expert! I was right, she trimmed, layered, highlighted and hydrated the life back into my soulless mane. I can't thank you enough Darby, y'all made my day and my week! Be seeing you on the regular.... read more

I wanted to share a story about Sandy from Robertson Roe. I've been seeing her for about a year and she always does a fantastic job for me. I had an appointment for last Saturday, but because of the blackouts, Sandy called me to reschedule. When she called Monday and we still didn't have power, I thought she was going to have to cancel on me again. Instead, she offered to come in and do my hair with no power so that I could have a fresh cut and color before my wedding on Saturday. She also cut my fiancee's hair after his hair stylist cancelled because of the blackouts. Not only does she consistently do a great job with my hair, but her kindness to us both was absolutely tremendous. Thank you Sandy. read more

Worst $150 haircut ever! . Uneven, chopped gaps around my face. Fraid ends that looked like it was cut with a straight edge razor! Ended up going to another salon to get it cleaned up. It was a hot mess! read more

I just Yvonne a few days ago after my mom recommended her. I love my hair color. She did just what I asked for. She's also very friendly and easy to talk to. Thanks Yvonne! read more

Yes, they keep you waiting, and they will cut another client's hair as your color is setting but they never rush you or just 'robot' through the appointment. By 'robot' I mean do exactly as their told as if YOU are a hair professional...most people are not and need to have their requests interpreted. Mia did my hair for years (she also does my mother's) and I did go to a fresh-outta-beauty-school stylist for a short while, but I came running back to Mia. Several times she has talked me out of doing something expensive because my hair cut still looked fresh or my color still looked great. I trust her and she is worth the drive from SF! **Notice the two bad reviews are from Men...they should go to the barber shop; no waiting! read more

Got a hair cut from this place several years ago with my sister. We were both very disappointed and never went back. My mom recently got a cut from here, and it was the worst haircut of her life. This place does not take one's hair texture, volume, facial shape and features into consideration when giving a hair cut. The length, layering and styling were all wrong. Also, they do not seem professional/skilled at all. They appear slow and unsure of what they are doing. Very disappointed again. Waste of money. read more

I've been going to see Mia for years and always walk out the door feeling like a million bucks! Mia recently gave me the new Bumble and Bumble cut that works great on thick, curly hair like mine. I love how she is always learning new styles and works with me to find the right cut. And I love their Bumble & Bumble products! read more

GOOD: Very clean and professional salon. It's not like some where you walk in and you see a straight row of cutting hair chairs lined up along the sides of the wall facing a mirror. Each chair is paired with a large mirror and posed at an angle, while a wash room, and hair dye chairs are in the back. I was hosted by Danielle, whom did an absolute fabulous job in cutting my hair the way I wanted. We discussed briefly beforehand what was best, and hair types and such. She is also a great conversationalist which made the hair cutting process really enjoyable. She added style, and curls for the finish. She sold me on a HOLD for my short hair which turned out to be a great product! I'll definitely be coming in again for maybe some tail end colors or highlights! Want to try more of what is in store at this salon! BAD: Even when I made an appointment, I had to wait 15 minutes, but the salon were polite and told me there would be a wait which reading the past reviews I had expected. They offered me something to drink twice, which I thought was really nice, showing they value their customers. read more

Love this salon. All of the ladies are so nice and very professional. Sandi has been doing my hair for a few years and she is fantastic. She's not only great at what she does, but she is a kind and caring person who makes you feel comfortable right away. She does my hair exactly how I ask, and she is also a great help when I'm undecided. I come in and relax, sip on some tea while she does her magic, and I'm always happy with the end results. The salon is clean and beautiful with a quiet relaxed vibe. I always enjoy coming here. read more

There are lots of things I will forgive. Keeping me waiting when I have an appointment with you (and I'm the one doing the paying) is not one of them. In a restaurant, I can understand if things get backed up. A few parties linger too long over coffee and you've got a problem. But a hair salon should know how long a procedure takes and schedule their day accordingly. If clients are late, and it is causing delays, you CALL your later clients and inform them that you're a little behind. Robertson/Roe doesn't do that. They greet you, offer a beverage and point you to a seat. Then -- at least today -- they let you sit there for 15 minutes until your stylist comes by and says she'll "be with you soon." Then you wait another 15 minutes until you've reached the point where you don't have time to get your haircut and make your date for the evening. And instead of looking sharp and well-coiffed for your night out, you look shaggy and unkempt. And you've wasted an hour of your life. (30 minutes of drive time, 30 minutes of wait time.) Especially when you rushed out of a meeting so you wouldn't be late for THEM. It is INCREDIBLY disrespectful. So save yourself being dissed by the crew at R/R and try somewhere else. I know I am. read more

It's just alright. I used to love this place. The service was excellent and I always loved my style. Over the years, I feel there has been a slow but constant decline which is really sad because I've truly enjoyed this place.. It's very difficult to get an appointment and the stylist are often running very behind. The new-ish receptionist leaves much to be desired. She begins apologizing that she's not going to be able to accommodate me before I've even said what service I want. It took 3 phone calls to get an appointment for color and I had to book a different appointment to get a cut. Then I got a call the day of saying the stylist couldn't accommodate me that day. No thank you. I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

It was a big decision. Cutting my long, curly and very thick hair. Danielle listened to my concerns and did just exactly what I knew I wanted! She also took care of donating my ponytails to an appropriate organization. Salon was comfy and cozy and bustling with clients. I'll be back! read more

I've had my hair styled and cut by Yvonne several times, and each time I am sooo happy with the results! She does a great job, the salon is decorated nicely and I enjoy myself every time I go in. I referred my sister, she went and got a great hair cut, and a few weeks later I received a $15 off my next cut in appreciation for the referral, which was awesome! I don't think they charge as much as some of the other local higher end salons, but I really think they do a better job. read more

Mia has been trimming my locks for almost 20 years starting at Crimpers the Salon at Northgate Mall. The cut frames my face, is easy to maintain and I receive many compliments on the style. Danielle is fantastic! She does a great job with my highlights and with my cut. She always does exactly what I request. I like my hair long and with Danielle I never have to worry that I'll ask for a trim and look down to see three inches of my hair on the floor. She also does a great job cutting my boyfriends hair. She is able to cut his hair short enough to make him happy but not so short that I hate it; not an easy job. She is also really sweet. I always look forward to seeing her. read more

I have been going to Sandi since March and love being her client. She has tamed my crazy mane and made it wonderful. I have very thick, 100% gray hair that Sandi cuts and colors. Sandi listened to what I didn't like about my hair and offered some very smart solutions that really look beautiful. ..... and Sandi is a great person too! Also, I love seeing Sarah's smiling face when I come in and she always helps me with my difficult schedule to find an appointment. .... Just love it here! read more

If you are looking to get a hair cut in Novato you have lots of choices. If you are looking to get a fine haircut in a stylish salon for a fair price, check out Robertson/Roe. Sandi Roe and Mia Robertson have joined forces and opened a fabulous full service hair salon on Grant. Parking is excellent - I've always found a spot right in front of the shop. They carry a full line of Bumble and Bumble products. Most importantly, they listen to what you want and then deliver - I LOVE my haircut!!!! So excited they are in town, just had to share the news. read more

Wonderful salon: clean, charges fair prices, and is professionally run. One Yelp reviewer was complaining about them running behind on appointments, but every salon has that problem at certain times on certain days. The only time I ever had to wait for an appointment was on a Saturday afternoon; otherwise, they're on time. And frankly, this salon's staff are so good, it's worth the wait. Danielle is the one I go to. She has lots of fans on Yelp, and for good reason: She really listens to your needs, wants, and concerns; does a wonderful job of explaining; uses tact when making suggestions that she's not sure her client will like; always tries to please the client; exhibits great technical skills; and is a great conversationalist. What more could one ask for? read more

This beautiful salon just got a new stylist named Danielle and she is amazing. I went in with black and red hair and she did the most amazing color and did not damage anything. I would recommend her to everyone! read more

I love coming here! Yvonne is such a great stylist, she always cuts my hair exactly how I want it and does a beautiful blow out too. The salon was clean and the robe to prevent hair clippings from getting in your clothes was a great touch. I got a lovely haircut that is easy to take care of and looks great whether I blow-dry or air dry. I have very light, fine textured natural blonde hair and a wicked cowlick. My stylist did a great job with it something few do! I just wish she had given me her card or planned to rebook! I will be back before I move out of the area and will miss the salon! read more

I simply love this salon! It's so trendy and fun to go to! Yvonne is my hairdresser and she does a fantastic job. All of my girlfriends go to Yvonne and we can't wait for our appointments. You know that feeling when you have fresh cut ends? I swear it lasts weeks and weeks when she cuts my hair. She's done several cuts for me and a highlight - all of which grew out nicely and styled great! Sometimes they have goodies to eat and drink while you wait. It's a great place!! read more

Just got my hair cut by Chelsea at Robertson Roe Salon and had a wonderful experience! I knew the general cut I wanted but Chelsea offered lots of additional suggestions and it turned out great! The salon is in a great location in downtown Novato and has a nice chill vibe. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

I have been going to Robertson Roe Salon and seeing Yvonne for about 4 or 5 years now. I have gotten both cut and color. I love this place and Yvonne is awesome! I recommend her to people whenever I get a chance. I'm constantly complimented on my hair cut and color and every single time I leave loving my hair. She is an awesome stylist! I can just give her the slightest, vaguest idea of what I want and she will turn it into something better than I even imagined. This is the longest I have ever gone to the same salon and to the same stylist. As long as I live in the area I definitely won't go anywhere else. The rest of the staff at the salon is also very friendly. It is always clean and there's always snacks and magazines. I highly recommend Robertson Roe Salon. read more

From the moment you enter the door, your experience is a positive one, with a friendly, efficient front desk receptionist and a warm welcome from the whole staff. Professional, clean, and with a busy yet not noisy buzz, it is easy to feel comfortable here. Yvonne does a great job with color and cut. I am sold! Thank you! read more

I have come to this salon a few times saw two young lady stylist. I Love the way they have styled my hair very friendly and informative. The salon was clean and welcoming the receptionist was very kind and brought me a beverage of my choice. The only negative I had was when a obvious owner was speaking very rude and badly about an employee and past employee with her client. I tried to tune her out but was appalled by what she was doing with her client. It made me feel very uneasy and glad I wasn't her client. Over all the salon is wonderful!!,!!,!,!, I will return again. read more

The haircut was not precise even though it was a very simple, straight bob. The color was even worse. I asked for all the grey to be covered. There was no effort made to do so. They just put on the color from a squeeze bottle. They did not try to comb it through or get to the roots. They make a show of consulting with each other about the color. I could have done without it and preferred they did a good job, which they did not. Will not come back. read more

It's a shame really. The interior of the salon looks promising, It's nice, great use of space, fancy interior decor. The stylists are usually very nice and chipper. I love my stylist, Danielle. She's a sweet as can be and the closest to my age so we can chat about similar things. My problem is that the only 2 times I've been in there they have screwed up on my hair coloring. I bring in pictures of what I want, articulate it as best a possible and give directions as we go. And what I ask for isn't anything out of the ordinary mind you. Just a layered look with some highlights or a little color. They have had me sit in there as they redo their error and run around to the next customer for 6 hours each visit! That's a whole Saturday gone! And the end result is not what I had wanted each time. And on top of all that they charged me without a wink, without an apologetic, "I won't charge you for the highlights", NOTHING! Didn't even ask how my hair is or if I liked it. The owner, a blonde older lady is an incompetent and haughty old bag who thinks she knows what she's talking about but clearly doesn't. Her demeanor is fake and presumptuous at best. She has a few one liners that she throws out to each client as they sit in her chair. And believe me, the time I spent in there I saw at least 3-4 clients be turned over. Each time I've been in I've booked a first appt at 9 and each time she has strolled in past 9:30AM. Highly unprofessional. If you don't care about your customer than why open a business? I'm probably mostly kicking myself for giving them a second shot. They are 1 of many salons on that block whom I'm now happy to give my business to elsewhere. If you have a whole day to waste, the patience of mother Teresa, and don't mind paying full price for their error, than this is the salon. If not, don't even chance it, walk a few blocks down and you'll find better. This has been my experience not once, but twice! Learn from me. Eat at the Rustic Bakery next door and move on. read more

rude on the phone. right away that tells me something...it's called courtesy? but maybe you'll have better luck!

A really bad experience. They do not honor their appointments and their work is poor. There are many much better shops in the area. In speaking with a women who was on her way out, she said "Never again". I agree!!! Don't say you haven't been warned. read more

Mia and Sandi are simply the best! They have been coloring and cutting my hair for years, back when they were Crimpers, and I couldn't be happier with what they do. I come out feeling like a rock star each and every time. I actually met my husband there!!! The salon is beautiful...Where else can you go and sip cucumber flavored water, eat yummy madeline cookies, and watch T.V. on a huge flat screen while your color processes. Not to mention they carry the entire Bumble and Bumble line! Call ASAP and book an apt, your hair will love you for it! read more

I've been going to Mia for over a year and a half. She has a great personality...and really, really pays attention to my hair. She takes time with me and makes sure I'm happy. She really looks at my hair, the texture, the way it falls, etc., and looks at my face...to make sure she is giving me a GREAT cut for ME. Also, yes...I have waited a few minutes sometimes for my hair to get shampooed, but you know what? It never bothers me a bit, because I know that the person before me might be getting a little extra attention, and my experience has proven that I won't be rushed, either. The atmosphere is so nice that I don't mind waiting 5 extra minutes for my stylist to get to me, anyway. Finally...the whole staff is just extra, extra nice. A little while ago, I had to cancel at the very last minute. I called and left a v.m. saying I was sick and couldn't come in. Imagine my surprise when I received a get-well card in the mail a few days later from everyone there! THAT is the kind of PERSONAL attention you get at Robertson Roe! read more
