Ive been going to Dr Everhart now for over 20 years. For 10 of those years he has had the same assistant Gary. I told them at a recent visit that I could not think of a better team rooting around in my mouth fixing my teeth. I do not have the greatest teeth in the world but they have never badgered me about it. They always treat me with respect and laugh at my jokes. Their professionalism at their work is bar none the best. Even after extensive procedures I have never suffered extensive pain. I leave mentally and physically feeling better about myself then when I arrive. Everyone on staff knows me and my family on a first name basis. They inquire about my family at every visit and remember what my kids were up to...its like having extra members of your family! That alone elevates the comfort level a lot. I highly recommend Everhart DDS. read more

Upsetting I even have to give his office 1 star. He way over recommends procedures, while trying to secure business for his sons dental practice. His office staff, Mercedes and Gale, are two of the most incompetent people I have ever encountered. When I started to ask questions about doing (and charging) a deep cleaning one week after receiving a deep cleaning g, they back peddled and said while another deep cleaning is needed, their primary concern were two root canals, that had never ever been noted before. When asked to release the dental records, they refused, said Dr. Everhart handles all the emails. We still haven't received confirmation on what was all done. They take unprofessional behavior to the next level. read more

I had a broken wisdom tooth, was in considerable pain. My wife made the appointment and the exam was quick, setting me up for extraction fast. I came in receptionist was personable and explained everything very well. The procedure was fast and painless , Gary and the DR worked very well together had great stories to share. It's now the day after and the pain is gone!. I couldn't be more thrilled with finding this office, I like them all very much. read more

Dr. EVERHART has been my dentist, the savior of my Smile for over 30 years... He fixed my front teeth after a car accident in the 1980's and again at the Holidsys this past year. He and his staff are amazing! Caring, compassionate and a available in emergencies. I love Dr. Everhart and all of their staff. He has a bad rap on here. He always discussed my options with me. Advised me of the consequences of not moving forward with what procedures he recommends, and advises of the procedures that can wait a little bit. He is HALF of the price of all of the dentists I went to before him, so I don't know what other Yelpers think the cost of dentistry is. Gail is a nice down to earth normal person who is up for a chat if you have time before and after appointments. Gary is phenomenal! So friendly and funny! I have used 4 of their hygienists and every one was professional and tuned in to if my teeth were sensitive. The ROOT CANAL I had to have done... I booked my appointment and expected it to be the most painful thing I ever experienced. Dr. Everhart used so much Novocaine I felt pressure and that was it. He uses photo technology to show you cavities so you don't just have to take his word for it like every other dentist I have been to. The dentist I was at before him told me I had 6 cavities and it turned out 3 of them were stains that came off with a little teeth whitening. Give him a shot! read more

My husband and I were abandoned by our previous dentist in Orangevale. No notice and no call. Nothing. We were recommended by a coworker to this dentist, James Everhart. I will be the first to say I am an utter mess when going to the dentist. These guys have ALWAYS put me at ease and jokes about to make me comfortable. Any work that needed to be done was always explained to me along with an estimate. Never had any issues with anyone there. My husband and I would recommend him in a heartbeat. read more

I've been a patient for a couple of years now. Can not say enough good things about the people there. Doc, Gary, Gail, Melinda are awesome. I actually look forward to my appointments. I had several old fillings (some from when I was in the military) that needed to be replaced, a permanent bridge made to replace one tooth, thorough cleaning, etc. They prioritized everything I needed - from replacing old/damaged fillings to fitting a permanent bridge, scheduling cleanings. Doc always calls me in the evening to see how I feel, if I need anything from him, even after even a minor procedure. I could not be more pleased and I highly recommend Dr. Everhart and his staff. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Everhart for a couple of years. The 1st time I went, the Dr. proposed "maintenance" work that he said was necessary, specifically several fillings to fill in my teeth's "natural pits and grooves", but that I had "no cavities". I put it off. At my next visit, the hygienist wanted to schedule the fillings. She stressed they were cavities and could turn into needing root canals at any time! (So, now the "maintenance" have turned into cavities?) I believed her and feared what she said would happen, so I had it done. At my next appointment, the Dr. performed the annual exam and proposed more fillings needed asap. I was shocked, I never had this much trouble with my teeth in my life and realized I needed an independent 2nd opinion. I signed up at a new dental office and the new dentist said I had no problems whatsoever. I recommend avoiding this dentist. read more

3 months after my last visit I recieved a bill for an entire set of x-rays, which were not covered by my insurance, because it was too soon and completely unnecessary. This office oversells their services; $20 "medicated" toothpaste, "deep" cleanings; all unnecessary while Dr. Everhart brags about his vineyard in your face with severe coffee breath. Just because I chose a better dental office, they had to get greedy, and find something extra to bill me. Bah-bye. Instead of billing me extra, Dr. Everhart should have fired his argumentative office staff who tried to withhold my records from my new office. read more

So, let's talk. I picked this dentist because I pass by it a few days a week and he has such a nice smile in his photo. I'm a really nice lady with huge heart, and I'm honest. I'll gladly admit when I'm wrong. I made an appointment to be a first time patient on July 4th. I was going to leave a message but Gary answered and we made it for the following week. On 6/27 I got hurt at work and fractured a bone in my foot and severely sprained my ankle. On the day of the appointment I overslept because I was forced to take pain meds around 4:00 a.m. When I called an hour or so after my appointment time Gail answered & sounded very put out and I explained why! A new appointment was set for Thursday 7/12 but here again I was forced to reschedule. I could not leave work and I called at 10:00 a.m.; my appointment was set for 12:30. Gary answered and again I explained and he said Gail would call me back. When I did not hear from her for over two hours I called again. Oh. My. Gosh. She sounded like I committed a homicide! Again! I thoroughly explained and when she said, in a very chastising voice that this would be my last chance I interrupted her and told her I'll look for someone who can be more understanding and flexible & hung up. I ended up driving by an hour later and the parking lot was practically empty. Yes, I messed up the first time and it wasn't my fault the second time, but come on! With the plethora of dentists in the area one would think they'd welcome new business! And we are double insured guaranteeing they'd be easily paid! Isn't the purpose of being in business to be successful? Having someone like her who treats people that way is bad business! Shame shame read more

Dr. Everhart has a revolving door when it comes to the front desk. This leads to confusion concerning your care. Before he fired the latest front desk workers, he had a treatment plan for me. I also had a credit. Funny, with the new woman he brought in, all that disappeared. Suddenly I owed him and he wanted $3,000 for a treatment that was to be a fraction of that cost. Because I wouldn't pay the amount he now said I owed, he sent it to collections and has left me with out a tooth - my top front tooth! He refused to keep his side of the agreement. I have been extremely afraid of Dentists since I was a child. They had to tranqualize me to get me in the front door. I thought I had found a kind, funny, gentle Dentist. I was so wrong. Please! Do not get sucked in by his fake charm. It will cost you more than your money. I am ashamed of the way I look. I'm so afraid to trust another Dentist. Advice, check out your Dentist. Research. Don't be taken in by a fake smile from the "Gentle Dentist on the Corner"!!! read more

I have never had any issues with Dr. Everhart or his staff. He is very professional and his staff has always been kind and caring to me. I do not like going to the dentist, but Dr. Everhart knows how to keep me calm. read more

Was nice at first but left a needle in my gum and didn't tell me till he was done working and I was walking out the door. Now I have to have a scan every year to see if it's moved and to top it off he tried to bill me $300 bucks for that nice piece of metal! read more

He and his dental staff are fun to be with and seem to do an adequate job, BUT he will recommend about ten different things needed (can easily do in a one hour visit, according to him) that uses up an entire year's worth of dental insurance. He's proposing $1500. worth in January and I have no cavities, just 'maintenance" as he describes it. He also makes sure there are overages that you must also pay beyond what the insurance will cover. No thank you. read more

Good guy, great dentist. Took me in with an urgency issue after my prior dr had abruptly closed shop. Good care -- actually called me himself to check on how I was doing. Ran into a dispute over his bill but he graciously gave in. I'd've given five stars but he's a dentist, no dentist should ever get five. read more
