I was charged $175 for the guy to tell me my alternator is bad. The alternator in the vehicle is less than 3 months old. He didn't look at a single potential underlying cause such as wiring/grounding, serpentine belt, nothing. Less than 5 minutes. Pay me. End of story. Don't trust this guy to do anything more than a quick look for a simple solution. Do more research. You'll find options more reputable and at half the cost of this rip-off who only showed up to make a quick buck. Shame on him. read more

Great service and fair price. My car wouldn't start on a Saturday. Most auto repair shops were closed and the one shop that I found open wanted me to pay 150 just to look at the car and find my own towing company (their website said they had towing services available). And said they wouldn't be able to do any repairs until at least Tuesday. Then I called James. What a difference. He was professional on the phone and came out that day. He found I needed battery, went out to pick up the battery, then worked by flashlight to finish the repair. His labor charge was reasonable and he showed me the bill from for the battery, so I could see he wasn't padding charges. And I avoided towing fees. James was truly wonderful. He ensured the new battery had a good warrantee and took steps to maximize the life of battery. Will definitely call James again if needed! read more

My car hadn't been driven for 4 months. The battery needed a jump every time I started the car, then it began shutting off completely when put into reverse or drive. I didn't need to drive my car anywhere, so I didn't bother getting it repaired. Fast forward from early January to the end of April, and I was now in desperate need of my car. We knew the alternator was shot and that the battery needed replacement. Local body shops quoted some pretty steep prices and weren't sure when they could get to it. Our neighbors referred us to James Mobile Auto Repair. He was able to come out to our house the following day, and confirmed it was the battery and alternator. The check engine light came on recently and the car is running rough at start up and hesitates until it warms up. Also needs low beam bulbs replaced. Since my normal mechanic moved many miles away I didnt want to drive all that distance with a check engine light on and thought a mobile mechanic would be perfect. I read how most will come to you and even do roadside repairs if you're stranded... James obviously comes highly recommended online so I sent a service request through the website on Monday. I did not get a response and sent a direct email from the email link on his website and did not get a response. I did say I could get out of work early if he had time, or my next day off was this past Thursday. I thought perhaps he would get back to me by Thursday. Friday I called early and left a message just before his business hours hoping I could get a response early and get this car fixed but its now going on 4pm and again no one ever followed up, even to say we can't help you or we're booked solid. I'm an older guy alone in Vancouver & my car is my only method of transportation and like everyone else I need my car fixed soon. Especially with the cold weather setting in and I feel really let down by this business. Ok, my immediate family has been using James for over thirty years. Every single time we used him we have had great, convenient, quick service at a very good price. I just had James take a look at what I though was a huge problem on my truck. He took a look, fixed what turned out to be a really simple problem, and it didn't hardly cost me anything at all. He didn't give me a special rate. He just gave me good service (it only took him less than 30 minutes to complete). The price was much less than I would have paid at most other shops, and he came to my work and did it. I didn't have to leave work and leave my vehicle at a shop to get it fixed. So convenient. I've actually referred James to my friends and other family over the years, and have nothing but good reports back. I honestly discovered the most life saving service for us mamas. Car troubles are the worst and it's awful having to wait at a mechanics with kids needing naps etc. He's an amazing and honest mechanic who comes to your home and does all the work there.
