I had two bracelets and about 20 charms I needed to be placed. I was informed that JA only allows a certain amount per day and right now is a busy time because they are having their big two charms get a free bracelet event. I'm a sucker for JA and asked could I get an anklet to which I was reassured I could. After trying a few one, I was ready to check out and the amount wasn't equating to what I had figured I'd be spending that day. So after some back and forth, it was finally determined that the anklet wasn't part of the sale so I politely requested to remove everything. This location is in the NorthPark mall, across from Dillard's. It is spacious and has a showcase for all their different type of goods. Everything from religious pieces, to collegiate, men's and women's jewelery. Rings, chains, charms, earrings, and key chains. I'm not sure if the service is like this every time or if it's just this way for Christmas, but it went as follows: Browse the cases, and jot down the item numbers on the small white sheets found around the cases. Give the note paper to an employee that is walking around, and they will put it in the queue at the registers. Then, listen for your name, the employees at the registers will call you and show you the pieces you selected. This was sorta odd, but efficient in a way as well. I received some earrings several months ago that aren't really my style, so I brought them with me in hopes for an exchange. I was able to apply the value of the earrings to my new ring that I picked out! You can have catalogs sent directly to your home for your browsing pleasure. If you fall in love with a certain piece, and need to replace it years down the road, it's probably going to still be available. Never again will I purchase anything from James Avery again. My boyfriend bought me a chain, cross with a birthstone, box, and special cleaning kit. Spent over $240 on this. After seeing the necklace for 5 weeks the clasp broke. No reason. Just fell apart. I took the item back to the store to have the new chain replaced. They said that somebody (a sales person) should've told me that I should not take it in the water or lie down with it on. I will brake. They then proceeded to tell me I need to purchase an entirely new chain for $130. What?!?!! I just bought the first chain for that price less than two months ago!!! Visited James Avery to purchase a pair of hammered earrings for my Mom's Christmas gift. While the actual earrings were stunning in price, craftsmanship, and quality--unfortunately their service was lackluster and dull. Walked in the shop on a Monday around 3pm (by no means peak hours, even considering its the holiday shopping season) with my father and another couple. The other couple was instantly greeted and serviced immediately. Although I had a specific piece in mind, I had trouble getting the attention of the salespeople on the floor who seemed to actively ignore me while showering the other (non-minority) customers with attention. Now before I continue writing further, I must mention that I'm not one to throw the race card around lightly. I have been privileged enough to experience the world with minimal limitations due to my race. With that said, I must give pause and consider my race when I am with my well dressed father and I am personally wearing an Ivy League college T-shirt and I'm completely ignored until I make eye contact with the other minority worker who was in the back room who instantly came out to help me once he saw me. Then when I pay my purchase in full in debit on the spot, his coworker nearby who was in the showroom all along immediately begins to exchange pleasantries with me on the spot. Racism in modern times is not blatant. It is a ever-present collection of subtleties that leaves those it was intended consciously aware while leaving those who dole it out clueless since it resides in their subconscious (one hopes). I just think its important to pair the same level of service with level of craftsmanship of their pieces for all of their guests. read more

I finally caved in to the charm bracelet frenzy and I went in there to purchase the first time and waited at least 30 minutes to be helped until my husband approached someone for help. The second and third times I had to approach someone to purchase charms as well. I went in there today with the intention of completing my charm bracelet, meaning I knew what I wanted and was ready to go in and out quickly (also intending to buy $300+ worth of items) and when I walked in there were 3 girls behind the counters just staring at each other while I literally walked around the whole store at least twice. First of all let me start that I already spent 350 dollars there prior to this. So I go in to buy an ID bracelet. It's too big and the sales lady suggests we send it to Kaleen TX to have it sized. They'll do a better job there than in the store she says. And I need to wait 3 weeks to get it back. I said okay fine. And payed for the item... I get home and notice an extra 20 dollars for "special sizing"... I called the store and left a message for the girl who sold it to me to call me back. She never did. I called again and asked for the manger. The manager got on the phone to inform me that they charge for such things... I informed HER that the sales lady never mentioned a 20 dollar charge. She informed ME that the sales lady DID mention the charge! I told her if she doesn't refund my 20 dollars I'm coming tomorrow for a refund of the bracelet and it would be the last time I would be making a purchase there. She tells me okay that she'll do it this time! "THIS TIME". So she put the credit in the computer and told me they'll call me in three weeks when the bracelet is back. NO ONE EVER CALLED ME. So I show up to the store in person and there's my bracelet waiting for me. For God only knows how long. So I get the bracelet home and notice a odd yellow tint... Noticeable on its own. Really noticeable next to other silver pieces, and VERY NOTICEABLE the next morning in direct sunlight! So I go back up to James Avery Store. And I'm greeted by two sales clerks. I show them the yellow tint on the bracelet and compare it to my two chains I bought there to show the difference... That's because it's reacting to your skin one tells me... The other tells me it's reacting to the soap I use and my perfume... I tell them I don't care what it's reacting to its yellow and I want to exchange it... Let's polish it here and it's gonna take the yellow off. I told them it was already polished when I bought it here yesterday. They insisted that we re-polish it befor we exchange it...Fine, I hang around the mall for A HOUR AND A HALF waiting for the damn thing to be polished. When it comes back guess what ITS STILL YELLOW! Well now they agree to go and get the manager. Her she comes. The same bitch I talked to over the phone about the 20 dollars. Short brown hair and close to retirement. First she plays stupid and says she can't see anything yellow about the bracelet... Then she lies and tells me she "can't REALLY exchange it since it's already been altered" WHAT A BUNCH OF BS. Then after she agrees to exchange it she tells me again that she'll do it "This Time". Like it's all my fault! Last I checked it was free to re-size at the store. I was talked into sending to Kaleen Tx where I would be charged. Never informed of the charge. Then basically accused of being a liar by the manager that I knew all along that there was a charge. Like I was calling to bitch and complain about the 20 dollars and what a huge favor she was doing me. Then when I returned the item for the yellow tint of the silver, being once again accused that I'm making it up and she tells me to my face that she doesn't see the yellow. The manager should retire already if she's that blind. I mean really. And once again the huge favor she made for me by allowing me to exchange it. I didn't even ask for a refund! First of all, I love James Avery jewelry.. I have been buying it for 40 plus years.. I had a terrible experience when I ordered online for this Mothers Day.. my mother is an invalid and I could not go into store so I got online. I ordered online on Thursday this year. I paid the next day air fee of 19.50 to get by Saturday. When I tracked the package, delivery was on Monday,after Mothers Day. I called customer service and they said, so sorry, we do not have Saturday delivery.. I am so upset that the online site did not inform me there was no Saturday delivery. UPS does deliver on Saturday, Avery just will not do it. My daughter will be the only one at the gathering that will not have a gift.. if ordering online, beware.. lesson learned!! To begin I hope that everyone that reads these reviews does their own research first before believing everything they read. First of all, no Dillards has not bought James Avery. Dillards participates in selling James Avery items. I don't know if they can provide the same services as they are not equipped so if you purchase from them do not expect that they can. Secondly, during every holiday Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day etc, and ESPECIALLY the month of December the store is constantly packed with customers. Never and I mean never have I ever seen a sales associate discriminate against someone. There are only so many associates and even at 3 in the afternoon the store gets very busy. The associates will give the same amount of attention to every customer they interact with but there are some people that are impatient and entitled. Yes the system of filling out the papers with what you would like to see works and is efficient because when all the registers are full then it puts everyone in line. Everyone is called in the order they submitted their request. As for the comment about the management being rude and argumentative, I see that person conveniently left out their participation in it. I have seen someone trying to get a cash return from a check that was written 2 days prior after being told that it is a minimum 10 days and is the standard for pretty much any company. I have seen people expect to have their items to be soldered to be put in front of everyone else's because they are in a hurry. I don't think anyone as a customer should expect the management of any company to bend their rules or go against their policies for their benefit. The store has a system and policies that keep everyone honest and customer service is always the most important thing. I have also witnessed many extremely satisfied customers saying many thanks as they leave the store. I have worked retail and have been a customer many times. So I have been on both sides of the register. Primarily what I have found is that the customers that have the most issue with a store experience is when the management didn't go against their policies and give them what they wanted or they are looking for something negative and then always find it. I feel bad for those that have had a bad experience at the NP location. I'm pretty positive it's an isolated case and not the norm. read more
