Very rude about service dogs. No one, without a doctor's degree, should be telling customers their disability is not legitimate loudly for other customers to overhear. We've been coming here almost 4x a month for over 7 months and all of a sudden there is a problem. My service dog is kept fully contained in her own bag, away from the public or food. I have never had pancakes that taste and look like they were deep fried. The eggs were greasy and lacked flavor. This was a place like wish would have stayed a mystery to me. I dove headfirst into a huge breakfast this morning. I got the stacker, which is just stacked hash browns with peppers and onions, cheddar cheese, eggs, and hollandaise sauce. I put away a decent amount but it was huge. I loved every bite! It was hot and packed with flavor. The sauce was absolutely impeccably done. The potatoes were hot and crisp. The cheese made everything all lovely and gooey and the eggs were cooked exactly as I ordered. So good! read more

Great diner. The wife had the chicken fried steak and eggs, she said it was the best she ever had and we travel a lot. I had the corn beef and hash with eggs, you can tell it is homemade, really delicious. This place is just down the road from Costco, so eat breakfast here and then head to Costco. I ordered takeout for some breakfast after I was done at a doctor's office nearby, and they were very busy. The food and service are fantastic, so I usually expect a bit of a wait whenever I go. The woman running checkout was very polite and sweet, checking in on me a lot during the wait for my food, and the omelet I ordered was absolutely wonderful and super stuffed with all the goodies. Been getting food from this place for a couple decades now and it never disappoints. Best breakfast to hit that comfort food spot! read more

I've always loved Jakes, not only for their food but for the classic diner ambience that is so hard to find in this day and age. The portions are huge and the atmosphere is unbeatable. I went in for breakfast and like most mornings it was busy. That didn't stop our waitress from going above and beyond. Now I don't know if my server is from the south but she sure did beam with southern hospitality. It was refreshing to have someone go that above an beyond. My coffee cup was never less than half full, my pants barely fit after that meal and my face hurt from smiling so dang much. So thanks again Terry for making our morning! read more

We called ahead to get a table for 8, After waiting outside for 25 minutes we were finally seated and ordered, 40 minutes later, after watching the other 3 tables around us be seated, eat and leave, we finally asked for our food to go. Nothing but a half baked apology and 10 more minutes of standing around to get sub par food packed in styrofoam. Have you tried to eat eggs Benedict out of a styrofoam container?? oh and they failed to even give us utensils!! A discount would have been appropriate, but not even an apology from the manager?? I will give the hostess 5 stars for being kind and helpful when she sensed our distress and my frustration for having to run back inside after leaving with our non intentional to go order. I came here with a friend who grew up in Bend. He told me it used to be attached to a truck stop on the edge of town but years ago the truck stop closed down and they relocated the diner to where it currently sits. He had not been to its current location but after we finished our meal, confirmed that it is just as good as it used to be. Having never been there before myself, I was excited by the claim of "Largest Portions in Central Oregon" on the front of the menu. If anyone thinks this is not true, please let me know. The monster sandwich was spot on. Even writing this a couple weeks after having it, I am craving another one. I thought the Texas toast might be a little much (because, let's be honest, it is) but I was halfway through before I even noticed it was different than normal bread. It just seemed so right. The country benedict is no joke. Expect to see a large mound of gravy headed straight for your pie hole if you order it. Don't worry, underneath is a giant fluffy biscuit and chicken fried steak that will round out your food groups (and caloric intake) for the day. Lastly, GET A CINNAMON ROLL! Actually maybe not. Because they are so big, it can fill you up before your actual meal. If you are on a budget you can totally just order a cinnamon roll and feed two people for a grand total of $5.45. Despite being busy we were seated quickly, coffee cups never went dry and order came quicker than expected. 11oz Chicken fry was on spot, hash browns crispy and tender. MASSIVE portions, friendly service, this reincarnation of a the truck stop down on the south end of Bend is still rocking it!!

Mask firmly in place, I stepped in the door of Jake's and stepped back in time some 30-40 years. Although, thanks to the COVID, the noisy, crowded funk one is usually greeted with was missing. At 50% capacity, there's a strange quiet among the well-spaced out guests. I sat at the usually-crowded counter, by myself. Coffee came quickly, served by a big burly guy, in a mask. I ordered the "Stacker", knowing I would only eat about half of the huge platter soon to come. The Stacker is just that, about three large potatoes worth of excellent corn-beef hash , topped with tomatoes and a layer of cheese, topped by 2 fried eggs, topped with hollandaise sauce. Looks and sounds gross doesn't it? It was actually vey good, although, try as I might, I could only carve a sizable dent in one side of this mountain of food. The hash was better than most, the eggs done OM as ordered, and the hollandaise was as good as any in town. Surprised as I was, there's a reason Jake's as survived all these decades. Their food is good, and always more than one can possibly eat. Keep up the good work Jake! I'll be back! read more

Wow, great breakfast! Portions are huge! So many tasty looking options it made it hard to decide what to order. The biscuits are among the best I've ever had and are ginormous! I couldn't even finish half a biscuit with gravy, but God knows I wanted to. And I'm a big eater but I've met my match here. The stuffed hash browns were something different so I decided to try those and they didn't disappoint. I could only get through half of that too! My wife got the Marionberry and cream cheese French Toast and it was pretty decadent...like dessert. Service is great too and it's got a great family diner atmosphere. Big thumbs up! read more

Locally owned and operated and locally known for their massive proportions an immaculate attraction with the best food and some of the best staff. The owners runs around the restaurant working so hard it is very admirable our waitress this morning was a lovely woman who called all of us hun and baby making me feel like I was back in my grandmas kitchen. I think it was called Jake's Long Haul..? About $15 for alll of that. I thought, well ok I don't usually pay that much for breakfast but this was more than two breakfasts. The best part was the pancakes. They smelled and tasted like vanilla clouds that I fell asleep on and woke up to in a dream of true love and breakfast romance. Geezus! The portion sizes here are huge. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with scrambled egg dish, with bacon. Six strips of bacon and a wagon wheel size plate of biscuits and gravy later...I'm amazed. The food was pretty good, too! The gravy was tasteful, the bacon was crispy and flavorful, and the eggs were cooked quite well. But I consistently ran out of my drink. I tried several times to make eye contact or gesture to my waitress, but she made a concerted effort to avoid me. ....Sad. I left dying of thirst. I stopped at a local McDonalds to get a coke so that I had something to drink. I was very annoyed. I would have given Jake's four, even five stars because the food was quite good. Seriously amazing. I got the special, Black and Blue Benedict, steak, caramelized onions, mushrooms, and Gorgonzola. The hollandaise was the perfect consistency, the muffin crisp and held up under all of the delicious toppings. The hash browns were cooked to perfection, crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Portions are large, one meal could be split between two people with nobody leaving hungry. If you love breakfast where many of their dishes come in giant helpings, come here! Just beware that this diner can get slammed during the weekends, so you may have to wait to get seated and for food. It's a super casual restaurant, and it can get loud, but who cares when you're chowing down? We got the bunkhouse and the kielbasa and eggs with coffee, which were excellent. Our waitress was so cute and welcoming, calling us "honey" and making sure we had enough coffee while we waited for our food. What I really loved from this particular visit was that our waitress made me a to-go cup of coffee! And not from the coffee cup I was drinking out of. Very thoughtful and sweet. read more

Family of 7 visiting from the valley and picked Jakes based on all of the awesome reviews. All I can say is, they weren't wrong! There was a short wait (which is par for the course for a group of 7) but far shorter than other restaurants we'd tried. We had two dogs and the outdoor seating was perfect to accommodate them. Our server even got them ice water to help them deal with the heat! The food was really good and the portions were CRAZY big! We had multiple boxes to go and this is a family that can EAT. Waited 15 minutes for a table on a Sunday...not bad. But then waited another 15 minutes for service once seated and nearly an hour for our food! We inquired with someone about the wait for our food and he said 45 min to an hour is the standard wait time for orders on a Sunday. I don't care what day it is, waiting nearly an hour for food is just not okay. Especially when it is basic diner food like eggs and hash browns. At least make customers aware of this before they're seated because knowing that, we probably would have left. Anyways, once we finally got our food it was just only okay. There was hair in one of the dishes too. Gross. Our server however was very nice and once we got service it was pretty decent despite the wait for food. Prices and portion sizes are also very reasonable. But overall, it wasn't a very good experience and we will probably never go back. read more
