They don't read charts. I have a severe latex allergy and have made this very clear in my four years as a patient. I went in for X-rays today and immediately felt my mouth burning and my throat getting tight. The techno confirmed the bite was wrapped in latex. I left immediately to get emergency medicine. The office called to tell me that the reaction was not their fault because the gloves are nitrile. This is not a glove issue. This is a known and chart listed allergen being placed in my mouth by one of their rapidly revolving staff. And they refuse to accept accountability. My whole mouth is blistered. My tongue is swollen, and I will be in pain for several days. Mistakes happen, but dodging fault for a preventative injury is inexcusable. read more

I really like Dr Danna and staff. I am treated like a person and he does great work. Today I had a front upper tooth filling and he matched it really well. He is not out to rake me across the coals with big money fixes that are not needed. I got to where I didn't want to go to my last dentist because of these types of issues and dental work that became a problem. So, I wrote a review a couple months ago, but I need to clarify and update. In June, my #18 tooth broke. I had called asap to get an appointment and was not happy about waiting and getting another set of xrays. When I had my first visit in January, I had a complete set of xrays. I called my previous dentist, in June, and got in right away and called Rocklin to get my records. Looking at my records, there was a note to MONITOR #18 because it was cracked. I was NOT told in January the condition of this tooth. All they told me was that I needed scaling & root planing for $1,100, but no mention of the bad tooth. Dr. Tran is a great dentist, I enjoyed going and seeing him. Cleanings are thorough prices are fair. It's a bummer because at the end of the day, I just have to stop trying to going here because they have begun to severely overbook their schedules consistently over the past few years. I only have an hour or so break to go in for an appointment. They ask you to be there 15 minutes early. Though I've had to consistently wait 35 - 45 minutes after my appointment time to be seen, which obviously eats up my entire break window. After having to reschedule 3 times they told me they can't guarantee any appointment times and have no best times to see me as they book what they can and will always prioritize emergencies. Generally speaking I can understand this, so I kept giving them a chance. Though we're at the point where doing the earliest appointments they still can't see you within a reasonable amount of time. If you can wait for 45+ minutes, they quality of care is worth it. If you're have a small time window and can't take a day off for a cleaning - don't come here. read more

Patient of 10 years here! While I have had issues with billing or long waits over the years, I have no complaints with the quality of care I have received. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! I needed a root canal. Dr Justin Wong scheduled me for the procedure. When I arrived I was asked for $263.00 up front. I have duel insurance and for two implants owed $25. I was very concerned about the up front cost and asked to speak to the doctor first. He assured me I the intraorifice barrier was not covered by insurance. I said I don't want anything the insurance won't cover. Though I was in pain he offered to send me away if I did not pay up front. I paid then two weeks later I got the explanation of benefits that showed that is was a covered service. I called and asked for a refund and they refused saying that my secondary insurance needed to pay first. They to date have not billed the secondary. I don't think they are aware that California law protects the elderly from financial abuse. For all that don't know California penalized those that take advantage of the elderly by having them pay three times what they disadvantaged the elderly person. Debbie the manager refused to refund for what is a covered service. I was assured when they took payment they would return my money. If the insurance covered.. I guess at their convenience. The lady who did my x-rays was really professional. The dentist is probably not too experienced, but he was okay. He forgot to match my a very expensive crown. My old dentist always did a color match with me before ordering a crown. The deep cleaning and was the most painful expereince that I ever had at a dental office. They tried to sell me the laser treatment that is useless. I said no but next time I came in they automatically charged me for it and said you have to opt out every time. This place is for money, not customer service. Highly don't recommend. They told me their policy is even if I tell them I don't want the treatment 10 times they will still put it on the invoice every time and I have to opt out. I visited for the first time in 2023, as a new resident for both a broken molar that needed to be pulled, and a basic cleaning provided by my insurance. They told me I had severe gum disease, deep pockets, and needed a more advanced laser planing. I also needed all of my crowns replaced as the teeth were cracked or had pockets underneath. I couldn't quite afford that at the moment, and, I read the review by Erik S on Yelp, and thought "Hmmm...am I being upsold?" This coincided soon thereafter with my need to select my dentist in a new coverage year, so I switched dentists. They did NOT find I needed laser planing, didn't have severe gum disease, needed only a basic cleaning. they agreed ONE crown should be replaced -- certainly not all of them. RMD was upselling me. I have had the worst care by the next to dentist They could care less about my dental health. My teeth cleaning was rushed through. It's just not the same from the front desk to the back. I'll start with positives first. Front office staff were very nice. Everyone was nice actually. Once I got called back, I had x-rays done. Standard things. Dr. Lin came in and was very nice, and measured my gums, checked for cavities etc. He then said someone else would be in to start my cleaning and he would return to finish it. A lady came in and said she was going to polish my teeth. I thought that was odd seeing as though my teeth hadn't even been cleaned yet (but I'm no dentist). She polished the 5-6 teeth you can see when you smile and the rest were not polished in the back. That lasted all of 5 minutes. She did mention she was NEW there. She was nice though. Dr. Lin came back in to clean my teeth. Bought in a tray with all the apparatus and began. After 5 minutes he said "okay you're all good to go!" He didn't floss at all. I've never had a cleaning where flossing wasn't done. He then asked the assistant whether I get fluoride, and she quickly said "No she doesn't." I always get fluoride and it's covered under my insurance. I left feeling like I did not receive a proper care or cleaning and they rushed to get me out. I called to voice my concerns and they scheduled me to come back in October for a proper cleaning with Dr. Ricky Tran. Other than that, I will not be back to this office. read more

New insurance this year and had an appointment for an exam, X-rays, and cleaning in April of this year. I had to wait over 30 minutes past my appointment time to just be taken back for X-rays and then another 30 minutes for the exam. The dentist immediately tried to tell me that I had gum disease and bone loss and should have a deep cleaning to correct it. I told him I would think about it for next time and just wanted a regular cleaning. An hour later I got a 5 minute cleaning and was rushed out. I spent in excess of 2 hours for this 5 minute cleaning. Keep in mind that I go to the dentist twice a year for regular cleanings and X-rays. My gums don't bleed while brushing or flossing, and I have no issues with my mouth. This is the first office to tell me I had gum disease and bone loss and had to have a deep cleaning to correct it. I decide to give them another try as they are the office my insurance assigned me to. I schedule my 6 month cleaning and show up for that appointment in October. I had to wait another 30 minutes past my appointment time to be taken back. The dentist did get to me in a few minutes of going back- so this improved. Then before Dr. Tran even looked at my mouth he started in on how he looked at my records and I need to have that deep cleaning ($1000+) and will continue to have gum disease and bone loss until it's done. I stopped him and asked if he was going to give me my normal cleaning and he said he didn't have time for that and my appointment was only for an exam and to discuss the deep cleaning. I stopped him there and told him I'd free up his time and he did not need to do an exam as I wouldn't be back. Found a new dentist and had an exam and cleaning and no mention of gum disease, bone loss, or the need for a deep cleaning. read more

Read the warnings in the other reviews: this place will try and upsell you unnecessary laser treatments and more expensive cleanings, and assert they cannot provide you a standard cleaning. The big red flag should have been the fact that they have you sign documents without showing you what you are signing, which is likely an illegal practice. I'm quite happy with Rocklin Modern Dentistry. They have very up to date equipment and very friendly, professional, and helpful staff. Dr. Tran really explains things well and listens to my feelings about what would work best for me. The other staff who've handled my cleanings and new partial dentures are equally qualified. The oral surgeon, Dr. Knutsen, made my needed extractions process much less scary than I expected. Perhaps best of all, the staff work directly with my insurance company to be sure I'm paying the correct copays without adding on unexpected fees or unnecessary procedures. I've had such problems with other Dental Offices, but these folks have been a refreshing change. read more

Went in as a new patient today and it did not go well. Waited 35 minutes after my appointment time, finally went to ask how much longer and the receptionist responded, "oh I didn't know you were done with your questionnaire." Cool. After I went to get my x-rays, by a not so friendly gal, the hygienist checked all my gums and let me know I have early periodontal disease, deep pockets, and bone loss. WHAT!!?? I have been to the dentist every 6 months for my whole life and all of a sudden have major issues!? She told me I needed a deep cleaning. I've never even heard of that. (When I googled it, it says it is used for advanced gum disease) As MANY others have stated on here, RMD is all about upselling. Almost $1600 out of pocket, not covered by my very good insurance. I don't think so. My family and I will not be returning here and I hope they change their practice as to not continue to lose patients. Put the patient first, not the profit you can make off people. Today I had the worst dentist experience of my life. I have been coming to RMD for four years and have always been seen by Dr Tran. I had the very unfortunate experience of seeing Dr. Lin. He started out with measuring my gums, my gums are not perfect, but generally pretty healthy, he completely hacked up my gums, gouging his very sharp tool into my gums. It was so painful. I grimaced and winced the entire time, and he never stopped to ask if I am doing ok as if he enjoyed causing pain. I voiced to him that I've never experienced anything so painful during a dental visit. He responded by saying, "I didn't do anything". I said, "you caused so much pain, he said "no I didn't". He then said to me, "do you think you have healthy gums? Not a nice tone. I said, "I don't know why you're asking me that, You were just in my mouth measuring my gums... you are the dentist, what did you see?"Then he said, "well, if you think I'm lying, I'm not." WTF? Lying? About what? Do I think he's lying? I stopped him and said, "I don't like how you're speaking to me you're being very unprofessional and you're speaking to me, in a belittling way, and I don't appreciate it. He said you belittled me first. Again...WTF? I reminded him that I am the patient and you completely destroyed my mouth and because I expressed how much pain he caused, I belittled him? He then went on about how bad my gums were and that I needed a deep cleaning ... I haven't had a cavity in over 10 years ...he said I had to have a deep cleaning. I told him I do not want a deep clean I just want a standard cleaning ...after several minutes of a tense back and forth I told him I don't want him to speak to me anymore. I just want my teeth clean and I want to leave. He continued pressuring me on the deep clean saying they had already provided me a 'courtesy standard' cleaning and that I had to have a deep clean. I refused. I let him know I was seconds from walking out. He finally agreed to do the standard cleaning. The nurse said there is much blood...my gums don't generally bleed, but when they are being sliced up anyone's would. The nurse witnessed the whole situation and was visibly uncomfortable and couldn't believe the interaction. I am writing this review 20 hours after my 'cleaning' and my gums are still in pain. .. I hope I don't have permanent gum damage. NO ONE should ever have to experience this at a dental visit. Ever! In hindsight, I feel like it is an intentional strategy to poke into your gums so hard to make them bleed and over exaggerate the gumline measurement, in a negative way, so they can upsell their deep cleaning... Totally disgusting! BEWARE, not all dentists are created equal, be careful who you let work on your gums and teeth. Dr. Lin is the worst dentist I have ever seen...a total hack! My experience here over all was good, everyone in the back was so nice and made me feel comfortable but the lady at the front desk with red hair was a little rude. I had a few questions because I usually go to a different location and she answered them in a condescending way. I almost felt dumb for asking. When It came down to the questions for payments she got frustrated with me when I put the wrong total but from my experience at Arden they usually walk me through that. My Insurance changed so had to find a new Dentist plus I had to get a crown replaced. They took X-rays and the the dentist did a check on my month. I was told I had 4's5's and a 7 pocket in my gums. They said I needed a deep cleaning which my cost would be 1200.00 after ins. Could not afford this so I wanted a plan cleaning. The dentist did not want to do this because he said it would be inferior work but said he would do it as a courtesy. My appointment was at 1:00 and I was waiting for an hour in the chair. This is a fine enough practice -- very corporate but nice people, no frills. And, the sound system is leftover from the 1970's with tin can speakers in the halls. Sounds like old Muzak and the playlists are always kind of jarring also-ran pop. Surely there are better sound solutions and well researched playlists that are less likely to jangle. Since there are no tv's to watch while in the chair nor headphones or other choices it would be a huge game changer to fix this issue. Right now the rabbit warren of treatment rooms has the ambience of Ross across the street. Doan and Dr. Shanklin are great. read more

My husband had a crown done more than half year ago, they overcharged my husband $660 ( we have insurance but was charged almost like no insurance) and half year later, the manager there still refuse to refund the money even thought her staff has confirmed with my insurance that indeed they need to refund the money back to me. Every time I called them( more than 20 times over the last half year), we've been told that they are still reviewing and will get back to us later. They keep saying refund takes a lot of process before it can refund. Come on, refund does not take more than half year to do. I wish someone who is more responsible can do their job properly and not holding patients money for so long. Very disappointed for how the office manager handling this. read more

I totally agree with the one-star ratings here. Somehow when we signed up for dental insurance last year, we accidentally checked "HMO" instead of our normal PPO. As a result, we weren't able to see our previous dentists that we've gone to all our lives. We found this location on the Cigna website and booked an appointment. The appointment scheduling was smooth and all the employees we came into contact with during our visit were friendly and helpful. But like other reviewers have mentioned, this dental office is located in a very up-and-coming area, sharing the same parking lot with big companies like Studio Movie Grill. I'm guessing the rent there is very expensive. They also have dentist bios printed in color on very thick cardstock, which cannot be cheap. They also give little bags with toothbrushes, floss and toothpaste, and they're all name brand companies like Oral-B, Glide, etc. While I love those brands, I know that using those companies costs an office more money versus using lesser or no-name brands. Since it was our first time here, we were required to do dental x-rays. Now I'm used to the typical x-rays in your mouth, but this dental office went above and beyond all that, and they have this huge machine that x-rays around your HEAD, so that you can see your entire mouth and bones. It's definitely a cool looking x-ray when it's done, but all I could think about was how much that machine must cost....and how much radiation it must be emitting. :( Met the dentist, who was very friendly and engaging. He took measurements of my gums and I heard a bunch of 5's and 6's, which I knew wasn't good. After he was done, my gums were THROBBING. I know usually after dentists take their measurements, it will be a little sensitive, but the throbbing pain showed me that he was pushing way too hard. He then told me that there were "pockets" that would need a deeper cleaning, and that this would allow the gums to hopefully come back up and reattach, etc. He said there was no point in just doing a general cleaning because I needed a "deeper cleaning." And yes, the deeper cleaning would NOT be covered by insurance, but I would have to pay for this out of pocket. And that'd be about $500. Are you kidding me?!?!? Now the weird thing was that my husband had gone to this same dentist a few days earlier and had been told the exact same thing on HIS teeth. What a coincidence that we have the exact same problems that require more money out of pocket, instead of what insurance normally covers---an exam, x-rays and a cleaning. The receptionist then came with print-outs to talk about different costs (all out of pocket, not covered by insurance). All the time, I was thinking, what a scam. They must be pressured by their management to upsell "deep cleanings" as well as more expensive procedures, where they can get more money than normal. We have both taken great care of our teeth and have always gone to our regular dentists consistently. Never have we been told, in grave tones, of how bad our teeth and gums were, and that we had to shell out more money to rescue them. I declined all procedures that they suggested, grabbed the toothbrush kit on the way out and quickly left. When I got to my car, I looked on Yelp and realized yup, my story is just like the 1 star reviews on here. I gave them 2 stars because the people really are nice and parking is awesome there! Oh and they had no clue about the Yelp check-in offer for "1 free electric toothbrush" when we asked them about it. They said they would "Have to order it" (I guess that's a means for them to get you to come back). Beware of the upselling! Avoid this office at all costs. I was told I had "severe periodontal disease" at 28 years old, and they would need to do deep cleanings as well as laser treatments to get me back on track. I didn't go to the dentist for 3-4 years before this visit so I figured sure, why not. After all the treatments, I returned for a cleaning after the initial Covid shutdowns, and was told once again I needed said treatments. At this point I was suspicious. After visiting a new dentist and hygienist in Lincoln, I was told my teeth and gums look great. No "gum disease" and no deep pockets like they kept fear-mongering. This place just wants to rob you blind by scaring you into thinking you have problems in your mouth. What a shame it is that you can't even trust professionals to not sell you something you don't need. I spent almost all of my HSA savings on these treatments, when they weren't needed. Dr. Tran is AMAZING as well as Nadia. I have really awful anxiety and they really calmed me down, told me everything they were doing each step of the way, and just made sure I was comfortable throughout every process. I will never see anybody else except them. I've had past dentists just jab things in my mouth with no explanation and they are the exact opposite of that. I am a college student as well and they worked around MY schedule which was beyond generous of them. You can tell they TRULY care about their patients and really love what they do. Have been going here since 2022. I wish I'd read the other Yelp reviews before I started coming here, because there is certainly a pattern that I read in other reviews that I experienced also. Never once have I went in for a teeth cleaning without the hygienist telling me that some portion of my mouth has severe decay and that I need additional treatments. I started bringing my wife there and let the front office staff know that my wife has cognitive and short term memory issues due to long covid and can sometimes get confused. I let them know I would always be nearby in the shopping center or outside in my vehicle if any issues arose and they were good about contacting me and have me come back in to calm things down. On 04/24/2024 I brought my wife in for another cleaning and when signing in for the appointment we authorized the cleaning and a fluoride treatment. When I got home I found out the bill was almost $500.00 because of additional treatments the hygienist did without myself being consulted. All trust is gone. Upselling is the policy that I have experienced. I went to the Better Business Bureau to leave a review, but they are not BBB accredited. read more

I have been fearful of the dentist for as long as I can remember. It's been almost five years since I've gotten any dental work done and I put it off until I couldn't handle the pain that came along with my cracked tooth. As soon as I got in, though my heart was racing fast, I felt strangely safe and comfortable. When I tell you these dentists and assistants are the most attentive and respectful people ever, I mean it. I am more than satisfied with how my treatment went and they consulted with me before I had a huge payment to make and made sure I made the best decision for my coverage. I always thought the dentist was just an unpleasant experience no matter where you went. Until I found this place. I've never felt more cared for than at this dentist. I've been here for a couple years now and I've had done routine cleanings, fillings, and even a dental implant. The office itself is always spotless and even the bathrooms are always clean. Equipment is up to date. The receptionists are always friendly and helpful. My appointments are right on schedule and if I'm ever kept waiting I'm notified and apologized to. Bethany, the office manager is just wonderful, she's so helpful when it comes to insurance and payments plus she just has a great personality. It's also really easy to book appointments without having to wait months and months to get in. I see Dr. Tran and I feel like he actually cares about me. He listens when I tell him about any of my problems and explains things in a way that's easy to understand. He is very gentle and not aggressive on my mouth at all like some other dentists I've had. He's always asking me if I'm doing okay and comfortable too. The oral surgeon, Dr. Parshan Namiranian, is amazing as well. He did my implant that unfortunately and surprisingly failed. But he redid it and didn't charge me to have it redone either. He answers any questions I have in a great way. He's gentle and through the procedure he tells me step by step what he's doing and checks to make sure I'm okay. I actually don't dread or fear going to the dentist now that I go here. read more

I don't think the one star ratings on here are too harsh. There is plenty of parking here. I scheduled an appointment here to get my bi-yearly cleaning. I moved here from the Bay Area and never had any problems with my teeth. The employees here are extremely friendly and answered all of my questions. When you walk into the office, you can tell that it's very modern and when I went to the back for an exam, I can see that they have the latest and greatest equipment. The dentist insisted that I take new X-rays even though he could get them from my previous dentist. After doing so, I went into the exam room and the dentist proceeded to do an exam. He pulled out the tools and started checking out my dental pockets and while doing so, he called out the numbers to his assistant who typed them into the computer. I've had this exam done before like 8+ years ago and at that time, I needed root planing. After doing so, I've never had to do it again since I switched from a manual toothbrush to a Sonicare toothbrush upon the advice of my old dentist. During the exam, the poking and prodding with the tool was extremely painful and was not mildly uncomfortable, it was downright painful. I had this exam done before as I mentioned above but it never hurt like this. It was just slightly uncomfortable. I felt like he was jabbing the probe deeper to get higher numbers. Weird, here, after the exam, I was told that I needed a deep cleaning (root planing) and when the estimated costs were shared with me, it made me cringe. It would have cost me more than $550 out of pocket. I said that I was just scheduling a routine cleaning but he said that he doesn't recommend it as it would be wasted and I really needed the deep cleaning. I told him that I would look into my schedule and see when I could come back. i wasn't going to come back. I am sure that I don't need the deep cleaning as prescribed. After reading some more Yelp reviews, I see that there are other similar experiences. I'm not sure if EVERYONE will experience this but YMMV. read more

I am a terrible patient. I don't go in for cleanings like I am suppose to and think every dentist is going to scam me. It's not the case here. Dr. Tran and his crew does quality work and I drive from very far to go see him because he has gained my trust through his detail and care. No step is taken without me knowing what is happening. Dr. Tran is effective in his communication and sympathetic to hard cases like myself. At other practices, I have straight up left in the middle of the dental exam because I knew I was being defrauded. Cheers to good work and fair pricing.
