Really cute cafe! We heard such good things about Jailhouse Cafe that we came to try it on our last morning in Moab. It wasn't too busy on a monday morning, and I got the southwestern eggs benedict and a side of the "famous soul food bacon." It was bacon that was super thick, and I liked it. Everything I'm looking for in a breakfast restaurant. Coffee in hearty diner style mugs. Even has option of Eggs Florentine on the menu not just the Benedict which makes it vegetarian friendly. And their southwestern twist on the hollandaise was delicious. Breakfast potatoes were perfect. Added a little extra kick with their homemade green hot sauce. The service was super fast even though we were there on memorial day weekend. Would definitely eat here again. And one of the cutest places to eat in downtown Moab too. read more

This unique restaurant serves breakfast only. There is a main building with indoor seating and two outdoor covered seating areas. The main building was a jail many years ago. It was converted to a breakfast only cafe about 20 years ago. The menu has all the breakfast favorites and a few unique items. There are egg benedicts, pancakes, waffles, omelettes, french toast, and classic egg dishes with bacon or sausage. Some dishes are made with chorizo for a unique flavor. One of their benedicts dishes is served with a southwest hollandaise sauce. There is a pancake dish similar to crepes. Unless it is very hot out, I suggest the outdoor dining area. Came here for brunch earlier this year when we were in Moab for vacation. There was a bit of a wait before we could get seated, and I guess that's just the norm as there's only so many places offering brunch. Seems like one of their specialties are their Swedish pancakes, so we shared an order of those. I got their eggs florentine, which were pretty good. The Swedish pancakes were tasty also, as was the coffee. The service was a little curt and one of my friend's order had a problem with it, so it wasn't exactly a perfect visit here. We came in peak hours, so we waited about 15 min for a table. Luckily there was an area that we can sit down as we waited for a table. The service was decent. They took care of us well and kept asking if we wanted more coffee. Even though the coffee is roasted and blended just for them, the coffee wasn't great. For food, I probably order the wrong thing, but the Eggs Benedict Mexicana wasn't good. I mean, the eggs were cooked right, but the overall flavor of the dish had a sourness to it. We like Eggs Benedict, and we're recommended Jailhouse Cafe specifically for them. Naturally, we ordered the Southwest Benedict without looking at the menu much. As a pretty strict macro counter (temporarily), I was sacrificing a lot to eat out for breakfast, but it was a special occasion! That is the preface to why I was so hungry and ate both muffins in about 2 minutes. Though I had been deprived of fried foods for a while, this wasn't the best eggs Benedict I'd had. The sauce was great, spicy but expected. The eggs were over easy as ordered and done right. The muffin was toasted and the ham was warm. That's about all I can say. No other adjectives to express additional yumminess. Service was fine. Kitchen staff gossiped about patrons out of earshot, and quibbled with some explicit language about the daily tasks. Good downtown vibes of Moab, man I have missed this town! Haven't enjoyed it in over a decade, been traveling elsewhere. This place just has the energy that is Moab. Watching people walk the busy streets as tourist season starts up. You will enjoy this start to your day. I recommend the hollandaise sauce on ANYTHING, and the bacon is thick. Bit of a bacon snob, and it's good. Only down side is when they are busy, they are busy. 30 minute wait for our group of 8 which had to be split into two separate tables. No big deal, but it doesn't seem to be too accommodating for big parties when they are busy. I'm sure they can when they are slower. Overall 5 and I'll be back hopefully soon. read more

Staff was friendly and made feel welcome. However, it was just plain Mediocre breakfast food, and very pricey for what you get. For instance, it was right at $10 for the ginger pancakes. There were no sides. Just 3 pancakes and we had to ask for syrup. And by the way if you want to pay extra for real maple syrup it's going to cost you. $3,75. Pancakes probably cost them .50. Without sides, that price seems ridiculous for just plain ginger pancakes. Nothing to write home about. The apple butter was bitter as well. To add bacon by the way will cost you $4. Coffee was mediocre, my husband didn't even ask for seconds. The Eggs Benedict was the saving grace of our meal as the hollandaise was house made. Our waitress took GREAT care of us but the food... the egg wasn't runny on our eggs Benedict and the ham was tough, too. Good potatoes, good hollandiase sauce, but not a classic eggs Benny without the runny egg yolk. The Swedish pancakes are worth about $6... I could have gotten the equivalent pancake at a fast food diner. And they were $15. The lingonberries were a nice touch. The maple syrup wasn't real. And $5 for orange juice that isn't freshly squeezed. I hate to write this because I love supporting local businesses but unfortunately we will not be coming through again. We arrived here for breakfast in downtown Moab around 11 o'clock. We were seated really quickly in the outside patio area. The server took really good care of us the entire time. I ordered the chorizo burrito, it came with a side of green chilies and homemade potato fries. My friend ordered the scramble and it was also very good. Very large portions and great value. This place is adorable. The scenery is lovely to look at. I enjoyed sitting on the patio. It was very picturesque. But the food. It was not fresh at all. When we walked in on a busy Sunday, the chef was just looking around and taking a break. It appeared that most of the food was made ahead of our order and was brought out quickly, almost too quickly. In Moab for a couple of days and happy to see so many restaurant options within walking distance of my hotel! Great thing about the area is there a very few chain restaurants. No exaggeration, this was the BEST bacon I have ever had! It's called "Our Famous Soul Food Bacon" on the menu. THICK, Smokey and cooked to perfection, this pork blew me away!! Finally we are here...we were told the wait would be 20 ministers because they were packed, to our surprise they found us a table within 5.
