I am so pleased I tried out this salon! Tired of paying 200 dollars per hair cut in different salons and never getting what I asked for, I thought I would try Precision as so many peolple were recommending Doug.30 dollars for womens hair and I have long hair. I was worried that the haircut would be reflective of the price.The salon itself is bare bones but carried a calming earthy energy and Doug was as grounded as Buddha himself.I loved how he listens to what I wanted and checked in with me quite a bit. He have me such a well shaped and expertly cut, current hairstyle! My hair was swinging and I sashayed out of there! I went in for a hair cut, first time. I have an interview coming up so I gently asked Duc to be extra attentive. He was kind, friendly and accommodating. I got home and had long hairs hanging out from under what was supposed to be a professional and sassy angled bob with lots of movement. It was also top heavy. I provided a picture. Rather than turn to yelp, I went back and gently asked if he could make my bob more angled and clean up the back, and well that backfired. I was shunned and quieted by non responsiveness to my attempts to generate appreciation, understanding and a good working relationship instead of turning to yelp immediately. The hair cut turned out well in the end, but that kind of treatment on feedback is unacceptable. read more

I got a haircut here and it was done in under five minutes and I had long thick blonde hair. I showed Duc several pictures and he didn't do anything close to any of them. My previous review was erased somehow. Where do all these fabulous reviews come from??? I wonder. He cut my hair straight across the bottom in the back like it was a flat mop. He never cut my hair from the sides he never parted my hair, he never went back to check if it was even. It looked really really bad and I had to go to another salon to get it fixed. It was too short too. I really hated it. He wet my hair and made it look okay when I was leaving but after washing and drying at home and looking in my bathroom mirror I was shocked and upset about the poor no effort, rush job. I will never come back to this dirty salon with incompetent and careless hairstylists who obviously don't care about their craft or customers. read more

After my last haircut in 2019, I decided to let my hair grow just for the heck of it. After reaching shoulder length, & deciding I'd not want fiddle around with long hair anymore, I had it cut in August, 2023 by someone I'd been going to for many years. Obviously, not adhering to my instructions, she virtually had my hair down to ~1/4" everywhere. After it grew out, I went to another place, and with the same instructions, but had a duplicate scalping like before. Today I went to Precision, where I was attended to by Sherry. I'm bald on top, & I explained how I wanted it ~1/2 inch at the top, then tapered down to a hairline. It ended up perfect, so this is now my go-to haircut place. read more

Horrible experience. I had long hair past my bottom. I was real hesitant to get my haircut just anywhere. I was looking into other hair salons but I didn't have time to make an appointment. I remember the man who worked here trimmed my hair when we were coming out if covid. He did a decent job so I made a same day appointment. It was with the woman stylist. When I got there she asked how much I wanted. I told her I wanted 3 to 4 inches and a face framing cut around face. I wasnt sure about her as I had the guy do my hair previously. She sat in a chair behind me.I wasn't sure what was going on. She never parted my hair once like every other time anyone has cut or trimmed my hair. She then brushed my hair in front of face trimmed two pieces on the very top of my bangs. That was it no trimming or parting ever. It was over so fast. The man was already sweeping up my hair it looked like alot but he left. I wasn't able to really see it. She seemed really rushed and another woman came in. I believe she squeezed me in and rushed it. I got home and almost cried. My hair was to the upper middle of myback the under part of my hair was even shorter. It looked chopped and was so uneven. Two pieces were cut at the top of my hair it was so short it looked ridiculous.It was not blended or cut at all around my face. I sent a message but never heard back. I was devastated. Its so short I can't get it fixed until it grows out. It would be up to my shoulders. My hair was past my bottom. I would not recommend going here. It was one of the worst cuts i ever had. read more

This was my first time visiting this salon and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. Duk was my stylist. He listened to what I wanted. Really listened. I had very challenging hair as I had regrowth coming back in so it was many different lengths. I also asked him, even though I had only scheduled a haircut, if he could fit me in for highlights and lowlights. He said it was "no problem!" HE was busy but he managed to keep me and his other customers satisfied. I cannot speak for them of course but everyone looked happy. I walked away with exactly what I had asked for and the best surprise of all was when I went to pay. That is the cheapest haircut, high and low light and blow out and style that I have had in years!!! I will be back! I've been VERY careful during the pandemic, and I was in desperate need of good haircut. With Marin now in the red, I called Duc to see if he had any appointments available on a Saturday late afternoon. YES! I drove over in 15 minutes to find the salon empty. There was lots of room to breathe, so to speak. I kept my mask and sunglasses on while double-masked Duc cut my hair dry and I was out in about a half an hour. Wham bam and the remnants of the DIY, YouTube tutorial pandemic haircut (about 6 months ago) are GONE! Yay! My hair has style and Duc cut off a boatload of damaged ends - I'm VERY happy! I feel almost normal! Next time I think I'll get a color and cut (the warm and affable Duc gives discounts for multiple services). Precision, like most Marin businesses, needs your business! Five stars really isn't enough for Duc at Precision Salon. My 14 year-old daughter has an undercut and finding someone with both the barber skills for the buzz and long-hair skills for the rest was a serious challenge. Not only did Duc master it on his first attempt, but she's consistently in and out in about 20 minutes for $25! My fiance, who had been reluctant to go to Duc since he thought his preferred salon did the best job on his cut, was floored when he went in the other day and Duc did an even better job for half the price. We are so grateful for this gem of a shop (normally walk-in, though by appointment during COVID) and Duc's decades-long presence in the neighborhood. Duc (the owner) is very detailed and pays attention to what kind of haircut looks best for my hair texture and face shape. Him and his associate (not wife), Sherry are both very personable and easy to talk to. I only had to wait 10min on a Monday afternoon for a walk-in. I get very scared to try new hair cut places but Duc was patient with my questions and I was VERY happy walking out with my fresh hair! If you want skill, kindness, and value this is the place for you to get your hair done. It's not a shi-shi salon, it's not on the 'it' block with all the cute little boutiques. It's a really nice, good-feeling, (recently renovated) space. Duc is a skilled hair dresser, who actually listens and give you what you asked for! He gave me an entirely new cut, new high-lights and low-lights all at a reasonable price. (I feel like I've been overcharged for my hair my whole life.) Duc and Sherry have been at this location for 20 years, they have two sons, and even though this was my first time at the salon I instantly got the feeling of connectedness to the neighborhood. Folks stroll in and say 'hi' and you can tell they feel right at home, Duc and Sherry made a comfortable and welcoming space here for sure. I love, love my hair cut/color and plan on this being my salon as long as I live close by. Duc took my appointment over the phone and listened to what I wanted and explained what he could do. I loved his ideas, he didn't rush me. When I arrived he was expecting me, and listened again to my ideas for what I wanted. He understood and repeated it back - keep in mind I was changing both my color and my cut -- so it was more than just a trim. I plan on bringing my husband and my son for their haircuts here as well. I highly recommend this salon! If you are looking for your dollars to go into the cut/color and not into the tea and scalp massage (though actually Duc did offer me tea, and took his time with my wash :) then you will not be disappointed. Duc didn't do a blow out with the roller brush to make me look perfect when I left, I don't think he usually does, so ask in advance if you want to be styled.
