I had a great first impression of Dr. I. He was very kind and thorough. The office people are nice and helpful. The wait wasn't that long.

I made an appointment with South Bay Orthopedic. After waiting for a while, finally I met with Dr…read more Sharma (the wife). She did a poor job diagnosing my knee problems. She didn't even try to properly diagnose them and just ordered an X-ray. Their directions for X-rays were totally inaccurate. It wasted my time. When I called them back, the front desk person was not helpful, and it wasn't easy to get in touch with them. Finally, I got the X-ray done. I made another appointment with them. I waited over a month before I got to see the doctor again. This time was with the husband. He just looked at the X-ray quickly and recommended PHP. He didn't diagnose my knees either. Somehow, I went ahead with the PHP that day. He said it's not covered by insurance and it costs $900, which I paid right there. The PHP worked for a month or so, but it wore off quickly. And they also claimed my insurance, which I questioned with no definite answer from them. I called and emailed their admin who takes care of billing, but they were silent and cricket. It was a total waste of my time and money. Please stay away from them. Recently, I met a doctor friend who used to know this couple. He didn't recommend them. I wished I knew before and had gone to Stanford instead.

It really is difficult to get hold of the front desk as well. The whole entire appointment itself took less than 10 minutes majorly discussing about insurance coverage for the MRI that I requested to take since his wife informed that if there is no pain in the ankle that I had due to a previous fracture injury then there's nothing much to do. She didn't even think about observing it but with her two eyes and told me not to worry since it's from previous damaged tissues around the ligaments which I can even observe that myself. Despite filling out the online pre check in form you still have to fill out multiple papers of new patient forms; really disappointed with her bedside manner nonetheless the professionalism from her. I requested to see a doctor who can listen to my concerns NOT the billing department. Cancelled the whole entire MRI and seeking for a new orthopedic doctor. Good luck.

He didn't really recommend anything be done, though he did mention a surgery. I asked for imaging, he recommended a CT scan. This didn't really seem to shed any more light on things though, he didn't have much to add after viewing the images. Although I'm no closer to resolving or fully understanding this issue after discussing it with him, this isn't really what this review is about. It may be that there isn't more to understand and that my options are extremely limited. I asked him if he would prescribe nitroglycerin patches, which numerous government studies have shown really help to heal orthopedic problems. I was denied this request by my primary care doctor on the grounds that she wasn't the person to ask, that I should ask a specialist, in particular one of my orthopedic doctors that I am seeing. Dr. Eugene asked me to send him links to the studies proving my case, I sent him about 8 links to government studies. I have heard NOTHING back. Several weeks later, several phone calls later, I'm still waiting for a yes or a no. Every time I would call, I was told I would get a response within a day or two. Lies. That's all I wanted was an answer, which I was promised. I'm done calling and asking for a response, I've wasted several weeks patiently waiting on this. I'm gonna go ask someone else. I find this extremely unprofessional.
