I came here about a week ago and I really enjoyed my experience. I wanted a gel pedicure and Gel-X for my hands and the whole experience was great. The salon is clean and has a relaxing vibe, nice music that does not give you a headache, lots of natural light and many many colors to choose from. The two services, including a spa treatment with my pedicure, took about an hour and a half. That's basically nothing!!! They were so quick with my nails extensions. However, my pinky toe gel didn't hold up after five days () and two of my extension lifted off a bit and I ended up losing them (but that's my fault; as soon as I see an imperfection with my nails I tend to keep touching the area obsessively lol) They also have a points rewards system which I assume will be convenient on the long run. Overall it was a good experience and I can totally see myself going back. read more

Pretty & well-located nail salon. Clean and updated. Unfortunately the nail polish chipped at most of the tips two days after the manicure. That's never happened before. Not sure what went wrong here. Maybe wrong type of nail polish? read more

I've NEVER "double reviewed" before! But my goodness this nail salon is about as good as it gets. I was there for many hours getting several treatments (UV refill, gel pedicure, eyebrows) and saw them take every single walk in that arrived (even on a busy Saturday). I saw everything from male manicures, nails for two sweet little girls, gorgeous extension work, nail designs -- and every time it was done with speed and professionalism and cleanliness. My own nails have never looked better -- I got a color-tip French manicure. Go! PS. Hot tip-- they have a loyalty card! 1 point per dollar spent. If you pay in cash it is 2 points per dollar spent. It adds up quickly to free services. read more

Amanda is theeeee best. Place: clean as hell. Place is bright, open, and clean. What I appreciated the most was that all their instruments were in sanitary bags which I've never seen at a nail salon before. Booking appointment: walk ins are definitely welcome. Majority of people who came in after me were walks in. I would still call ahead and recommend booking before 5 pm on weekdays. Not sure about weekends. While I was getting my nails done they experienced a big rush around 5:30 pm so you might have to wait 30 minutes if you come in during the busy hours. Nails: I called same day for an appointment at 5 and finished around 6:40 for a UV Gel and French tip design. It was my first time doing UV Gel so my fingertips were not happy under the light. But Amanda was super kind and layered the application so my nails didn't feel like they were going to burn off. She nailed the design (l o l) and I love how they feel. She was also so sweet! I was sadly visiting but if I lived there, I would become a regular easily. I also saw other people work who have been mentioned before Tina and Niki who both looked to be doing great jobs. Next time I visit will definitely be stopping by to see Amanda. read more

Is a Nails Spa is amazing! Came here with a friend once, for a pedi and later on I decided to get a mani. It's close by my apt and their prices are pretty good around the area. This doesn't mean their services' quality is bad either ! all the staff members are so nice. In total I think I've been to Is a Nails spa about 4-5 times? For both mani and pedi I think I'll start coming on a monthly basis. Since I also really like Zoey, she's such a cutie! She makes small talk and her leg massage is amazing! You think from a small woman she won't have the strength to really give you a good massage. WRONG! So yeah I'll stick with Zoey for mani & pedi. The place is also very clean and spacious. There seem to always be customers when I go in so deff have an appointment although they try their best to accommodate walk-ins. read more

I was with a dear family friend in Astoria who wanted to get her nails done at is A nails spa so it guess I am getting my scary looking nails pampered and tuned up as well. Not really embarrassed getting my nails done in a place that has one male inside and that male is me but it's cool with my gal pal next to me . Place is spacious, has all the bells and whistles for a nail spa and the seats are very comfortable while my hands and feet are soaking in warm soapy water . Wow the colors my friend is getting is bright like a light but it's very stylist but for me , just a nice tune up and clean up on my hand and toe nails is good enough for me . The manicure lady did a great job and didn't disturb me when I started to snore a bit . Prices are reasonable and they take their time with no rush to finish to complete the job . First time client here as it was recommended by my sister. My appointment was at 2:30pm for a gel pedicure (done by Tina) and recommended by the technician to do gel x based on the design I showed her. I arrived there around 2:20ish and I was done by 5:45ish. When it comes to nails, especially if you want designs, I understand you need to give it time... unfortunately, my pedicure took a little over an hour. But WOW my nails... Amanda did an amazing job. I always hesitate to show designs to the technician as I feel it never meets your full satisfaction. However, Amanda did wonders on my nails, she did it so effortlessly. They are nothing but kind and gracious! They do a lovely job with nails and a fantastic job with massages. I always feel so relaxed afterwards. Finally a peaceful, clean salon! That and a great mani/pedi is all I ask for. Shouldn't be so hard to find given the amount of salons in this area. I've been to almost all of them over the last 20 years. Amanda couldn't be nicer. The women do a great job. The renovation of the salon is beautiful, bright and clean. I've enjoyed visiting Is A Nail Spa for the last 4 months. Amanda's attention to detail when doing my acrylics has made for some of the best quality nails I've had in decades. I've also gotten wonderful spa pedicures by Zoey and wax services as well. It seems inconsequential, but the playlist is always cheerful and nostalgic. This spa is a great find in Astoria, but I travel over an hour to get here! It's worth the trip! read more

This salon just got a remodel and it's sparkling, clean, and sunny! I just stopped in for my second pedicure with the new management. The first one lasted a long time. I didn't have an appointment, but I was sat right away. My girl was new, but she was extremely thorough with the nail and cuticle prep and did a beautiful and careful job with the polish. I can't wait to go back and see how the place looks once it's all finished! read more

This place is the best!! I've tried a few places in Astoria and haven't loved them. This nail salon is super clean. If you make an appointment they take you right away, and appointments are easy to make online. My gel usually lasts 3-4 weeks. They have a huge range of colors. read more

I have been here twice for a gel manicure. They are great and don't rush you. Very nice inside. The second time I had Terry and his attention to detail was incredible. I asked if he could do round instead of square and he did. They haven't chipped at all and it's been over a week. They also have a loyalty program which is great! read more

Given the low prices, I shouldn't have had high expectations of service but the level of service was so low that I had to share the experience. I walked in with my 2 daughters for 3 manicures and was asked to come back in 30 mins. Not a problem given it was a weekend and we didn't make an appointment. We came back in 30 mins and the lady at the front said she didn't think we would come back so had to wait longer. Someone started one of my girls after 15 mins so we couldn't leave. Then 3 different people did my other daughter's nails after 30 mins. After 90 mins, some came to do my nails and I passed bc we had waited so long. The lady at the front said sorry but really she should be sorry she should do better. Why would you think customers wouldn't come back? Clearly, we won't be back since there are so many wonderful nail salons in Astoria, this could not have been more disappointing. read more

They also asked me to pay AND TIP before I even got the service done. I have never had a place ask me to tip them, let alone before the service was even completed before. Tipping is a complementary touch, which I always do. I paid $35 (plus the tip they asked me for upfront) for a manicure I will now have to redo myself one day after getting them done. When I started getting my nails done, they were always short and so brittle that they would never grow, and my cuticles were terrible. As I got bored with the single color, I asked for an ombre at a random chop shop one day, which was a BIG mistake. Please see the first two pictures. I thought to myself that I might not be able to find someone to do nail designs until I saw my best friend's nails and was introduced to Miki. After going to Miki, my nails became so strong and long, and people are always surprised when I tell them they are my natural nails, with no extensions or anything over them. Miki brought all my nail design visions to life. My question wasn't if she could do it but which five nail designs I wanted to pick that day. She did my nails for my engagement, bridal, wedding, and baby shower, and I would not trust anyone else to do it for all my special occasions. I highly recommend her and trust me; you will not be disappointed.
