Jam! Initially had great traction as Bozeman's hottest new breakfast and lunch destination. As it boasted its Quasi elegant plating design and local food preparation. It upped the normal mom and pop breakfast diner experience to what can only be compared to a college dining hall. The high ceiling, open kitchen, coffee bar & open seating layout makes this restaurant deafening when trying enjoy a cup of coffee let alone the uninspired citrus arugula. That accompanies what appears to be every plate. While new patrons seem to flock in droves, driving wait times upwards of 1-2 hours, the ownership can't seem to keep any management for any period longer. A myriad of Boh, Foh and General managers have been ground through the Jam!(ed) machine. And we won't even get into the burnt-out Line cooks/ Wait staff. All the while, the menu has been painfully stagnant. Those workhorses are dead stop kicking them! Unfortunately, semi thawed biscuits, lukewarm gravy and burnt potato (hash) rarely meets to justify the overpriced plate cost. To be fair, the operations group has had their handful opening up their sister restaurant "Revelry." Which imo, is mostly a success, but thats for another review. Back at the task at hand. I sincerely hope that the Chef at the helm, can turn his gaze back to the flagship and correct its path. As Bozeman grows in both competitive restaurants and sophistication of said restaurants, going in circles with the tired recipes laid before you is not going to win you awards here Chef. In conclusion, I look forward to experiencing what i felt when Jam! first opened its doors. Until then, If waiting an hour outside and over paying for a nuevo Denny's "Grandslam" breakfast to go with your empty coffee cup is what you're looking for, look no further. PSA: Although this review is a bit sharp. There's a shortage of restaurant laborers these days, and the people who are cooking and serving you food are working incredibly hard to justify to their employers that they deserve to earn enough to live in Gallatin County let alone Bozeman. Goodness very mediocre. I'm vegan and they did not know what vegan is nor did they have options when in fact it stated in their Yelp they had "vegan options"? My point is.. if you don't have it, don't indicate that on your Yelp just to get certain customers. It's deceiving! I was the only vegan one in our group. But I asked my group how food tasted. I also ordered an egg and what was described as a slab of bacon: the crepe was incredibly sweet and 'tough'; one would have been enough. The slab of bacon was one slice- for $6.
