My nail artist was skilled and did a good job job, but the owner is dishonest, aggressive, and a scammer. I asked her if builder gel cost the same amount as regular gel. After the service she charged me 80 after me thinking it would be 40 as she confirmed the price was the same as regular gel. I asked both her and the nail artist. She should post a clear and accurate price list and apologize for pulling the wool over customers eyes. The salon is not very clean or modern either. Im a client for this Salon for 3 years and I alwsys have Power gel nails at this place 2 times a month . But this week I had a bad experience and I went to do my nails and the person who did it did not put enough powder on my nails so it can last one or weeks ... I was able to get a very last minute appointment for eyelash extensions, which was great, so definitely call to ask if they'll be able to do a service for you if you don't have a reservation in advance. This was my first time getting lash extensions, so I'm no expert by any means. It took 1.5 hours for a full set. $120 plus tip. Was a relatively okay experience. Slight burning but my eyes were not irritated at the end (were not red at all). I wanted a natural look and this length is a bit over the top but fun nonetheless. I did wake up with a bruise on my right eye from how the tape was positioned which was annoying. It seems the application was pretty top quality, but the lashes themselves were pretty thick. This place is really clean and they do the job right. I've been to quite a few nail salons and most of the time my nails barely last a week because I'm constantly using hand sanitizer (I'm a nurse). However ever since I've been getting my nails done here, they last at least 2-3 weeks. They can even do ombré nails and it looks fantastic! Will be coming back soon. read more

The owner is nice & I absolutely love the eyelash technician (she is the best in the city!), however I would go elsewhere to get your manicures/nails done. It seems like communication is an issue here. I was charged $115 including tip for a gel manicure. Not even any extensions. I wanted extensions and when I saw that the nail tech started applying nail polish without adding extensions, I figured I was just going to go with that and pay less than I expected. But NOPE. Think about it, $100 for a gel manicure on extra short natural nails? She removed my existing tip & did an ombré, but you could barely see it & I doubt $100 encompasses all that was done. I would rate this place higher if they would have done a better job at resolving the issue. They gave me back $15 cash because it was clear that there were discrepancies amongst the shop workers about what costs what. All in all - My manicure was not worth $100, my local nail shop charges $45-65 total for what I had done. I should have gotten more of a partial refund. So I will never come back to get my nails done here. My pointer nail is already chipping & I got it done only 3 days ago. :/ I will keep going here for my lash work, i would rate the eyelash tech 10 stars if i could. But after i saw my account charged $115 and i look down at my nails, i just don't think it adds up. From the moment your greeted to the exiting, its all about you. My most recent trip included a mani, pedi and an eyebrow wax. 1/3 star ding - I find it a little difficult to get in and out of the closely situated pedi chairs. Another 1/3 star ding - no appointment, good chance you won't be able to get in or come at an off peak time. So if your going to Sapphire, make an appointment. Otherwise, love the service, the pleasant staff, the cleanliness of the operation. Price wise, little high but we are on the UES.(last of the 1/3 star dings) Definately, a highly recommend. Came here on a Thursday morning at around 9:45 when my usual place failed to open on time (no idea why). It's very clean, all tools come right out of the sterilization packet but very packed inside. Every inch has a table or a pedicure chair. It's actually so crowded that I didn't see a drying spot and when it was time for my nails to dry, the nail tech pulled out a tiny fan and I sat at her table until I was done. To be fair, I didn't go to the back of the salon so there could have been one. The tech did a decent job but was so...incredibly...slow. Thankfully I wasn't in a rush so it wasn't an issue. $19 for the Essie "long wear" polish with the gel-like top coat. Nice place in a pinch but wouldn't go out of my way to come back. read more

Please do not go here. There are so many nail salons in the area that do better work and have nicer front desk staff. As many have mentioned the receptionist has an unchecked attitude problem. I've given it a few tries and had one good technician and three terrible ones. My last visit I paid $100 including tip for a bumpy and uneven manicure and they charged me $15 for breaking ONE nail less than a week after. Second time at Sapphire Nails for a gel mani ($40) + regular pedi ($29?). I walked-in around 430pm on a Thursday and was helped right away. They have a good selection of Zoya regular polishes as well as CND gel colors. Masks were worn by all employees and customers, there are plastic partitions between the pedicure stations and a prerequisite temperature check at the entrance. Have had two really good experiences here, my gel manis have lasted three weeks minimum and pedis for almost four weeks. Friendly and attentive service! Will come back! read more

You may be able to find a place that's slightly less expensive, but to me cleanliness is very important when it comes to manicures, pedicures and the like. I went this past Monday for a mani/pedi- their first day opening back up after three months, and the place looked fantastic! Employees and customers were socially distancing, every other chair was open. The establishment spent a lot of time creating lucite stands between customer and nail techs to help with the any COVID19 guidelines. Also, it looks like they upgraded their pedi chairs, everything looks brand new. I was very impressed how they managed to handle my entire experience and I could see them disinfecting and cleaning every 5 mins. It was clean and I felt safe! Side Note for future clients: If you see a slight price increase please don't complain, it's tacky. It is your job to request a price before you commit to a service. In my opinion, the prices are extremely reasonable for a small businesses that has been destroyed by the economy due to the pandemic, no rent relief and the last thing they need is tawdry customers asking why the price increase. Its called supply and demand also a global pandemic that has left millions unemployed. If you don't believe in reasonable prices, get your claws polished elsewhere! I got a pedicure and extension tip manicure here because I was gifted a gift card to this salon. The nail tech was excellent and everything turned out great, however when it came time to pay they said they could not honor the gift card cause they didn't know how to apply it (despite it being purchased through them) and rushed me out telling me to "come back and use it next time" and i had to pay full price today. If you can't "figure it out" to honor it this time, why should I expect it to be honored the next time? I think that was terrible business practice and soured me on the place. Tech was great and very nice, but in no world should anyone be paying that much for what can only be described as the most basic mani pedi I've ever gotten in my life -- especially when you can get the exact same result elsewhere in the city for half the price. I admittedly should have paid better attention to the OUTLANDISH pricing before going in blindly (they charge $40 extra on top of an already pricey $85 pedicure if you want gel -- maybe I live under a rock but that's insane to me?? However, it's definitely overwhelming in there with so many people waiting and being told they can walk in or book an appointment with not enough women to actually take everyone. Ana did a great pedicure but she was not the most friendly (I was picking out a color for a 3-5 minutes for my nails that I was getting done for my bachelorette and they had no nude/sheer color to do under the design so the search took a bit longer, and she told me to hurry up bc I'm taking way to long and seemed angry the entire time). Also the top coat used is not safe, the skin surrounding the nails that had come in contact with it experienced a very hot burning pain when I placed my hands under the lamp to cure the gel. I have been a customer for 5 years. Most of the manicures are fine--especially if you find the right tech. But since my manicures have been less consistent after having kids, I usually walk in and get whoever is free. But after my last visit, I will never go back again. I called ahead to make sure someone was available and they told me to come in. When I got there, only the owner was free, who I already knew doesn't do a great job... but I was in a time crunch and agreed. The whole thing was AWFUL. I went there to relax and instead had to micromanage the whole manicure. She rushed through the whole thing, missed the sides of my nails on the first coat, so after I asked her to paint the whole nail, she did so only on the 2nd coat, giving the polish a sloppy layered look. She also botched one nail so badly that she had to re-do it twice. This is not how to treat a loyal customer of 5 years and that's why they will never get my business again. I'm really really REALLY disappointed. My initial experience with this place was wonderful, but went downhill afterwards. I spent a while at the nail salon, and paid a pretty penny. Got a pedicure and SNS powder. They have a bunch of SNS powder colors, but none of them were displayed on fake nails. They told me to google the colors. Ummm okay. I was chatting with the nail lady & told her I was going on vacation. Went to Florida. Didn't do much except lay on the beach & swim in the ocean. Was down here for 3 days when I noticed the chipping on the sides of the nails. Then, my left pointer nail pops off. Mind you, it's been less than a week. Also, the tops of the nails looks like the topcoat vanished.. I paid so much money for this and I'm just so disappointed. UPDATE: all my nails popped off at the 1 week mark. This was THE WORST powder/acrylic manicure I have ever gotten in my life. I have NEVER written a bad review before, but DO NOT believe the reviews you see on here. My nails are uneven down the length, they slope up and down. The shape is not the same on every nail. Some nails were put on crooked. I kept trying and trying to explain what was wrong and how to improve but nothing was done to improve it. I paid 68 dollars and will have to pay more to get them fixed somewhere today, they are embarrassing to look at. One of my friends lives on the UES and after getting a tiny bit wine drunk, we decided we needed mani/pedis. Sapphire Nails and Spa is around the corner from her place and she had been here one other time so we walked over. It was a Friday night around 7PM and the place was very accommodating to walk-ins. My friend convinced me to get the 130$ (before tip) gel manicure and specialty pedicure. Why not? Though in retrospect that is ALOT to spend on a mani/pedi. Especially way too much to spend for how POOR the manicure came out and how unimpressive the pedicure was. I showed the girl doing my manicure a picture of what I wanted (Basically a French manicure with colored tips). I honestly don't have pictures because it looked horrendous - as if a child drew on the tips. What is worse is that the gel manicure peeled off in less than a week... The pedicure was expensive for the paraffin wrap, etc. but I was left unimpressed. I watched the girl start scrubbing away at my calluses but quit very quickly and halfway on them. My feet still have dead skin peeling on the bottoms. I also had to take the paraffin wrap off myself at the end as they forgot I still had it on... Basically there is too much competition in this city to charge this much for mediocre work. This is hands down my favorite nail salon ever. The staff are so sweet and nice and professional. Great manicures that last forever. Really stands out from all the other nail salons in the area. The hours are amazing - they're open until 10pm so it's easy to go after work. Would totally recommend this place to all my friends. Also want to note that the place is super clean too! read more
