I needed acrylic nails removed and a gel manicure. An hour and fifteen minutes later and she was still just removing. I left before she could buff them because I didn't have time to be there for a manicure, however long that would take, if after all this time she wasn't even done with removal. I Moved to this neighborhood recently and when I was looking for a pedicure. It was little bit in the corner side I felt uneasy first but when I went in it was really big and nice environment and peace . Ruma did my pedicure she really did well and gave me nice foot massage. Moved to Astoria recently and looked for nail salons on Yelp; saw J'aime and three stars almost deterred me but went due to location. I've been twice and had a great experience both times. $55 for an excellent mani/pedi - some may say that's steep for Queens but it's worth it and people need to make a living. The pedicure comes with a lil paraffin and 5 min massage, and the interior is clean and everyone so kind. Definitely give them a try! read more

This is the second time I have tired J'aime Nails. While I was hopefully with the place because it looks well taken care of and more like the nail spas I am use to. But that's where it stops. I went in for a dip manicure and I left with almost all of my nail beds rubbed raw by the file and one of the nails chipped with in a few hours. Now 3 days later more than half my nails are chipping I have scabs on each of my fingers because of the burns. I can't go back to have them fix it because my nail beds need to heal before I do anything else. On my first visit I was unaware that they also give massages. I had a gentleman come over as I was getting my manicure and started to rub my shoulders while it felt nice I was unaware that it would later cost me an additional $10. Upon my second visit the same gentleman came over and again with out asking if I wanted a massage just started to rub my shoulders. I immediately told him no thank you and to please stop. I am not a fan of having someone come over and rubbing on me with out even asking to do so first and not being upfront about the additional cost. All in all I would not recommend anyone to get an dip manicure there and I will not be returning. read more

This place is beautiful and very clean on the inside. While getting my nails done they included a back massage with a heating pad which was HEAVENLY. The hand massage you receive before your nails are painted is very nice too. The person doing my nails, Margarita , did a great job on my nails. She paid attention to details and cared about my nails. also Irma was the sweetest person ever and had the best conversation. The back massage she gave me was fantastic! I'll start off by saying that the salon itself is attractive and clean and they have a lot of color options. They're also extremely sanitary and safe in terms of COVID. I've gone there twice in recent months. The first time was for a gel mani/pedi which was fine and held up for a couple of weeks as it should. This post is specifically about my recent experience. I went to get my nails done this past Sunday (3/14). I typically get acrylic nails but the technician strongly suggested that I get gel tips so I took her word for it. The process was fine. However, the next day (3/15), one of my nails chipped off while I was opening a door. Not the nail itself but part of the gel. I went back and they fixed it (which is part of the reason why I'm giving the place 3 stars). Today (3/17), ANOTHER nail chipped. I'm not sure if it's the quality of gel that they used or if the original technician was not familiar with doing gel tips but after paying almost $100, I expect a WAAAAYYYY better job. I made an appointment for acrylic fills. When I arrived, I pointed out that I had acrylic tips and needed a fill. I asked for "Dip" (SNS) color. The person at the front told me they don't recommend it. I explained thats what I had on currently, but I acquiesced and accepted their suggestion to do gel color. As soon as "Jamie" sat down, she seemed exacerbated. She frantically looked for towels and other supplies. As soon as she put a sand paper router to my nails she said "this color won't come off!" I explained that I had SNS on my acrylics. She again corrected me that this is not normal. (I've been doing acrylic/SNS for years). She insisted they HAD to be soaked. When she routed them again she was mad my tips were disintegrating and told me I should have told her (I did!!!) then she casually started talking about a full set. I just got a new full set at my other salon 3 weeks ago. I demanded to speak to a manager. They explained that they would only replace the 1 tip. The others would survive and I would only be charged for the fill. But while Jamie filed my nails, 2 more fell off. She began picking at the remaining acrylic and grabbed a metro card to swipe off the tip. I told her to stop. I explained that I've had my nails torn from this process and she needed to find another way. She continued to pick at it with her nails and tore my nail off the nail bed. While tapering the tips, she cut my finger pad. Then she asked how I liked the shape. I showed her how one side of a nail needed to be tapered more. She began filing the opposite side. I said I wanted coffin shape again. She pointed to my nails and said "you didn't have coffin last time, you had almond". But at that point my tips has melted from their original form. Then she began "softening" the corners to more almond. Finally, she pointed to the colors I selected and said "you want all of these". I replied "yes, as we discussed earlier, I want these colors." I had showed her earlier what I wanted. She replied "that's gonna cost extra!" At that point I was beyond DONE. 1. I will happily pay for what I want. 2. So far, I've gotten nothing that I wanted. I insisted that I could no longer stay without completely losing my mind. I left paying the full price for acrylic fills, without polish, the back side of my old tips are distressed and my nails not shaped properly. read more

First time getting a mani-pedi in NY post covid. So my feet prob got this poor employee doing my pedicure feelin' all types of ways. I got the Dead Sea spa pedicure and it was delightful! Here are their precautions they are taking in response to reopening, if you're curious 1- asked to use hand sanitizer immediately upon entering 2- masks are required for staff and customers 3- temp check as soon as you get in 4- asked to sign name/time/services on sign in sheet when entering 5- asked to sign a form saying you're not experiencing covid symptoms/have traveled etc. 6- asked to wait outside if you need to wait (I recommend making an appt to help with these procedures) 7- they have additional pedicure chairs in the back to enforce social distancing so strangers aren't on top of each other 8- plexiglass installed at pedicure chairs with their menu stuck on the side - so smart!!! read more

I've gone here about 3-4 times in the past 5 months and I am very satisfied every time. It's very clean and professional inside. They take card but not for tip, they have an ATM inside but I always bring some cash so I don't have to deal with the ATM fee. I've had a different person do my nails every time and have yet to have a bad experience. I get gel nails and these are my natural nails. I've loved this place for years. A bit expensive but consistently excellent mani pedi. This one-star doesn't reflect those services. HOWEVER- its worth mentioning on their chair massages, they never wipe down the chairs! Not the face rest- they don't even have wipes or cleaning spray! I went in earlier this week in need of a chair massage. I asked if they could wipe the chair down because it's cold and flu season. They tried to just use a regular tissue and I asked if they had any spray or an anti bacterial wipe. They looked at my like I was crazy! After a bit of back and forth, I realized this is not something they are prepared to do- ever. They feel a paper towel down on the face rest works fine enough. I was stunned. I apologized and said I no longer wanted the massage and left. Doesn't it seem like a chair where you are nestling you're face into this tiny cushioned space with the rest of the world should occasionally be wiped down? The manager (erena, apologies if I'm not spelling this properly) ensures each customer is happy, those entering the door are greeted, and the flow of customer-tech is continuous/efficient. Vicky did my Dead Sea pedicure ($62) and a regular manicure ($14). She was professional and personable. The set up was chic and worth it! I was a loyal customer here for many years and spent unlimited amount of money on every 2 Weeks like clockwork acrylics, pedicure & spa pedicures, gel on both, massages, etc.. today I was reminded why I don't come back to this dump with pretty decor. Might as well put a bow on a pile of mud. Came in for a gel pedicure, which again I get EVERY 2 WEEKS, so I'm pretty aware of how procedure goes. They want to soak off my gel, it makes my nails weak and my normal place I go to now since my last insane incident at this disgusting place always uses the buzzer. It's quicker, it's efficient, and it doesn't weaken the nail with acetone. Got an attitude about that right away.. I'm sorry but no I don't want acetone soaking on my feet or nails. The pedicure itself is a mess.. looks like it's a week grown out, paint on my toes and cuticles, just a whole mess. Speaking of cuticles.. she used her thumb nail 3 times to push them back. GROSS. For one that's not even sanitary & secondly ouch that hurts a lot. Didn't say a word this far into it and regretting coming in even more. As she's doing my gel and looking like a blind person doing so, I feel a stinging on my toe, I have a huge cut.. she sprays some type of blue liquid it's now burning. She then takes cuticle cutters and rips off skin on top of the cut, then takes once again her nail and rips off remainrrr. I scream because now I'm really in pain. I honestly love this place. It's expensive as hell but it's worth it. I like to have acrylic on my nails as regular manicures just don't work for me. When I come here I get the SNS dip powder. It's about $45 for a fill in but my nails look exquisite. Julie really hooks my nails up and they look flawless. At other places my nails turn out looking chunky, different sizes and not to mention they break easily. They take the time out here to really get things done correctly as they should given the price. The pedicures are $30 which is also more than usual but it's worth it. They take the time to do different treatments and really take care of your feet. I went to J'aime Nails 5 days ago to get a pedicure and acrylic nails in preparation for an upcoming wedding. The pedicure was nice, definitely overpriced, but beyond that I have no complaints. However, after the pedicure, my experience was anything but nice. The application of the acrylics was rushed. I got the distinct impression that I was greatly inconveniencing the nail tech simply by coming to J'aime Nails to get my nails done. It later became obvious that she was annoyed at one of her co-workers, but it led to a rather uncomfortable time. Less than 24 hours after I left, the acrylic on my pinky nail popped off completely, which resulted in my having to super glue the nail back on for the wedding I was attending. Shortly after, the acrylic on my thumb nail popped off and, again, I had to glue it back on so I could attend the wedding without my nails appearing to be in a total state of disrepair (which they were). It is now not even a week after I got these acrylics put on and I only have 6 out of the 10 left (one of which was glued back in place by me). I did not want to write a bad review, but the fact that I paid $40 for acrylics and half of them fell off within a week, is nothing short of absurd and should be brought to the attention of potential customers. read more

First off the lady that was supposed to do my feet tried forcing me to get an $80 pedicure which is ridiculous by the way. The nail technicians are always kind and cater to your needs by taking their time while servicing you. While receiving a mani/pedi they always open a fresh pack of utensils, which is huge for me. The place is ALWAYS spotless too! I've only done gel manicures ($35) and pedicures and it's taken about a hour each because of the entire experience. They place your hand/feet in a glove/sock with some moisturizer while they do your nails which feels amazing and give you a back massage . My nails always come out perfect and last for 2+ weeks.
