I hired Jaime years ago to fix a wall that was missing some cinder blocks, to increase privacy of our back yard which faces the street. After initial inspection, he came with a crew. They added few rows without paying attention to detail of adding sufficient concrete between them. My mom had to tell the workers to fill in the gaps. Then we had to tell them to fill in the gaps on our neighbor side because we share a wall. They did lazy work. Those areas were not filled at the joints. Needless to say, years later, today I am having issues with the wall. Because of the size block they used, my wall is now leaning and starting to buckle out. The new contractor I hired said this new block that was added is not up to code and it is the incorrect type/size. They should have never used it. Contractor also said many blocks are not set correctly because the joints were not properly adhered together with enough concrete between them. I was charged $1300 to add these 2-3 rows of blocks. And this was at least 7-8 years ago. I feel like I was ripped off. Now I have to tear the wall down and do it all over again because it has leaned to far it can't be repaired. It has to be replaced. Very upsetting especially because I wanted to hire a small local business. I want to support my community. It feels like they took advantage of our lack of knowledge behind wall building and codes. Portion of my block wall was damaged by a large tree root system that needed to be repaired. Got a few quotes from few companies that were only interested in big projects or were too expensive. Jaime and his team did such an excellent job for me and I highly recommend them. I was between tenants and needed my old concrete staircase replaced. I got three bids that were all similar in price, and Jaime's was actually the highest, but I could tell he cared about the work and would do the best job. I'm happy to say I was right, and he and his team pulled it off so well. We were dealing with a rainy Spring, and the weather was causing issues with concrete job scheduling. I remained in touch with Jaime (texting him mainly), as I needed the job done ASAP, and one day he called me and said he and his guys could do the whole job, from start to finish, the following day just before another few days of rain came in. I could hardly believe it. The next day his four guys showed up super early and got to work. They did demolition and removal, they kept engaging me for details about how to build the stairs, they were thoughtful and responsive, and his foreman was awesome. He didn't speak any English and I speak zero Spanish, but the guys translated for us and we brainstormed how to build the most attractive and useful design. Jamie and his team were exceptional to work with! It took us a while to decide what we wanted to do to the backyard, Jaime was patient and came out more then once to give us quotes as we kept changing our minds. He showed up and he showed up on time each time. We decided to use him to lay concrete in three different areas of our yard, One side of our yard was very uneven and took someone very knowledgeable to know how to lay the groundwork, and all of the work turned out to be exceptional, if any hypothetical barriers came up he brought them to our attention before they were even an issue.
