I came to this office specifically looking for a cosmetic dentist because I was very concerned…read moreabout the appearance of my teeth. During my initial consultation, Dr. Collins repeatedly asked why I was there if I already had a dentist. I explained multiple times that I wanted someone focused on cosmetic work because aesthetics were important to me, but she continued questioning me in a way that felt dismissive and strange. Unfortunately, the actual dental work reflected the same experience. I had bonding done, and one tooth was shaped incorrectly and angled downward instead of following the natural upward curve of a smile. The other bonded tooth had a rough surface texture that didn't feel properly finished. I also had a crown done, and when the permanent crown came back, the shade was dramatically darker than my surrounding teeth. It was noticeable enough that I immediately raised concerns. Since I had already waited the standard two weeks in a temporary crown, I asked whether the remake could be expedited. I was told yes, but that didn't happen. It has now been about a month in a temporary crown for what should have been a two-week process. What was most frustrating was the response to my concerns. When I explained that my bite felt off and I could no longer properly bring my top and bottom teeth together to bite things normally, Dr. Collins dismissed it and told me that I "shouldn't need to do that." Regardless of the example I used, the point was that my bite no longer felt functional or natural. Instead of feeling heard, I felt brushed off. At this point, the experience has been disappointing both cosmetically and professionally. I'm updating this review after today's appointment depending on whether the replacement crown is finally correct. ***Updating my review after today's appointment because the situation became significantly worse. First, I realized after arriving that I had accidentally written the wrong dentist's name in my original review. The dentist I actually saw was Dr. Collins. When I noticed her name on her jacket, I clarified that I wanted to correct the review so the right provider was identified. She asked if I had a good experience, and I honestly told her no. She then asked what my experience was, and I offered to show her the written review on my phone since I had already documented everything in detail. Her response was, "Oh wow, I'm not reading all that." Then she asked me again to explain my experience verbally after dismissing what I had already prepared. After that, I laid back in the chair and she started tugging on my temporary crown for quite a while. Before this, they had already shown me the replacement crown and had me compare the color against my teeth. I said it looked okay to me and asked for her professional opinion since she is the dentist. She agreed it looked fine. Then suddenly, after already handling my tooth, she asked, "Are you sure you want me to put this crown on?" I was completely confused because I had taken time off work, confirmed earlier that morning that the crown was ready, and drove out there specifically for this appointment after already waiting a month in a temporary crown that was only supposed to be on for about two weeks. At that point she said she was refusing to place the crown. I became frustrated and did raise my voice and curse, because I genuinely could not understand why I was being denied treatment after everything that had already happened. We went to the front desk area where I began recording the interaction for my records. During the conversation, Dr. Collins reached toward my phone and stopped the recording. I was initially told they would still complete the procedure, so I sat back down and waited again. About 10 minutes later, another staff member came in and informed me that Dr. Collins refused to do the crown placement and that I needed to leave. The front desk employee explained that because the service was never completed, they would not bill my insurance and would stop the claim from processing. I also requested written documentation of what occurred for my records. What bothered me most was that even after refusing treatment, Dr. Collins came back over while I was speaking privately with the front desk employee and said, "It's not my fault your tooth came out a different shade." At that point I explained that the shade mismatch was only one of several issues I experienced throughout this process. So now I am left with a temporary crown that has been in place for about a month, after it was already tugged and loosened during this visit, and I now have to figure out how to start over and find another dentist to complete the work properly. The only positive part of this experience was the front desk staff member who remained patient, calm, and compassionate throughout an extremely stressful situation.

I finally found a place where I am comfortable & feel like my dental care is in good hands. When I first called to make an appointment, I found the front desk staffer to be so helpful. My questions were answered & I was offered reassurance. Interactions have been pleasant. The office is small with a comfortable little waiting area. Music plays in the background. I haven't found myself waiting for long before my appointment times. During my first appointment, I did find the exam space a little chilly. I appreciate the sunglasses, lip balm, & head rest they offer. I saw Dr Phan. She is friendly & her demeanor put me at ease. She is great at communicating & explaining things. She lets me know what is happening & checks in on how I'm doing. She makes sure to address my questions & it doesn't feel rushed. She offered useful suggestions for at home dental care products. I've found the assistants here to be nice, attentive, & helpful. I briefly interacted with Dr Nguyen & found him to be personable as well. The mister decided to switch from his dentist after my experience. During a confirmation call, there was a 15 minute change in the timing of an appointment because of shifts in their schedule.

They pulled a hygienist away from her work at a computer and she cleaned my teeth, but she hadn't known in advance. She did a fine job, but it was odd. What had they planned on doing? I understand that emergencies and unexpected situations arise, but consistently keeping patients waiting well beyond their scheduled appointment times shows a lack of respect for their time. I was also disappointed by a recent interaction regarding my child. After my child chipped a tooth, I contacted the office because I wanted it evaluated. I felt that my concerns were dismissed and that there was pushback about bringing my child in to be seen. As a parent, when a child has a dental injury, I expect my concerns to be taken seriously and for the office to help determine whether an evaluation is appropriate. They brought me in pretty fast. I filled out paper, did a COVID screening then sat down with the dr and went through my teeth history. I let him know about some bluish color around the base of my root canal. We did x-rays and I had a cavity. We made an apt for a filling and he recommended a new crown. I received the quote and was surprised by the pricing. I opted for the filling and skipped the crown. I called my insurance since the crown should have been covered. They said the Dr may have upgraded the crown and that's why it isn't covered. The Dr did my filling himself and he was very quick and the shots were nearly painless. I was shocked how quick he was. After my apt, I asked him If he upgraded my crown because I was surprised by the price. Instead of just saying yes and explaining why, I felt like i was attacked. "He said you need a good crown. You grind your teeth too. I had to file your back tooth down to nearly flat. Normally, I only have to do that two or three times with patients, but yours took a long time. You have no ridges." I was offended. He was talking about the tooth that he just filled, not even the tooth that needed the crown. I've been reluctant to even go back for a cleaning. I finally swapped providers and wont be returning.

Even at 51yrs. old, childhood trauma related to even the simplest of dental visits is an issue, for which I have always relied on having dentists who use some form of sedation for any/all appointments, including cleaning. When my other dentist retired, I followed my family over to Dr. O'Brien...admittedly, I was hesitant, as she does not use sedation. For the first time as long as I can remember, I was able to relax and get through my first appointment with all my anxieties relieved, simply by her energy and level of care. Since then, I have been to several appointments and treatments, all without any form of sedation, and just Novocain for fillings and such. Every experience has been an exceptionally amazing experience, which is something I have never been able to say about anyone/anything related to dentistry in the past. Even her referrals for oral surgery have been to a practice where there has been the same extraordinary care for patients and procedures, for me and family members.
